Of course, it will not be the exact same scenario, but I think it can give us some hints on how NS will become canon.

When I read this, I can easily imagine the same words coming from Sakura.


Maam : You've been hurt... and sad...all those times because of me. (after realizing that he's in love with her)
Sakura : I'm the one who caused him th emost pain. (after realizing that he's in love with her)

I really liked Poppu's confession, and I hope it will be something like this for Naruto.


Does that really matter ?
I'm not talking about "copying someone else work", I'm talking about insipiration.
And it's obvious that Kishimoto was inspirated by the pairing story between Poppu, Maam, Hyunkel, Merle and Aimi.
I never said that it happened exactly the same in Naruto, I just say that there are some obvious parallels.

I think this scenario already blow up with sakura's confession, this scenario is unlikely to happen it will be MinaKushi all over again.

Are you talking about Poppu and Maam ?
Cause THEY ARE the main characters with Dai, Hyunkel and Crocodine.
Leona is just the princess and doesn't make often appareance in the manga.
She's an important character, but I don't think you can qualify her as "main character" because of the lack of her apparitions compared to our heroes.

The whole story is about Dai, Poppu and Maam.
I suggest you to read it, it really is a good Shonen. (even if first chapters are pretty old)
Maybe you will understand me better with this.

Well, Kishi loves the movie How to Train Your Dragon and of you saw the movie, you'll know what kind of romance it went through. That's just me.

The similarities really are striking in this case, though.

He only said he was inspired by Slam Dunk and Dragon Ball (have to find this old interview).
It makes sense for Slam Dunk about pairing :


The hero loves the girl
The girl loves the bad boy
The bad boy loves... Basket Ball.

But Dragon Quest is closer too Kishimoto's pairing story, because we have side characters like Merle and Aima who are taking part in the Love Triangle.
And Maam realizing her feelings for him, Merle's sacrifice and confession, a girl who's in love with two men, a man who wants to have revenge and fall into darkness, and so...
Those subjects were all used in Naruto' love story.
That's why I think that Kishimoto was more inspired by Dragon Quest FOR HIS PAIRING STORY.



He also said that one of his favorite movies were the Star Wars SAGA. This explains Obito and Sasuke turning into vilains.

Like I said, it's from Dragon Quest, but darkerest think that it is because Poppu isn't main hero (even if he is the second most important main character in the manga) that parallel or insipiration for Naruto doesn't count.
And like I said, he was inspired by the pairing story between Poppu, Maam, Hyunkel, Aimi and Merle.
I don't see what the "main character argument" has to do with that.

And what does it matter that they aren't the main characters? A parallel does not require identical character roles.

yes but not the manga but the GAME. he is fan of dragon quest. plus akira toriyama who desing the character.

And Merle knowing all the time that Poppu loves Maam. Reminds me the hug scene in Naruto where you can see Hinata smiling without saying anything.

wow @Sojobo Nice find!! The similarities really are striking there! there is no way that Kishi hasn't been inspired by this manga, the pairing structure are frightfully alike. I can really see Naruto confessing to Sakura that way. But I do hope that Naruto and Sakura got a conclusion of their feelings instead of a open ending (even if it's implied they eventually will be together in the future).

The only thing that bothers me when I find that type of similarities between different mangas is because we don't know which couple Kishimoto sympathized , which means if he wants .. he can change which couples will become canon even if they have the same type of development. (even though it looks like he's indeed following to a ending similar to DQ)

Wow ... just saw those Dragon Quest comparisions and I'm in shock. Sojobo, you're so right! That confession scene between Maam and Pop was so much like NaruSaku, it's ridiculous. I could do easily picture the NS confession going down exactly like that. Especially the near-kiss and how Maam got pissed at Pop for tricking her like that, calling him an idiot, so NS! And the Merle/Hinata comparision ... strikingly similiar, Hinata said a lot of stuff similiar to that. Except she actually said "I love you" and if Hinata really dies risking her life for Naruto, I can't see her telling him to say who he loved though.

The Hyunkel scene was less strong, since I don't picture Sasuke being that nice telling her something like that. XD But when he turns good, if Sasuke lives, I can see him telling her to forget about him and realize she loves Naruto (maybe not that word for word, but similiar). He'd just be a lot more abrupt and rude with it.

Really nice parallels! I suddenly want to get into Dragon Quest, it seems interesting.
