I was actually about to post that!! BTW, does anyone have any info on how much the movie made so far?? I'd like to see if it's anywhere near RtN on a weekly average, at least. If it does well against RtN to be able to hold its ground, then that just shows how far Mashima's come along,

Also, these promotions are coming in late. I wonder if this is because of how much RtN sucked the attention away?? it feels kinda unfair .

Why do I have a Trunks Saga feeling right now? And GOD, that "to be continued" is so irritanting I can't take it! I think it's future Lucy the one under the coat btw :/ Next week is going to be a Boom for both Naruto and FT!

Yeah, the last page made me feel like really wanting to strangle Mashima's neck .

As for the chapter itself, someone has a great theory from MH:

I think that the hooded woman is Wendy from the future, I know Mashima's writing enough to tell that he doesn't associate panels with future narration.

It remembers me on how he kept pointing at Doranbalt whenever hinting at the 7th Kin of Purgatory only to throw Azuma on out faces.

Plotwise, it makes more sense to be Wendy because Lucy would necessarily be dead if her keys were to be used in the Eclipse plan.

Characterwise it also makes more sense to Wendy since only time travelling would allow for a grown up version of her to suddenly show up in the cast. Besides, the mysterious women showed right at Wendy's fight, it's subtle but it might indicate there is a connection.

To even further that point, the magic Jellal presenced was probably associated with the wind to the point he mistook Shelia for the source.


My theory is that the wrecked future is the GREAT MAGIC WORLD.

Ultear reached her fullpower and discovered how to send someone back in time but she herself was to weak and ravaged to be of use in the past.

Since Ultear had only enough power to send back one person and 10 years in the future every present adult was either dead or too weak to make a difference, Wendy was the most powerful person and the only one who could carry on the job.

The Great Magic World is flooded with magic in the air, Wendy spent 10 years on a hellish nightmare that ironically gave her the richest enviroment for her abilities to grow.

What caused the end of the world as we know it wasn't the dragons, besides Acnologia they aren't evil.

In my opinion, the end was brought forth by the Eclipse, demons and Acnologia.

Zeref's magic is heavily hinted to use human souls to create immensely powerful demons, Eclipse is the culmination of that. They will use Lucy's soul to open the gate to the magic of one and in the process she would become an evil god with the power to wipe the world clean and replace it with the great magic world.

This is why Levi is writing madly in Lucy's diary, she isn't actually dead but a rampant monster that brought the end of the world.

As for the dragons, they are the only thing alive putting up a fight against Zeref's nighmare, the future is basically a huge battlefield between dragons and Zeref's demon legions while humanity is doomed and Lucy is the third impact.

The woman being Future!Wendy would be interesting. I'd definitely love to see a fully matured Wendy with even greater power than as of the present.

Oh man the suspense!! Next week is going to be awesome for Naruto and FT. Whenever Levi starts narrating I get really scared but character death, the eclipse plan being good, dragon graveyard, mystery woman (maybe it's Rin )? From Levi's list of victims I think Gajeel might be one. Just what is going on? And that giant to be continued...

I feel the same way I did after the seven year time skip. Also, if the girl is a FT member from the future, then this is pretty identical to FFXI's plot in Wings of the Goddess. (Considering Mashima plays XI, that's honestly not surprising any more.) My crack possibility: Lucy's mom.

This is an interesting theory I saw on Tumblr!

First off, I would like everyone to recall the day of the Dragons’ disappearance and Layla Heartfilia’s “death” (and I use quotation marks because we’ve never been told how she died so what if she’s not really dead?). Now recall that Levy says in Fairy Tail 297, “We lost to destiny” - think of destiny as the day of destiny. And of course, that day would be 7/7/777, right?

Tell me now; they’re in the fourth day’s battle portion, right? (Well, they just finished it). They have one day to rest, and then on the SIXTH day will be the massive fight between all members of the remaining guilds…isn’t that kind of how it’s implied? So then…the day after that is the Day of Destiny, isn’t it? July 7, X791. Fourteen years after the “death” of Layla Heartfilia and the disappearance of the dragons. According to the crying Levy with two scars on her face from the last few pages of the chapter, they “lost to destiny”…and think of “…Died. …also died. And…and…my dear…also…. I can’t even put it into words, Lu-chan. I can’t take it anymore. Someone help us!”

