I'm glad to see you're still around ramenanmitsu. I understand why you want to quit but I would like you to stay...
I agree with you about NaruSaku as a pairing. I still think it's the endgame, but I'm like you I love them because I was able to admire, sympathise, and enjoy the couple, just as you said. What I like about them is not just the finallity, or win some puerile battle. I know it's needed to clear up everything about Sakura's feelings for Sasuke, but I'm started to think it's taking too much time to be honest. Well, I'm still waiting for the raw to confirm, but I really don't understand why would Kishi said that her feelings changed back then through Kakashi, and then this chapter... If she really used present tense, then it's a mess. Really.
I also agree with you about Naruto. In the beginning, Naruto was able to yell at Sasuke, he seems more real to his feelings. Now it's true he's a little less reactive, and sometimes it's disappointing me. An example, that time when Sasuke almost killed Sakura and Naruto saved her. Naruto almost said nothing to Sasuke. I was really surprised. I think Kishimoto wants Naruto to look wiser than he was before, because he came to terms with his dark part, but it also made him a little weird, and I think even if this Naruto is more peaceful, the Naruto of the past seemed more real. He was full of passion, and lately, it's not so flagrant. I would like Naruto to be full of passion again.
About Sakura, really, the only explanation I can come up with for this chapter is that Kishi wanted her to say all this to make Sasuke say bluntly that he doesn't care about her. But if you look closely, you can see Sasuke's face seems a little fake. To me it's obvious he's touched by Sakura's words. He thought about his family also. To me it's meaning that Sasuke assimilate team7 as family. I still don't think Sasuke has some romantic feelings for her, but I think he cares deeply.
Maybe all this commotion was also to bring up the PoaL.
Also; it's not all over, so maybe Sakura will come back later. It felt to me that Kishi was setting her up for later because she was again harsh to herself and saying she was pathetic. When she's harsh to herself, she shines later on.
Maybe with the next chapter everything will become clear. But I was so clean with Manpanda version, I mean, I'm really chocked by Mangastream version. And if mangastream version is right, I swear, it feels like fanfiction. If this is right, I don't what know the kitten Kishi is doing.
Thanks for your post.
You might be right and I don't disagree with you. I also did think that Sasuke using a genjutsu instead of downright stabbing her might be an indication that he's remembering the bonds he had with team seven. And this might be a set-up for that. But frankly, I'm tired of how Kishi uses Sakura in order to get his message across. He purposely damages Sakura in order to make Naruto and Sasuke look stronger, to emphasize their bonds, to make them look cool. He's using Sakura as a plot device to make way for the other characters to shine. This is an author abusing his most harmless character because he has no ability to get his point across in other convincing ways.
I also don't disagree that this might be a set-up for her future development. But I can't bring myself to care anymore. I'm not going to read this manga because my favorite character is finally going to gain her development at chapter 748 in a 750 chaptered story. Every character have their ups and downs, they make mistakes and learn from it, become better, and that is character development. Sakura makes mistakes, learns from it a hundred chapters later, develops a hundred chapter later, make the SAME mistake again, goes back in the background and disappear for a while. This is NOT steady character development. This is Sakura going back and forth. Kishi tends to put on repeat the mistakes Sakura made, probably because he lacks the ability to develop his characters in a realistic way so he decides to recycle them. It only ends up showing that Sakura never learns.
@KnS
I thought about that before but what else would have Naruto thought? Sasuke has chidori'd Naruto through the chest, chidori'd his Kage Bunshin, tried to Chidori Sakura's skull, tried to stab her with a kunai, tried to penetrate Kakashi with that Susanoo arrow, chidori'd Karin's chest.....considering Sasuke's history, if Naruto can't imagine Sasuke doing anything equally as gruesome as the things above, he's downright delusional. Surely, he didn't think of Sasuke showing a genjutsu of making Sakura drink a sleeping potion did he?
And even if he was delusional, that still doesn't convince me that he would have acted any way different if he could have seen it. This opinion is based on what I saw in the five Kage arc.
