Which begs the question (not really), does that mean Kishi acknowledge his screwjob by repeating the same story, which leads to calling Naruto out on his failure, which doesn't lined up with other characters before him, which...*blown*

Perhaps, but it would have been even better if he didn't screw up in the first place. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I will not surprise, but I think he will say that bs is narusasu not happen because both of them is men.

@touken
I don't understand?

You would think Sarada would be the one liking him. Instead, it's part 1 ordeal. So that means that Kishi acknowledged that's the story on how he works. But then we have Naruto who is the only guy that shift target, so does that mean Naruto is a failure? Because that sure looks like it.

Perhaps he should have never love Sakura in the first place. I would be fine with that. But no, it's a disaster.

Indeed. Naruto should have never had a romance subplot, or at the very least, Kishi should have kept it simple. No stupid love triangle. Don't get me wrong, the story already had lots of problems, but they could at least have been somewhat solved if the series had been given a proper ending. Instead Kishi just left all these plot threads hanging and then slapped a bad love story on top of it, which only ended up making things worse.

For shame Kishi.

Well the constant thing that gets brought up is that The next generation always surpasses the previous generation so I guess you can say Naruto is a failure. Although what I find ironic behind the whole surpassing the next generation is that Obito (who was like Naruto) ended up getting the girl (Rin) while Naruto didn't.

Which is odd and bad writing because it's not like we about to watch this series since it came from an original source in the first place. Why should we care now? What was the point of the main series? Don't negate everything we built upon.

Depend on the writer, some of writers who have clear vision of their work will shrug it off. Some will bend over the demand of market.

Change based on popularity is not new in manga world. Rose of Versailles main character was Marie antonite, but due to her low popularity and lady oscar rise popularity, they change the mc to a popular side character. The change proof a success.
So it's not new in the commercial magazine who will kick out new comer if they are not popular like jump.

Geez, I didn't even realize that Marie Antoinette was the MC :wot: Lady Oscar was the MC all the time for me.

What's even worse is that we spent years watching Naruto grow, not just as a ninja but also as a character, only to have him fail in the end. Same with Sasuke and Sakura. That's just dumb.

Then again I don't think Kishi has even considered that the ending goes against one of the principal themes of the manga. I think he just needed a way to extend the story and family drama was the only thing he could think of.

There might have been a time when there was actual thought and intent behind Kishi's story, but that time is long gone.

Like I said in my rant the entire journey is pointless if ending destroys the journey. There's no reason for anyone to read or re-read "Naruto" because in the end it's all pointless. Everything that has even happened in it and every piece of dialog and every battle and every development and everything you can think of was made pointless, meaningless and irrelevant. Everything that we loved about it has no meaning anymore.

It was all sacrificed to gave birth to a rehash of things that we already saw before, but told a bit differently with characters that no ones cares about.

                         CZSn9hA.jpg

Which I've told you - time and time again - is dangerous! There will never be consensus, son, among those you have helped to ascend. They will all differ in their views of what it means to be free. The peace you so desperately seek does not exist.

These men are united now by a common cause. But when this battle is finished they will fall to fighting amongst themselves about how best to ensure control. In time it will lead to war. You will see.

I've said this before, but Kishi had one shot at getting this right literally.  To be fair I knew something was up the moment we got the notice that Naruto would end in 5 weeks when the fight between Naruto and Sasuke was just about to start. Then of course we got The Last and it had the stupid red scarf and right before we got the confirmation that it was canon I was like "Where the hell was the scarf in the beginning there was no reference to it at all in the manga." and that was my biggest indication that Kishi just came up with that plotline on the spot.

If I'm not mistaken, he got the tablet from his assistance. But I forget what is the interview.
I think the one who provide the information from Internet is jump editorial or sp, or both.
For jump, I think they pander over the biggest bid (nh & ss fan).
For sp, well they're bias.

I still think character popularity poll is the one who make kishi took the decision.

Someone knew someone who worked for the publishing company for  naruto and she wrote down on twitter of why the ending of naruto went the way it did.

Currently on twitter, a Japanese nrt fan (locked account) who apparently knows someone at Shueisha and the said person leaked the truth behind the ending; this information is being escalated around among fans on twitter. I would like to thank a friend who kindly notify me about this and gave a brief translation; however, this is not word for word translation and just a gist of it. Also, for personal reasons, I’m not going to post all tweets:

The editors themselves hated sakura and started a negative campaign

Kishimoto tried to push sakura and was supported by other mangaka by the editors in shueisha refused to allow a sakura ending

Using a mail magazine within shueisha the editors even circulated the news about sakura being voted most hated character overseas

They even sent it with the video showing sakura being voted most hated with the email magazine

During the pain arc they apparently sent a questionnaire out that asked which one do you think is the heroine - sakura or hinata?

And apparently hinatards sent lots of comments about how hinata already confessed and yet Sakura is a kitten for still hugging naruto

And that’s how they picked the heroine

A lot of hinatards also sent threatening letters to shueisha stating they want nh

Hinatards also tried to get petition signatures in front of animate and where warned to stop

So that’s why it went this way

Pressure from editors and hinatards and s fans not knowing so they couldn’t counter the lobbying of the hinatards

As for the popularity poll that was given to kishi at the time was from an email, mail magazine, a video that stated that sakura was the most hated character in the franchise and a questionnaire of who was a better herione during the pain arc. It was the editors of shueisha that did that.