This is the perfect time for those crazy theories to pop up.

Levy has taken up the pen and has been writing to Lucy in a manner that’s rather reminiscent of the way Lucy writes to her “dead” mother.

Is Lucy one of those who has died?

Or could it be that Lucy is alive, in a coma, and Levy is just trying to somehow contact her blonde best friend in whatever way she can? Perhaps Lucy was taken to the spirit world in order to survive and very nearly died and Levy can only contact her through letters?

We can clearly assume something is going to happen to Lucy, but what is still the question I think our entire fandom is asking.

And think back once more to the fact that Layla Heartfilia had at one point mentioned “The Power of One” to Lucy, because when Hades mentioned it Lucy was instantly reminded of her mother. That can’t be a coincidence. What did Zeref have to do with “The Power of One” and what did Layla know about it?

Could the mysterious figure that Jellal encountered possibly be Layla Heartfilia?

Who knows? He could be astonished at the striking resemblance to Lucy, or even because of the fact that Layla Heartfilia has been “dead” for fourteen years (because I bet he’s done his research on all the Fairy Tail members and their rumored family; or Ultear or Meredy did so).

But on another note, although I’ve yet to finish reading RAVE I’ve heard various things about a time-travel sort of incident. I’m not sure how accurate what I’ve gleaned from the mentions of it are, but that brings me to my next theory.

Lucy from the future knows what happened at the tournament, assuming she survived and Levy’s not writing her notes just to feel closer to her because she’s dead, so what if she has come back to try and prevent it all from happening? In which case Jellal would of course be flabbergasted because she has the power so close to Zeref’s…and she should be beat up in the infirmary rather than roaming the streets. The sense of impending doom on future-Lucy’s behalf would of course be enough to account for the tears scene earlier in chapter 296; she knows what will happen to her beloved nakama, so of course she’ll be crying about it.

Levy’s notes to Lucy could be ones that future-Lucy brought back with her so that Fairy Tail knew what would have befallen them had she not returned to interfere.

Another theory I’ve briefly considered is the possibility that future-Lucy would seek out her current counterpart and tell her everything so that both Lucys can attempt to interfere with the plans or the disaster waiting to strike. This could be the reason for what Charle has been seeing in her visions; Lucy singing in the collapsing palace. Lucy loves all of her guildmates dearly, does she not? And her future self would know that about her, so asking her to sacrifice herself for her friends, her “family”, would not be out of the question. I’m firmly of the belief that Lucy would do anything for Fairy Tail. It became her home and she would do anything to protect everyone in the guild—thus, Lucy Heartfilia becomes the sacrificial lamb that can avert the tragedy.

Even so, I don’t think Hiro Mashima-sensei would kill Lucy off.

Fairy Tail isn’t that kind of manga, and Lucy has been too integral a part for him to just knock her off like that. So she must survive somehow. Plus…I’m 99.9% certain that he ships NaLu just as much as many of his fangirls (and I am not asking for the derogatory or negative comments from NaLi or GraLu or LoLu fangirls here, it’s just an observation, thank you very much).

Which moves us on to the next topic.

What is Zeref’s importance in this arc?

Is Zeref possibly the reason why so many people died? Did Arcadias (Arcadios, depending on how you want to spell it) manage to execute the Eclipse plan, only to realize that it wasn’t all that he had hoped? Was the power too much for him to handle? Perhaps the opening of the Gate led Zeref into a rampage? And then; is Lucy the only one who can conceivably close the gate?

As to the last, I believe so. She is the strongest Celestial Wizard alive, and there is no questioning that. She doesn’t have ten of the Zodiac keys for nothing (and she would have pretty much all of them had she not refused them from Yukino). But then you think about what Yukino said as she left, about all of the Zodiac keys coming together when the time is right. This statement seems rather ominous to me; it’s as if Yukino knows more than at least I had previously suspected of her.

And what of the dragon graveyard that Gajeel stumbled upon?

