Why I think the chapter is so bad? I can't. The only thing I can think of is that Kishi intentionally made it bad.

 

 

I know. And I mentioned later in the post how conflicted I feel reacting to this chapter. On one hand, I find Sakura's actions as a character after 693 really distasteful (as I do for most of the characters). Additionally, I have no interest in these new characters or this new story so I don't feel bad at all for Sakura's terrible situation. But I also acknowledge that I'm dangerously close to victim blaming and that is something I am really cognizant of "in real life." As a result, i'm left feeling unsettled by this entire chapter and the situation Kishi has presented us.

I am as conflicted as you. Sakura is my favourite character and she is absolutely miserable and pathetic. I'm no longer debating anyone calling her that, but I think it's important to see the bigger picture too. Look at the man behind the writing, there is this really bad and misogynistic middle aged jeezer that's in charge of something so (initially) beautiful. Look at this disaster. There are many moments here from the old days. I kinda ship ShikaTema, but I also want them divorced lmao. Original Temari never tolerated a man's kitten.

Ugh. I'll pass please. We already had a 700 chapter story about an Uchiha.

Yeah, this definitely seems to be an extension of typical Kishi misogyny. I'm sure this will end up having some happy ending where Sakura and Salad learn that enduring and being patient are the ways to deal with an important man who is always away during important work.
