Nah, those figures have removable heads. The person who took the pictures simply switched them.

Well she has an important role in the movie, even bigger than the real heroine which is sad. So it's expected that she appears in a lot of merchandise.

I wonder whether we will get at least some positive SakuraXNaruto dynamic. Naruto always acts so special towards Sakura with his big smile, but that is just in the manga. In all the movies, except for RtN, I felt like they were strangers to each other. Their interactions were very limited and full of Sakura's "tsundere behavior", making them look forced and hardly loving even from Naruto's side. I am adressing what a lot of us, including me, have said about the last 2 chapters - that they didn't show us NarutoXSakura interaction, because it would break the dynamic they forced on us, making it a genjutsu with just one big smile and gentle "Sakura-chan". But knowing SP I'm not expecting such a problem in the movie.

if you have feel offend by the comment I made, I'm sorry :). it wasn't my intention.

I know that you tried to explain why SS is more popular in japan. The thing is just that I don't see the cultural difference being the point. Sometime in those abusive relationship, the "dominant male" shows at least that he care I mean he tried 1 too many time to kill her, which in my opinion you're have to be derange or voluntary blind to agree with this kind of behaviour.

Plus for me, it just about story 101, main character, love interest and rival dynamic. He created Sakura and Sasuke because once he draw Naruto, he didn't know how to start his story.  I don't think japan was the issue. Naruto become is the number 1 manga worldwide, but not in japan. I think it's one piece there. I think the editor therefore made Kishi sold out to NH and SS (making 2 of the most wanted pairing canon in 1 move.). In my opinion, culture has nothing to do with it. You can have cultural reference in a story, but t the way a story is written is universal. Coherency in a story must be universal.

You have to decern the character dream, ambition and goal right from the start. If they changes, it must be toward story progression, no matter where you from. That's why a book can sell and translate in different language, the story is good enough to pass cultural distinction.

Sasuke never show in shippuden that he cared one bit for Sakura. and you show Sakura develop somewhat of a feeling for Naruto, plus questioning her feeling for Sasuke. (Again in storytelling 101, Sasuke is the rival who got the love interest attention at the start and it shows that the main character has to win her over. Story progress like that little by little until 699, where it go completely backward).

That why I don't believe that cultural reference has anything to do with it. Sorry if you felt bully in anyway, it wasn't my attention. I'm not here to fight with you or anyone for that matter :) .

Its ok, it was James S Cassidy who openly attacked me.

You are also right, but I was talking about why SS ship is popular and why it was "acceptable" for Kishi to choose such ending despite all the abuse that was shown. I agree that according to the rules of literature it was a strange and bad move, that there was not enough development, that NS was the logical and obvious option that was foreshadowed from the beginning and that by abandoning NS Kishi came close to ruining characters of his main protagonists - which all leads to my belief that Kishi indeed sold out.

I was simply saying that this ending would look WAY more controversial if it was written by a western author for the western audience. It doesn't matter if SS is popular in the west. If young girls ship it, it doesn't mean the author has an option of stating something like that through his public work of literature. He would be pressured by society, by critics, by a more mature audience. The question of what lesson he is giving to the young audience would be raised left and right.

It won't happen in Japan. Because of those differences that I noted. Kishi made a bad artistic decision (sold out) when he went for SS, but he had an option to do so, he didn't have a moral turmoil about it most likely, it was just another option in romantic subplot for him. Yes, I suppose he must have understood that NS had more development, but that aside, he was free to choose SS despite of all the horrific interactions between Sakura and Sasuke. Just because the society of Japan would not see at as a moral outrage.

Thus we have it.

I noticed that you and tricksie are discussing about culture difference and that might relate to why sakura was handled as a housewife and loyal lover to the abuser.

I found an interesting topic about that on tv tropes. Not to long ago i saw a movie called the wolf children and it had a female lead that went from a strong energetic girl to a weak submissive girl. I even saw a video were the director claimed that the girl turning more submissive is a sign of maturing which is something i found shocking. That was until i did a research of that movie myself on tv tropes. While researching i ran into the ymmv section theres a trope called "vaules dissounce".  In that section i found interesting examples of how female characters are handle due to cultural reasons.

http://tvtropes.org/...aluesDissonance

Whats your opinions on this? I would not mind a topic for it to.

