Edward Norton supposedly has something of an ego that makes him quite difficult to work with. Some of the people who worked on the last Hulk film just cold did not get along with the man at all and I suspect that's largely why it's taken this long for them to figure out what they want to do as far as he goes. I can understand the trepidation, despite how classless the remarks were; the Avengers film already has enough big stars in it without throwing a decent sized ego who is known to chafe with those he works with into the mix.

Where they're going to go with it now is anyone's guess; either they hire someone who looks like Norton for a couple appearances by Banner or just straight up keep the Banner half out of the film.

I don't understand why Norton have such an ego, I mean, he is not that famous/popular to being with. hm.png

It's the diva-qualities some actors get when they are considered good actors. It has less to do with popularity.

As far as who Marvel is looking to for BB, Mark Ruffalo is rumored to be in late discussions to portray him. I'll link the source later. Or you can go read it at superherohype. He can be a good actor. Curious choice.

GL isn't my favorite hero, I like him and his various lanterness. I like that the energy is present in every muscle fiber, good thing it's just the top half they're showing. tongue.gif

At San Diego Comic Con, Joss Whedon made it official.

He's directing the Avengers movie.

http://www.newsarama...ers-100722.html

I'm not sure how to feel about this. A lot of people practically worship Whedon, but he's not infalliable. This could easily go horribly wrong, especially when you consider that this is the first time Joss Whedon's played on a stage this big.

More concept art!

Thor, this one's pretty epic I think.

Captain American, and this one's pretty neat too.

As far as Joss Whedon goes, I've liked some of his stuff okay, especially Firefly a lot! But I also have the same reservations for the same reasons. He's never done anything this scale. And he's got a quality to a lot of his work where the humor would just be wrong for the Avengers.

Yeah, Whedon's got his quirks that would be pretty bad in an Avengers movie. He's not writing the script though, so there's that, at least. Still, I am concerned; there's no telling how he will do at this level. I understand the reasons for this - Joss Whedon has a lot of geek cred and the man is a comic fan - but I personally wish that if they insisted on this, they'd given him one of the films before it to direct and based their decision on that. This is quite a gamble, especially on a film Marvel's been building a film universe towards.

I'm not sure how I feel about the Ed Norton situation anymore. Sometimes I'm all "grr". Others I'm kind of "well I can see why even though those were prick comments". As long as they have enough of a way around it and things work out alright I think I'll be fine with things.

Looks like the Captain won't be getting along with Iron Man to well in the movie. I guess it has something to do with leadership issues or Tony Stark not being a soldier in the eyes of CA.

I just hope we won't here to much "back in the old days" talk from the Captain.

Civil War was a steaming pile of ass; of course they're not going to say that though.

Oddly enough, there are people who liked it; why they did I really haven't the foggiest.

The cast of the avengers show up at comic con!

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Right after the Thor panel (coverage coming very soon) Kevin Feige, Marvel movies head honcho, asked us if we wouldn't mind staying a bit later, that he had something he wanted to run by us. Lights go down and another video plays? it's Sam Jackson's voice narrating over a slowly illuminating symbol. Essentially he's saying there will come a day when Earth's mightiest heroes will be needed. On that day, we will meet? The Avengers. Samuel L. Jackson is introduced and takes the stage!

Introduces right hand man, Agent Coulson (aka Clark Gregg). My right hand woman? You know her as Black Widow? Scarlet Johansson! The God of Thunder Chris Hemsworth! The first Avenger, Captain America? Chris Evans!? Tons of cheers. Then,You know him as Tony Stark? Robert Downey Jr.!? and the roof was blown off the place.

Downey takes the mic. Don't anybody stab anybody anywhere until I'm done talkin!

Referring to a stabbing incident in the hall earlier in the day. Vintage Downey. No kitten. Someone got stabbed.

"I come before you a very humble man, strangely, this evening, to be in this most excellent company. I don't mean to mention other movies, but did anybody see Inception? I think that was probably just about the most ambitious movie I've ever seen. Then I thought, Wait a goddamn second! Marvel Studios is going to take all of their top superheroes and they're going to put them all together in The Avengers? That's the most ambitious movie I've ever seen!?"

Then Downey announced the official casting of both Clint Barton/Hawkeye and Bruce Banner/Hulk. Jeremy Renner, playing Hawkeye, and Mark Ruffalo, playing Bruce Banner, took the stage along with Joss Whedon. And then the Avengers were assembled (click the first, longer pic for a bigger version):The place went ballistic. Highlight of the Con, without a doubt.More in-depth coverage of the Thor Panel, the Cap panel and some catch-up articles coming from me in the near future! Stay tuned!

Awesomeness!!! I wish I was there. Next year. I think Thor will be revealing, but Captain should already be in theaters, but the third Batman should have something fun to show too.

Yes, and according to IMDb, Hugo Weaving is filling in the role. I instantly just got excited about that film. Weaving has been a favorite actor of mine for a few years now. After he completely owned the role of "V" from "V from Vendetta."
