holy kitten luffy is giving doffy the blueno treatment. omg that snake serpent attack is killer. it'll follow doffy until it lands a hit. i wonder if luffy can do that in a normal gear 2nd state. and when luffy comes down to luffy it looks like he's using cp9's skywalk. and wtf, coa on his rubber? i thought his body parts that is covered with coa were unable to stretch?

Dude yes, he's giving doflamingo the business. The King Kong gun isn't a joke. I wonder if he was inspired by his encounter with Bellamy on Jaya, and just took it even further. Yeah! I noticed!!! Luffy is using the King Kong thing as a supplement to the Geppo! I'm not sure we were ever told that he couldn't stretch while using coa. Although to be honest, it really shows his proficiency with it, as he has shown the ability to cover more space with coa to cover his stretching body.

Out of likes...While OP shows of fights and amazing power ups...Naruto shows off sh*tty parents and family drama
The one series who represents true REAL Shonen should be painfully obvious now

his attacks appear to be more inspired from the animals on the island he trained on. also, i'm hearing that gear 4th may come with different forms. it'll sort of be like chopper's monster point forms. so he's only able to retract his arms because of how thick they are? because if that isn't the case, why isn't he doing this with gear 2nd or in base form for that matter? man there is so much force behdin that retractable punch that it sent doff flying miles away.
and did luffy get faster because doffy doesn't even see this hit coming at all.

I don't think Luffy would be able to do that in gear second, not because of the thickness, but because in gear 4, Luffy is fully controlling his muscles and manipulating them, it's different than just using his muscles to pump blood three or four times before actually fighting. So what he's actually doing in respects to both gears is different. Honestly though, of he could do it in gear second, it might have even more power behind it, because you're potentially applying the same amount of force in a smaller area, thus allowing for more force per square inch.
I think it's reasonable to think Luffy got much faster, because Doflamingo was able to see gear second at some point. He just got kittened up there XD

In name, yes, but I was talking about the actual function of the form itself, the way it's been described thus far, it seems to be based around being spring loaded, much like Bellamy. The only difference though, is that Luffy can retract his body inside of itself in order to exert greater force, much like Kaku did when he used his Bigan in his man-beast form. The reason I didn't liken it to Kaku is because Luffy never saw Kaku fight, so unless he heard a detailed account from Zoro, he wouldn't have known how Kaku fought.

it's most likely not based off of bellamy because he said that he's been fighting the monsters on the island for two years everyday using that giant form. the technique may look like kaku's, but that doesn't mean luffy tried to mirror it.
oh ok. i just really want a detailed explanation on gear 4 and how he came up with it. and oh my god, i want to see the damn monsters that had drove luffy to gear 4. are they the size of sea kings or something?
so i guess gear 2nd is still there, but with an additional gear 3rd with pumping legs to make him faster right? and coa seems to be stronger now? i remember when bellamy jacked luffy up and penetrated his coa. but now he's able to eat doffy's punches like it's nothing. does that have to do with a bloated luffy with coa on him as opposed to coa on a skinny luffy?

Also, I read the better translations, the armament Haki has the effect of tightening his rubber skin. Think of a rubber band that is really loose that you can pull easily, it doesn't have much force behind it when you release it after stretching it. Take the same size rubber band, but change the constitution of it so that it's more difficult to stretch. It's the same size, but it requires more force to pull back, but in return, because of more force that's applied, more force is released when the rubber band is released. That's the idea behind armament Haki over his new form.
ohhhhh so it only does that to him because he's rubber.???

Well, I didn't mean that the he took them from bellamy or Kaku just that the principles behind gear four might have been inspired by them, the same way that him moving at high speeds in second was inspired by the first encounter with CPN, and he saw the use soru.
Either that, or that crocodile is a kittening beast XD
I would assume so, but I'm not entirely sure. We'd have to see more of an explanation on that. On your next question, no, I don't think that his coa is any stronger, I think that it's like this because the gomu gomu nomi might be the most versatile devil fruit when it comes to the use of coa. look at this:
Coa's primary purpose is defense, but it is a sturdy defense, it's like hitting a brick wall. But Luffy is made of rubber. Haki can only negate df's when they come in contact with each other. Here however, luffy's body is covered with Haki, and it looks like he used his the ffourth gears control over the muscles in his rubber body to be able to recoil that section of his body away from the initial contact. So not only do you have force being lost when doflamingo hits the haki, but luffy being able to control his body to that degree allows him to move his body further away at the point of impact to lessen the force even more. It's just like when Lucci jumped backwards to avoid the brunt of the jet pistol when they fought.
ohhhhh so it only does that to him because he's rubber.???
I would guess so. It looks to be an ability unique to Luffy and Luffy alone.

if that is the case, i think it's more of oda unintentionally making his techniques work like kaku or bellamy, rather than having luffy inspired by them. but i think his attacks and his form are based off the animals on the island. his body is almost similar to that huge gorilla on the island with him, bloated stomach with big arms. and it wouldn't be a stretch to say that there was probably a giraffe there too. i think luffy dedicating a special move to someone was a one time thing, since ace is really precious to him. but more than anything, oda probably used nightmare luffy as inspiration for gear 4.
oohhhhhhh, now i get it. do you think if luffy didn't move his body further away to halve the damage, would he still be able to eat doffy's punch? does he not have full confidence in his coa doing all the work?

It's so interesting to see the Transitions of the Gears
Gear 1 - Normal Luffy
Gear 2 - Enhancing of Blood
Gear 3 - Enhancing of Bones
Gear 4 - Enhancing of Muscles + Alot more Haki infusion
I should've predicted Monkey. D Luffy becoming a Gorrila
Oda is just always one step ahead of everyone else.
I wonder if Luffy's final Gear would include all the 3 techniques for the Maximum/Ultimate utilization of the Gomu Gomu no Mi
