His distaste for all of his characters not named Sasuke or Hinata is ridiculous.
Hmm... I would include both in there. Both of them had potential, and got screwed over in that their primary role is to stand there looking good, and make Naruto and Sakura look bad. They haven't been given an actual character or a personality for a while, especially Hinata.
I had quite a bit of hope for them in part 1. Sasuke's circumstances were dark and we saw different sides to him, both positive and negative, allowing us to understand him and his reasoning for his actions (however misguided they were). We saw that he was a downright jerk, but also that there was hope for him, and despite everything, was Naruto's first friend, and one of the first people to truly understand him. He was a pretty good character that was multi-layered. And then he went spiralling downwards.
Hinata, too, had potential. She was shown to be a sweet-natured girl who was a bit of an outcast in her family, with her father favouring Hanabi, and Neji held a misguided grudge against her. She was the black-sheep in the Hyuuga clan, and not many actually had much hope for her. She was a sympathetic character that I wanted to cheer on, and was so happy when she was finally acknowledged. I thought she would find courage within herself to become strong in her own way, and lead the Hyuuga clan and bridge the Main and Branch Houses.
Clearly, I was wrong. Instead she was regressed to the point where her defining trait are her boobs, and has no life outside her precious "Naruto-kun". SP and Hinatards may claim to love her, but they clearly don't give a kitten about her actual character.
