Just finished Benikuza arc 

   

That was first serious arc, did you like it?

Tbh, I don't know what you're saying. I'm trying to remember if Gorilla Sorachi in the beginning of the arc said that but I don't think it's that.

The arc is about the swordsmith sibling, the older borther is making a mechanical sword.

In its last episode, there's a flashback with young gin, zura, and takasugi. I didn't see my guy sakamochi?

 

Actually, I'm a little disappointed since kagura vs matako and pervert guy (which I don't recall his name vs shinpachi weren't made to be longer. Because it's about Zura and Gintoki and Nizo, so..

Knowing where you're at, just keep watching opening. I believe everyone here knows why.

Only opening and ending I will never skipped are opening 13 and ending 17, both by SPYAIR. I love them to death! Although pretty much all the openings and ending songs are awesome. It's just that the animation gets repetitive very often. They could try to make it more unique.

Basically, it's the first full fledged serious arc. When I said that, it's more of a joke that I usually say when a writer does nothing but comedy and then when doing serious, it's like the editor drops his cig and just praise him/her to no end. In short, I didn't expect him to write it so well. The other series wouldn't have the right balance, like one would think the series shouldn't have this or that, hence how some editors would actually tell them to do it battle over comedy. This one does it right.

I always check the comments on kissanime after I've the episode to make sure I don't miss little trivias (b/c kissanime is down right now, I'm usually skimming through the endings and openings quickly. Jackport on episode 220 with naked Kondo and Amanto XD).

The best one has yet to be the moment where they messed up towards the end and crashed into each other although they've done it 23 times already

Ah I see. See, I isolated myself from the universe, hence this thread as well (though since I'm getting close, I will join in more and more), so I won't mess with the punchline and jokes. When you least expected, it kills you and it doesn't have to be life taking. Though truth to be told, there are jokes that you want to go back and understand it. The one part that got me rolling was Hijikata's VA parody. I have to thank my girlfriend for that though. When I realized the purpose, I lost it.

Couldn't agree more. So far I'm watching Gintama, the comedy and serious eps are balance.

 

Anyway, what about it's distance between the arc and not-arc episode? In the first 50 eps, Umibozu arc is near the and. Although I am really into after the eps when Gin lost his memory, I was a little bored with comedy and comedy, which I think it's a little longer, so Umibozu arc feels like coming a little late. But this Benikuza, it's early in season 2. How many arc in this season 2? Will there be lots comedy eps?

The thing about early episodes of Gintama, it's a lot of introduction of the universe. Like this character and that character and so on. What I realized from this series is that when it wants to tackle this character's trait and that in the later event. The sweet spot about comedy episodes at times is that you actually get more out of the character, so it feels like I gain something while I laugh at it. Not to mention, those moments at times can be ongoing. Like how one character's joke about this new thing that I won't say, only to come up in a serious arc no less.

Here's my brief history with the series. I thought it would be like one of those series that just over the top that can be funny at times, but really have no balance. Think as Family Guy and South Park differences. Family Guy has no remorse, so many of them come off offensive. South Park does go extreme, but it has the purpose to balance it out, thus making a genius writing. Gintama is the latter. That's how I see it.

Sadly no. She keeps thinking about it and I keep saying, "This show literally made for you. Please!" It's not out of option but she does like 2015 first opening song. But I have to tell her that joke from Hijikata. That was just gold.

Yeah...don't remind me. I have to applaud to Sunrise to make me remember why at times I prefer anime over manga. Manga will win in art for many series, but anime, when done right, the presentation is what sold me.

If I count in also the episodes from the new season, I've watched about ~245 of Gintama. I've come a long way, lol. I normally never would dedicate myself to so many episodes for an anime. My limit is somewhere below 100 episodes. But HxH and Gintama I guess are exceptions to this.

I like watching anime too than reading manga. It's annoying to wait every chapter or volume
About the prev what you've said about opening/ending that is done by sunrise, I only know some anime and today I keep thinking about the style. I think I start to get what you mean although I still can't really catch the point.

Do you think Ishida will work with another animation studio?
