QUESTION TIME!!!

Many people speculate that Sakura consciously lied when she said she loved Naruto since she couldn't look him in the eye. That's a reasonable assumption based on the believe that when people lie they look away in order to deal with the nervousness of it.

Now I remember there's a scene in Storm 3 where Minato praises Kushina's good characteristics and she looks away because she feels to embarrassed to look at him in the face. I also remember how in the 1st Shippuden movie Shion also looked away when she started to fall for Naruto.

My question would be: Could it be that Sakura looked away simply because she was feeling embarrassed and not because she was consciously lying? That would mean that whether she truly loves Naruto or not when she confessed at that moment she mentally believed she was in love with him.

What do you guys think?

She was embarassed by the fact there was other people there looking at them, but yes she lied when she said "i love you" and when she said that Sasuke means nothing to her but she didnt lied when after knew that it would not work she looked at her heart and said all the things that she think of Naruto, it was her last attempt and this part was genuine.

it was alwayss clear that she lied.... but that doesnt mean that she doesnt care about him. She didnt want to see naruto dying or get more pain.. i guess

I did no care that she lied, it was clear that she was genuine on her reasons where she said about why she should be in love with Naruto, that was enough.

It wasnt because of that, the confession and killing Sasuke was a part of her plan, she thought she only bing burden to Naruto.
Her plan was to confess to Naruto she knew she would fail then she told him what she really thinks about Naruto, things that she had on her heart it could be a "farewell" to Naruto on some sense, then she went to kill Sasuke she thought she was able to kill him but it was kinda obvious that it would fail.

Sai said she was doing Naruto suffer with her promise she wanted to break it and let him hate her.
Kakashi said that Sasuke was immune to that poison even if she could make a scratch it would be for nothing she would die 100% sure, but it wasnt what kishimoto wanted to do here, his intentions were to show to Naruto and Sakura what Sasuke has become.

To m e it was clear that Sakura wanted to force herself to forget Sasuke because he was hurting her Naruto and could cost something bigger than the two of them so by killing Sasuke she was thinking about Naruto has someone she cares for, the future of the villages and avoid an international war, so in a way she was being honest about her feelings for Sasuke at that moment since she really wanted to do it, the problem is that she could not deceive her heart or the feelings she try to ignore or forget.

Also I feels that Kishimoto hurt Sakura character the moment he made her hesitate to kill Sasuke for fan girl reason instead of the the bond Team 7 share and the genuine thank she got from Sasuke, in some way it made Sakura look like a selfish person that would give up the safety of others and the safety of someone she presume she wants to protect from keep hurting himself with his endless chase to save Sasuke, she ignored what was right because she couldn't forget handsome Sasuke.

So until the day Kishi clears that up he will always be a terrible writer and awful when it comes to portraying females in my eye.

But i agree with you on the last part, her love for Sasuke is always portraited as selfish, since the begining of the series, it's not a surprise that it got portraited again, but you got the message this love almost was the reason of her death.
I think the way that the scene was portraited was for the audience feel sorry for Sakura.

The last thing I ever need is that selfish reason can win you love. I really don't think or at least hope not that this is what Kishi is planning. I understand the premise of SS is something that audience is familiar with, but the problem is the bond of SS isn't the same as you thought. I have seen SS premise, but done a million times better, but I don't think Kishi is aiming for that at all. If that was the case, we should have gotten more developments in part 2, mainly from Sasuke's side. The big problem for SS is that Sakura does have two directions to go, unlike other anime/manga that the female character only has one. To make matter worse, the story isn't about her, it's about the guy name Naruto and his theme/story suggests overcoming the odds and ideal of role model. That makes SS in caution yellow zone. Red will be when Sakura is beginning to rethink of her feelings.

Lol good point. Fine, maybe evacuation will be when she is about to say that she's falling for Naruto. You can say she already has, but best for everyone to hear her say it and confirm it since many don't think she has unaware feelings for Naruto.

This is why I love the confession so much, everybody has different opinions on it and at the end of the day it's just a huge mystery. I have no idea what to think about it after hearing so many theories and explanations for it, and that to me is a good thing. Good in small amounts, can't have the whole manga being a mystery though, but this much is fine

That's true. To think, when it comes to theories in Naruto, because it is known to spread stuff like this, the confession is now part of it. Goes to show you the NS story does flow with the main story.

I dont think it sounded horrible shortly after it's shown that she was only thinking on Naruto's well being, it was a lie not matter what interpretation is, "i love you" was a lie.
But before it she think about her feelings for Naruto and the conclusion was the page that i post (page 15) chapter 469, those feelings make her feel that she's able to love him later but she cant say i love you to Naruto genuinely when she still loves someome else, even if you say that her "i love you" is true does not change the fact that she wasn capable of killing Sasuke because she loves him and also there's 540.

So let me resume to you the this whole mini-arc.
Sakura loving Naruto = positive, Sakura loving Sasuke = negative.

She did lie. But her lie wasn't towards Naruto but towards her. Problem is the confession was meant to hide something from Naruto, and Naruto detected that and that's why he called bullsh** on the matter.

Think Naruto felt betrayed by her because he wants to het Sasuke back.

Heyy my lovely friends!! How y'all doin' man im soo busy with my studies but as soon as march break arrives im debating again! I was just lurking in NF ns fanclub part 3 finally caught up! Now I have to catch up here! Awsome posts though guys!

Maaan about the NS event in japan maan my heart...cant stand it oh and about the ns chapter contest thingy, im guessing the nesxt ns moment will be on chapter 633!

I also believe that sakura hasn't appeared till now is cuz shes up for a big role, besides now is the time for the rookies to shine, and also, in chp 573 when all the rookies finished their speeches in the end sai said, "so this is what its like to have friends" then we have sakura which is after all the "friends" speeches.

Bottom line sakura is a lover, well thats what kishi is making it look like, so I believe sakura's time to shine wont be a "moment" no no, she's the heroine which means she's ALWAYS getting spotlight, but lately shes been lacked, because its time to wrap up the rookies, so he can start with whats important aka sakura chan, sai, kakashi etc.
