Not so much symbolism as "leave no doubt as to what we mean by their names."
It's a bolt. In a nut and bolt pair, the nut is the smaller piece that holds the bolt in place.

just curious... how many whiskers do bolt and himawari have on each side of their cheek? Naruto has three on each side.

they both have two on each side.
edit: ginkaku and kinkaku both have three on each side just like naruto. something isn't adding up here if we're to believe that kurama's chakra influenced them.

naruto was inside the womb of a jinchuuriki, which caused him to have 3 whisker marks. ginkaku and kinkaku got swallowed up by kurama and ate some of its flesh, which caused them to have 3 whisker marks. whatever happened to bolt and himawari probably didn't have that much of an impact like naruto and the gold and silver brothers if we're going to base it on the amount of whisker marks they have on their cheeks.

lol, maybe kurama has been sleeping all this time that caused it. Or naruto's sperms are just not as effective as that of a wombnaruto was inside the womb of a jinchuuriki, which caused him to have 3 whisker marks. ginkaku and kinkaku got swallowed up by kurama and ate some of its flesh, which caused them to have 3 whisker marks. whatever happened to bolt and himawari probably didn't have that much of an impact like naruto and the gold and silver brothers if we're going to base it on the amount of whisker marks they have on their cheeks.
