I guess you haven't read Perfectly Imperfect Love then.
It's the perfect example of just how great NS angst can be.
Fan fiction angst may be entertaining to some readers, but I agree with AzureWaters. Positivity suits NS far more than angst.
Naruto is the most positive and generally sunny character I can remember ever encountering. It's the characteristic that sets him apart -- from other heroes in other stories, and from other characters in his own story. Considering all the tragedy, mistreatment, and hardship he has endured, he remains an optimistic can-do guy. I mean, he even managed to turn his unrequited feelings for Sakura into a positive promise that gave her hope. He's amazing that way.
In fact, the only significant moment of angst we've seen from him (that I can think of right now) was when he hyperventilated after Sakura's confession and Sai explained what she was going to do. Loads of fans -- some even here on this site -- thought it was out of character for Naruto to have a reaction so weak, negative, and just plain emo.
Likewise, Sakura is a very positive girl overall. (All you have to do is compare her to Hinata to realize that.) The only angst we've seen from Sakura is because of Sasuke -- either directly or over having hurt Naruto because of Sasuke -- and that's not an accident. Sasuke is the poison pill of angst.
So yeah, some people really like reading their favorite characters in super angsty fan fiction, but I think that's precisely because it's out of character.
