The more I think about it...the more this movie doesn't, in fact, have to be canon. In the shortest way possible, here's why: Nothing in this movie gets mentioned in the epilogue, aka chapter 700, and it's actually destroying official canon from the manga. This movie is more just an interpretation on how the ending could have came to be, not what could have actually happened. If you think this could be a double edged sword because NH could say Naruto officially started loving Hinata in 615, they'd still be wrong based off the official databook that confirms Naruto still loved Sakura

I am sure that Sakura and Naruto will interact as friends like nothing ever existed between them. I am sure their bond will be portrayed as a very deep friendship which will cover a big portion of development in manga and label it "comradeship" so that we don't riot. Just like that Naruto will seem consistent in his will to protect Sakura and fulfill her wishes.
That is one of the reasons I will watch the movie. To see at least that, because in the manga was took away too.

Eh... it's still a canon thing it's bad or not - who knows. Hypocrisy - is not only a tool of NH...

Except it isn't... canon only counts for things in the manga. Just because Naruto's kids appear in this movie doesn't mean it makes it canon, otherwise Naruto appearing in every movie makes them all canon. Nothing in this movie gets mentioned in the ending and events that never occurred in the manga are somehow happening here, thus it's more of a "how it could have happened". Kishi playing a role in it's creation also means nothing because then Road To Ninja was canon as well.

This is a big problem. We are all hoping in some way that Kishi realises his mistake and apologises (maybe even gives a go ahead to an alternative ending in the anime or some parallel work). But since NS fandom lost, it naturally bears bad feelings and shows them, making NS look bad. Thus giving Kishi an impression that he was right to "award" other fandoms.

RtN is partly canon, you know... lol
What if, just WHAT IF it turns out in our favor, what then?
By that logic - 700 is not canon itself, just to OOC

The more pressure you guys put on that assistant, the more he's going to lash out and talk down to NaruSaku. I'd stop while I was ahead tbh.

You really need to stop saying this when you have no proof anyone from this forum has directly contacted the assistant through twitter. We are not responsible for any fans in Japan who are doing it as well.

Yes and I am telling you the way they searched is flawed and wrong.
Easily. Twitter, 2ch, google/yahoo japan, pixiv. Just search Japanese names for SS NH and NS.
SS is the most popular and always has been... ive seen this since 2006-2007 when I joined the Naruto fandom. I used to do searches and posted them on Naruto forums. long ago..

I was a pretty big NH fan back then but I still liked NS.
I'm pretty experienced when it comes to popularity in japan. (and yes yaoi is more popular)
dude, they don't use shipping names in japan, its a western thing, therefore it doesn't matter if its the shipping names in japanese, its still not accurate....

Are you not reading what I'm saying? A movie is never canon to a story unless it's connected... we have no connection to the manga other then breaking it at this point.

"No proof" yet I see a lot of members bashing him and agreeing that arguing with him is acceptable. Whether anyone on this forum sent him messages is irrelevant-- most should agree that whoever is sending these is crossing the line, yet I'm seeing a lot of head nods at the treatment the assistant is getting.

RtN has it's chapter. And The Last - about "blank" perioud. Or you just ok with that 700 and it's end? Then - nevermind.

Are there seriously people here bothering the assistant?
I have no clue. The majority of people who send him messages through twitter are NH/SS fans thanking him and Kishi for making them canon. If anything Naruto fans in general are "bothering" him asking questions he should not know because he's not Kishi. I think it's a waste of time to even focus on this assistant.

Well, unfortunately I only see cultural differences. I don't know why SS is popular in the west, but I sure am not surprised that SS is the biggest ship in Japan. I've seen way too many shojo mangas that portrayed abusive horrible relationships as something beautiful. Choosing the one male who is dark and troubled (and doesn't show his feelings at all) despite all the pain he puts you through is considered so poetic. Love that is honed by suffering is the strongest love they say
(If Sakura could be even more abusive to Naruto, they could have had an upper-hand over SS).
But what can you expect from the culture with busido and seppuku traditions (where suffering and self-harm were considered honorable and lyrcal for centuries).
That is why I just don't believe there is a possibility for our arguments to reach Japanese creators (Kishi, SP, assistants, etc). They actually see what they see, they don't feel there are any contradictions and asspulls. They just decided to canonize one solid pairing over the other. SS doesn't have any dark undertones from their perspective and that perspective is honest. Nothing we say can change that perspective, because in their culture hurt and suffering are still a noble thing. We need to accept that we are reading a Japanese manga, so SS is not horrible, is not illogical, is not immoral. At least as long as we stay on the ground of deducing author's intentions.
No better than who?
Guys, stop bullying me right now, I was just trying to underline possible cultural differences - something that has to be done now and then just for reality check. There has to be a better reason for SS to be the biggest kittening fandom in Japan other than people being stupid\immoral or Sasuke looking japanese\being hot.I do think that certain aspects of SS relationship are percieved differnetly by japanese fans. That is why I tried to warn us that some arguments might not work with them. They won't see the ammount of abuse we see.
It doesn't change that I don't accept this ending either. I think that NS objectively makes more sense and that Kishi must have sold out. I also don't have any explanation why western fandom accepts SS.Geez.
I noticed that you and tricksie are discussing about culture difference and that might relate to why sakura was handled as a housewife and loyal lover to the abuser.
I found an interesting topic about that on tv tropes. Not to long ago i saw a movie called the wolf children and it had a female lead that went from a strong energetic girl to a weak submissive girl. I even saw a video were the director claimed that the girl turning more submissive is a sign of maturing which is something i found shocking. That was until i did a research of that movie myself on tv tropes. While researching i ran into the ymmv section theres a trope called "vaules dissounce". In that section i found interesting examples of how female characters are handle due to cultural reasons.

Whats your opinions on this? I would not mind a topic for it to.

Really what does it matter? People are constantly being bothered on social media. No matter what you do someone will talk kitten about you. If tables were turned the others fandoms would be the ones bothering him. I don't agree with the assistant being bashed, but I don't care, because it's the way the world works. Nothing can stop the kitten talking that happens

I just have to post this one tumblr post. Sooo true: 15 manga interactions + 110 min (including fanfic childhood memory)= cannon
Before the reveal of The Last Naruto movie and the end of the manga: “The manga has been developing NaruHina since the start.”
After the Reveal of the Last Naruto movie and the end of the manga: “You should consider the movie explaining how Naruto fell in love with Hinata. Chapter 700 takes place in about 10 years into the future. A lot can happen in 10 years. Even in 2 years.”
Way to contradict yourselves.
