Yes, in fact, I can't believe the marketing department doesn't have him tied up in a back room somewhere until the movie comes out.

WHY alienate half of your fan base? Why? Why not leave some suspense about the movie? Why not say the positive about Sakura and why she should be with Sasuke (even if its total BS), so that Sakura fans will still want to see the movie?

This all makes no sense to me.

edit: Witnessing the end of Naruto as we knew it is like watching a slow motion explosion. It just keeps going. Whatever comes out in the movie will be only second to this craptastic interview.

At this point it's like watching NASCAR. Nobody is around for the main event anymore. Just the car crashes.

Is it awful that I am getting so much entertainment out of this disaster?

Wow. I just 2s7yn7o.gif

I would like to know when was that "quite a long time ago". Was it before Sakura's confession to Naruto, or was it after the bad reception it got?

Certainly after,
I'd say though it was after 615 and its comercial success

No, you're not the only one. Y'know, if my religion didn't ban me from drinking, I'd be be drinking to our vindication of the whole series. So I'll settle for good ol' ginger ale or Green Sands. That okay with you?

The evidence suggests that the vocal NH/SS fans are responsible for forcing this rickety train off the rails in the first place.  I'm not sure what part of that truth sickens me the most -- the reality that such loud, senseless voices exist, or that they have that much power.

NH and SS were both very poor relationships, in terms of how they were written and what they represented in terms of character growth.  What does it say about people -- about human society -- if such sickening relationships are cheered into existence at the cost of logic and artistic integrity, and so many people are happy about it...?

It's really depressing when you think about it.

Indeed, if I am bothered by anything it's that. You would hope that a cohesive and coherent product was the stop concern not just who was screwing who.

Personally, I'd have been just as critical had NS been executed in such piss poor fashion. I above all, want it to make sense.

He had to be sarcastic about Sakura being a horrible woman if she moved on from Sasuke. He has to be. After going through the trouble of making that relationship look so bad and its effect on Sakura...How could you write that and think she would be a horrible woman to want to move on?

No excuses, thats not even thinly veiled misogyny.

The fact that he's had NaruHina planned out for so long and did almost nothing to build a relationship between the two just makes him look even worse as a writer. From the looks of it, he knew and pretty much stuck with the idea from the jump

I think he's trying to justify SS. I think he's totally serious. It matches with how he portrayed Naruto. Has there ever been a character given so much undeserved love as Sasuke?

I think I understand what he means. I know all of you won't agree on that, but I think counting love as an aim for Naruto that was part of his nindo of never giving up was wrong. Love was never a big deal for Naruto. The Promise of a Life Time and Sai confessing Naruto's love was just for drama purpose and also leading to NS death with the fake confession that put an end to NS.

Also this interview shows that every shippers were somehow right in their interpretation: NH/SS were right for their interpretation from at least Pain Arc while NS were right for their interpretation of the beginning of Part 2 until Pain Arc. I think Kishi wasn't sure on which couple he wanted in Part 1 thus leading him to give hints and moments to every ship. He wasn't very invested in romance in Part 1.

It's clear that Kishi wanted his real hero (Sasuke) to have a happy ending.

Even without the pairing trainwreck this story was terrible. ln hindsight we should have known he'd asspull SS and NH after he tried to sell Itachi as ninja Jesus, completely ignoring his pointless torture of Sasuke and how he told him to kill his bestfriend and live a life or hate, or when Neji never escaped his fate and died to protect the main branch's husbando, the guy who was destined to become hokage through his birth.

Kishimoto is a moron with orange and blue morality. Just the perfect mix to write a coherent, relatable story.

Part of me has always lynch-pinned Itachi's reveal as being the downfall of the story. Its around that time where the trend of every villain being "Not that bad" starts to come into play.

But even back in part one I thought that there was more to him going off on the Clan like that...but I just thought it was because they were all kittens and his dad pushed him too far  :hm:

It's dsgusting really. And I stand by my original thought that he wanted a pairing for Sasuke first, then NH came later.

(And, as an aside, as Chatte pointed out, why bring in Karin so heavy at the end? Just as a plot device to heal Sasuke? Ugh. I was never a SK shipper at all, but I have to admit she had a point. And it would have worked well with the whole Yin/Yang theory. )

I think the truth is Kishi never cared about the romance at all. Not that he was a bad writer, he was just f*cking with every ship he could. Then in the end he picked one to continue the series with.

The upside is that, you're right, he is detonating himself in a spectacular fashion. It's just a huge wreck.

I'm past the heartbreak of realizing it isn't going to work out, when the last chapters came out. Now I'm just in utter disbelief at how this whole thing is going up in flames. I suppose that some cold comfort at least.

I never thought I would say this, but I think you're right. He said that for a time he wanted NaruSaku to be cannon. There is no doubt that Sakura was the destined one until the Pain Arc. Hinata's confession must, however, have changed his mind after he saw how popular Hinata became afterwards. So Kishi was really only playing with his fans. This is just too cruel.
