made sense to me.

BTW C. Im curious whats your take on O'donnels little dabble in witchcraft.

As someone who knows several practicing Wiccans I was insulted and I dont even practice wicca. Was having a hard time deciding what was insulted more by her comments, my intelligence or my religious tolerance.

Ehh, I've heard that kind of stuff for years. Not actual witches/wiccans, (There's no connection to Satanism in reality- we don't believe in the Christian devil, and serious wiccans believe in a moral code called the Wiccan rede.) it was clearly the typical thing- a few teenagers from far right wing christian backgrounds being "rebellious" who watched "Children of the Corn" etc... a few too many times wink.gif I just rolled my eyes. That kind of stupidity was going on a lot when my cultural generation (born 1962-7) and the directly following one (1968-1975) were teenagers- O'Donnell was born in 1969.

Then there were the much larger percentage of young people like me who approached the spirituality on a deeply personal and private way- the number Solitary Wiccan practitioners skyrocketed amongst those two cultural generations- especially amongst mine- strongly influenced by the Women's Spirituality movement that became widespread amongst the older Baby Boomers in the late 1970's. I've been a Wiccan since I was 19, but I was doing religious soul searching from the time I was 13.

Yeah I can remember. I grew up in the whole D&D and rolePlaying games are of the devil movement etc etc. I recall some trully absurd public announcments from so called televagelists and concservative politicans who were desperately trying to save all our souls from the devil and his evil Role Playing Games.

Heck I remember the flyer some one posted here earlier that was about that type of thing. While not a practicing wiccan the wiccan spiritual beliefs run pretty close to my own in an almost brother/sisterly type of symbolism. That combined with my general tolerance just irked me to hear someone spewing the same ignorant garbage that she did.

I never said that. No I was in agreement with you. Sorry. I was just saying when you were asking that people thought that the NY Times is Republican that my initial response was YIKES! I was adding to your statement. In reference to you it was a general not you personally.

Jesus, I knew you weren't beforehand! wot.gif WHY DON'T PEOPLE(INCLUDING ME) REMEMBER PREVIOUS THREAD CONVERSATIONS THEY HAD? I mean you don't need to forget it, it's right in front of you.

Obama's support base crumbling:

I never understood why people voted for this community-leader-no-experience man in the first place. Were people so 'dazzled' by his so-called 'rockstar' persona they just put aside all good reason and common sense.

Gonna be hillarious to see the reactions of everyone that votes against him this fall, when the republicans not only do more of the nothing they've been doing for the last two years, but they grind it to a screeching halt with worthless subpeoneas and investigations into everything from the presidents eating habits, to whether he pees standing up or not.

Exactly, that's why i am going 3rd party. This country has a gang mentality man. Conservatives are fools, Liberals are fools. Anyone that makes up his or her mind before hitting an issue, is a fool.

As far as i see the real change will come in the November elections of 2012. Im going to root for the Libertarian and Constitution party to take the entire Republican senate, and for the Green Party with the Libertarian party to take the entire Democrat senate. This way we will have not a single majority party. But 3 groups that will be forced to work together to solve problems.

Yeah i know, it won't happen.

Or my hero Ron Paul gets elected. If he runs for president biggrin.gif

Oh i know, the religious right is too dull to vote for a guy who says we should end the drug war, allow gays to be married, and to stop scapegoating Muslims as terrorists. That our dislike of immigration is the direct result of the welfare state, and if we had a healthy economy the nation would be welcoming immigrants to do the labor.

But oh well, is going to be either Palin, Romney, or Huck [yuck] who will face Obama in 2012, and of course they will get crushed because the country has rejected they're ideals.

Good Lord..... is THIS what America has degenerated to?

Now they're complaining that Muslim groups doesn't have the right to make halal certificates on their foods. Regardless of whether they're tied terrorists or not, they still have the right to help their fellow Muslims follow their faith. But NOOOO.... they say they don't have that right to help them just because they're suspected as terrorists.