Thank you for a very good link!

I didn't have time to read all of it, but I read about Anime and Manga and it was entertaining and useful.

Also this information was very new to me:

"In Naruto, Sakura kicks in the face a man who grabs her butt. When the client she's watching over notes that girls in his town don't look after themselves that way, Sakura declares that they should.

It should be noted, however, that the creator of Naruto grew up near a US military base and has some frankly American attitudes about a lot of things."

I always remember how difficult it is for a lot of westerners to understand the complex of tsundere and the classic japanese comedy of hitting someone without being abusive. I am NOT comparing that to Sasuke's abuse per se, his is very different in color. But I do believe that both lie in the territory of differences in cultural perceptions.

I'm glad I didn't hurt you feeling :).

But I just can't agree with you lol (maybe I'm too deep in western culture, though even here, bad boy get the hot chick, good guy get friendzone, but it's not real life, it's a story:P )

Let compare it to  dragon ball  manga that inspire Naruto) Toriyama never really develop Goku love interest. Anyway Goku married Chi-chi, vegeta married bulma. Both couple portray man doing their thing, woman doing their thing. If we parallel Naruto, we can see Naruto and Sasuke doing there thing, Sakura and Hinata doing their thing. So both women become housewife might seem like a big deal in the west but I suppose it's not a big deal in the east. That I agree.

Would you agree with me  if I compare Vegeta to Sasuke ( an anti-hero who got some sort of redemption, though Sasuke flip-flop a lot more. )

Vegeta though never saying he love his wife, did show it by his action. In cell saga we see that he got an interest, buu saga just before he blow himself up, hell battle of the god when the villain hit Bulma. He never said anything, Japenese are shy to talk about feeling, but the action show that he has an interest.

Sasuke in shippuden has many occasion to save Sakura during the war, but he take none. He did tried to stab through her to get Madara. And clearly state in 693 that he doesn't love her and don,t understand why she bother.

SS make no sense from a story POV and to me, even Japenese culture can't justify it because it's not like he hit her or tried being the dominant male type, he tried to end her. I'm not sure murder attempt on the loved one is really in any culture a proof to show love, except for insane people like the Joker and Harley Quinn.

Maybe SS is more popular for a looking reason. Sasuke look more like a Japanese than Naruto, so having him hook with the hot girl might be the case. Some reason can be stupid like that ( a NH fan told me he was a fan of that couple because Hinata got bigger boob. Big boob are popular in japan)

Or just maybe we're looking too deep lol.

Oh, if Sasuke hit her, that would be unacceptable in Japanese culture for what I've read about it. It is not meant to be shown. But trying to kill a person has many symbolic meanings, because death in Japan is a very big cultural notion. Don't forget what Sasuke tried to do to Naruto, it was his path of pure destruction that can be romanticized by Japanese.

Well, Sasuke did hit Sakura at part 1, when he's about to leave konoha and he left Sakura on the bench. He actually knocked her, or was that scene not classified as a 'hit' in Japanese culture?

I think Sasuke tried to kill anybody who was on his way, including Naruto and Sakura. Well if it means that his action can be romanticized, he could also have romantic feeling for Naruto?

I'm sorry I don't know much.

I really don't have the energy to care about this movie at all. It's essentially a shoehorned in naruhina fanfiction with convenient "hidden" memories that happily sidelines Sakura.

Kishimoto's throwing all the narusaku development out the window; the fact that Sakura had a wakeup call in regards to Sasuke not being a good guy thanks to love-letter nin means nothing, Naruto's POAL means nothing, the manga doesn't even give them the dignity to have some sort of closure on their relationship. It's all about how beautiful Hinata is.

True.

I don't believe in Kishimoto anymore, but I am here, because I won't be able to live peacefully knowing there is still info out there about how far they went to destroy us, how much it took from them and how believable they managed to keep us dead. This info comes from the movie. And I won't be able to do any damage control until it is all over.