What is the significance of the Dragon Graveyard? We assume that in years past, in the very arena where the Grand Magic Games are being held, dragonslayers and dragons fought each other to the death in order to claim the title of “Dragon King”. Is this about to occur for the first time in hundreds of years? Will some of the dragons return? Will Igneel, Metallicana, and Grandine be as loving and caring as Natsu, Gajeel, and Wendy remember them if they do, in fact, make appearances?

And what do the dragons, Zeref, and Layla Heartfilia all have in common with each other, the Day of Destiny, and “The Power of One”?

Lastly, I’d like to leave you with this one comment: Although until this point very few people have died in this anime/manga, I would like to point out that it’s getting too serious for everyone to come out unscathed. In fact, it would be rather bad storytelling if at least one or two people didn’t come out of this alive. I know everyone likes happy endings, but let’s be realistic.

Someone has to die.

I don’t know about anyone else’s opinions, but these have been my speculations combined with others that I have recently seen that seem plausible, though they each have a bit of my own theories or comments added in.

This has been panda0013 (here), Black-Dragon93 (deviantART), and Mrs. HopeEstheim (Fanfiction.net), giving you my opinion and possible theories. And this isn’t all…but I had to get them off my chest before I exploded (or imploded…one of the two).

I can kind of see that vibe, but not really. Erza treats both Natsu and Gray like younger brothers. She's got a canon love interest (we clearly haven't see the last of Jelall) and hasn't really shown any romantic intentions to anyone else besides him. As for Natsu, he also treats Erza with the reverence of an older sister - one he'd risk death for, of course, but he'd do that for anyone in Fairy Tail. They love each other as family, the only family they have left. That's why it's critical that the "introduced" characters, ones who were initially outside the group, be part of love interests in series. (Lisanna as the "girl next door" trope neatly circumvents that problem by disappearing for several years; upon her return she has the familiarity of family and yet the alien-ness of the "other" from being in Edolas so long.)

Back on topic... I wonder what the subject of the 2 week side story is going to be? We've already had "Macao and Wakaba get to see Jenny + Blue Pegasis nekkid" and now the "Erza In the Cat Woman Suit" gags.

I wonder if the world has literally split into two timelines, one where things went okay, and one where they went horribly wrong and everyone dies?

I get the appeal of Natsu x Erza, but it's clear that the story was build up for their relationship to be of a more familiar sense. It would get more attention if it wasn't the fact that:

1) Lucy is basically the closest girl to Natsu throughout the entire series. I think their bond is Hiro's favorite in the story.
2) Erza and Jellal are in love with each other. The one thing keeping them apart is that Jellal is a fugitive, otherwise it's already canon.

I don't really care for Erza x Jellal, I simply accept it as fact. But I do think that Lucy has the best chemistry with Natsu out of all the girls in the story.

In the beginning of Fairy Tail I actually like how there was a rivalry that was building up between Natsu and Erza, which is something that I found refreshing because I don't remember when was the last time that a male protagonist had a female rival. When their fight got interrupted I was sure that eventually it was gonna get resumed, but it seems Hiro forgot about it. I got my hopes up again in the S-class trial, but Natsu ended up fighting Gildarts and then Grimore Heart interrupted.

Given how easily Natsu defeated the twin DS, I wonder how he would currently fare against Erza. Still, we saw how she fought off those 100 monsters on her own (one of which was said to be strong enough to give a Saint wizard a challenge), so she's gotten crazy strong as well.

If it's not all the dragon slayers who are going to die. We have strong reason to suspect Gajeel is one of the unnamed. This whole Eclipse project likely involves the dragons. I suspect the dragon slayers, all half dozen of them, including the 2nd gen ones, are going to get killed, or at least be "mostly" dead. Whoever that is is determined to prevent this disaster from happening.

As long as I get FT every week I don't mind side stories, especially hilarious ones like this one! Oh my god I couldn't stop laughing when Natsu was standing in the middle of ground zero smiling proudly and Lucy was just "Don't...do it.."! I also really liked that Flare apologized to Lucy- that was probably my favorite part of the chapter. Can't wait for next week- especially the week after!

A word to sum up this chapter, Fanservice . I don't like ecchi much, but I was glad everyone made an appearance (Laxus!!). Lyon's stalking and Jellal with his mask were really funny. Mavis is soooo cute I wonder what's the next chapter will be?
