I'm just baffled by the guy who pretended to know Japanese.

The girl friend theory doesn't make sense, why would Sakura hit Naruto just by saying to his dad she's his friend?

The correct translation is girlfriend, there is no other way to see it, the whole moment is about hitting Narut because he's says something that isn't true.

And remember, it's just a remake of first part where Konohamaru was asking the same thing. And no surprise, Naruto was just imagining again that Salura was his girlfriend. And the reason he's imagining this, is because he's in love with her, and that he's glad to hear people sayong that they are together.

Wow, I should say I'm surprised, but for some reason I'm not. What ever happened to neutrality and professionalism? And I just have to laugh every time I see people trying to write off the girlfriend comment as "girl friend". If that makes them feel better I guess, but we all know that would not be the case if Minato had been asking about Hinata. Do they really think Minato was actually asking Naruto if Sakura was a girl who is his friend, or his friend who is a girl?   Neither of those make sense to me, especially considering Naruto's response and Sakura's subsequent reaction.

I actually have a fun time reading their excuses for the girlfriend comment because they've no valid way and struggle so much to dissapprove it and you can actually see how much delusional they are, when you prov it to them that there's no word for girl-friend in Japan that the word means girlfriend as in lover,fiance then they go for the "but then it has to be a joke there's no other way" thing despite that they know that Naruto's expresion was very much serious, that's what i call pure comedy

Don't you think it's kinda odd that Naruto was the one who answered the question? Plus he did some thinking: "uuuhmmm.... uhm?.... yeah! that's more or less it". If it wasn't for Sakura's confession I'm pretty sure he would say "no" or just laugh it off.

I have to disagree with this i mean look at his face does that face tells you he was joking i don't think so, the thing is Naruto was caught by surprise from his death father he was never expecting something like that so he rushed to answer his question way do that  just so he can make a joke ? it also contradicts what he said in Sakuras confession , Naruto of all people is not the one who would make fun of anyone's feelings especially of Sakuras and his own feelings.What Naruto tried to say in a confusing way  is that Sakura's the one he loves the one he considers his girlfriend not that he actually thinks that he's dating her it's as simple as that . And not every moment needs to have a follow up for it t be taken seriously or discarded never the less it was a very powerful moment and just like you said it served it's meaning.

  I still think he would answer the same because he wasn't saying that she was his gf but that he feels her considers her as such in short she is the girl i love .  What Sakuras confession did was to show him & us the readers that Sakura accepts him as someone she could love apart from part 1 Sakura who was disgusted with the idea of ever dating him or loving him it wouldn't changed how feels about for her she did a fill circle from then to now and she's not over yet , the confession wouldn't changed how he feels about/for her.

Well i'm not sure that it didn't lead to anything it did lead to Minato his father confirming that his son find someone like his mother and give them his blessing or whatever you want to call that haha :) i would say this scene was a follow up of that one .

Viz being unprofessional? Huh reminds me of how during kushinas foreshadow they turned don't fall for a weird one to don't fall for the first that comes your way.

I don't expect the whole pairing ordeal to actually make it this deep into viz itself, but if these guys really had pairing oriented stuff in mind when translating that scene, that would be bad. I mean what are they supposed to do with seeing naruto say sakura is his girlfriend? If viz really goes dur oh guess we made a mistake, that's just wrong.

I'm really sad how so many people even some of the workers at viz cannot understand story elements, I mean again going back to the 469 and 615 events, people just assume too much that naruto somehow no longer loves sakura or that he suddenly loves hinata, even then that whole culture divide of preception, it's amazing how much people keep going on by this too much, if they assume by western ideals that 615 equals the end then they are in for a disappointment when more beyond from 631 was shown. I mean we all remember the meltdown of 631 and that for one proved that nh didn't win, that nh fans should beware and see how stuff like that came up because the story was still far from over.

That was the consequence of Sakura's tsundere behavior on which even joking or being serious would happen the same thing, i'm talking about the consequence of Naruto's quote on being serious, why hasnt Sakura talked with Naruto or Naruto explained what he said instead of an next panel about them talking about something else and ignored that he just called her his gf.

Yes it was, but there's no relevance on Naruto being serious or not, it wont change the consequences of what happened on that scene.

The reaosn why i cant take Naruto's quote serious is that there's nothing that suggests that his mindset about Sakura has changed, even later with him claiming she was his gf he got jealous about Sakura talking with Sasuke on 633, so what's up with Naruto?
It's a paradox that i'm unable to understand, i prefer to take it as a joke on which doesnt change the outcome of the scene and neither his feelings than to deal with this paradox and the complexity of the situation on which in one hand Naruto believes Sakura loves Sasuke and on the other hand believes she's his girlfriend.

The only thing i want to know from them is how Naruto joking on 631 disregard his feelings for Sakura?
When he did that on part 1 because he liked her, on every anime so far and manga that i've read it only happens when it's towards someome you like.

All I know is we see stuff related between Sakura and Kushina in 631, obviously this small notion should come back in the future in someway. Hell if Minato sticks around long enough to see Naruto and Sakura, if he gets a thought of himself and kushina seeing both of them at some point in the future, it would be a ground in overkill on NH and SS.

I really wouldn't be that surprised if this actually happens. Ever since 631 they'll do just about anything to bad mouth Sakura, NS, or anyone who even LIKES Sakura. That's a little too far for a fictional pairing I think.

Just saw a post on facebook claiming Naruto has a crush on sakura while Hinata's admiration for Naruto is true love. God that post gave me a good laugh. The admin was rambling on abt how 631 was a joke and how Naruto never expressed that he loves Sakura after chapter 3. Oh god, she even claimed that Naruto doesn't love Sakura. I mean, every action Naruto takes regarding sakura just screams " I love this spitfire and her happiness is the most important thing in my life ".
