It's dsgusting really. And I stand by my original thought that he wanted a pairing for Sasuke first, then NH came later. 

 

(And, as an aside, as Chatte pointed out, why bring in Karin so heavy at the end? Just as a plot device to heal Sasuke? Ugh. I was never a SK shipper at all, but I have to admit she had a point. And it would have worked well with the whole Yin/Yang theory. )

 

I think the truth is Kishi never cared about the romance at all. Not that he was a bad writer, he was just kittening with every ship he could. Then in the end he picked one to continue the series with.

 

The upside is that, you're right, he is detonating himself in a spectacular fashion. It's just a huge wreck.

 

I'm past the heartbreak of realizing it isn't going to work out, when the last chapters came out. Now I'm just in utter disbelief at how this whole thing is going up in flames. I suppose that some cold comfort at least.

 

I suppose it is, and it's likely a lot of people will be against getting any new works of Kishimoto-sensei's if he's gonna do stuff like this. All he said just makes my kitten detector go off... =/

I never thought I would say this, but I think you're right. He said that for a time he wanted NaruSaku to be cannon. There is no doubt that Sakura was the destined one until the Pain Arc. Hinata's confession must, however, have changed his mind after he saw how popular Hinata became afterwards. So Kishi was really only playing with his fans. This is just too cruel.

This doesn't explain the Kushina comparison. What was the point?

Indeed, if I am bothered by anything it's that. You would hope that a cohesive and coherent product was the stop concern not just who was screwing who.

Personally, I'd have been just as critical had NS been executed in such piss poor fashion. I above all, want it to make sense.

As to Karin, that's probably why. It was not unusual for his to bring characters in just to serve as a plot device (Orochimaru's second coming, Kaguya for example).

That and to chronicle to the audience the decent in the darkness.

Problem is he rung a lot bells that could not be unrung no matter how hard he tried. And boy, did he try,

Except that she didn't heal him. After she was brought back post Kage Summit fiasco, she actually didn't do a thing aside from awakening the chains; which was about her feelings for Sasuke. In other words, something completely unnecessary given that he must have known he would throw Sasuke with Sakura by then.

 

But then again, this is the guy who wrote 631 while being perfectly aware that Naruto would wind up with Hinata. By that point, he was just throwing in red herrings to string shippers along to the bitter end; there is no other logical explanation to it.

I think I understand what he means. I know all of you won't agree on that, but I think counting love as an aim for Naruto that was part of his nindo of never giving up was wrong. Love was never a big deal for Naruto. The Promise of a Life Time and Sai confessing Naruto's love was just for drama purpose and also leading to NS death with the fake confession that put an end to NS. 
Also this interview shows that every shippers were somehow right in their interpretation: NH/SS were right for their interpretation from at least Pain Arc while NS were right for their interpretation of the beginning of Part 2 until Pain Arc. I think Kishi wasn't sure on which couple he wanted in Part 1 thus leading him to give hints and moments to every ship. He wasn't very invested in romance in Part 1.

What happened was that kishimoto completely failed at Sakura's confession, he wanted to show a honest girl (by his words) and ended up with the fandom perceiving her as a liar.
We see that he made a strength to revitalize NS with the paralalels and whatsoever but...ultimately he got tired of Nardo

Afterwords he just followed his editors ideas.

I hope that someday in the future, when everyone has worn of the Shipping Googles, people understand how horrible this war arc has been. At least I've come to fully realize it, but I wish would have done it sooner. Pulling of the narrative with Obito enraged literally every fan; Madara was pushed to the side in the most ridiculous way; and Kaguya was the biggest asspulled villain I've ever witnessed in the history of manga. The end couples just fit perfectly into this ludicrous and inconsistent writing.
