Good point -- I forgot about that water manipulation thing. (but since when do you need to show control over your primary element power to become a chuunin? I don't remember that being mentioned during, say, the Chunin exam, when it should have come up first) Sakura still strikes me as more of an Earth element user, however... which is probably why I was thinking Yamato-esque, since I believe it was mentioned somewhere that the combination of Earth and Water was what allowed Yamato and the hokage he was cloned from able to use wood element techniques.

It doesn't seem to be an absolute requirement for passing the Chunin exams, but it's appears to be expected some time soon after becoming a Chunin- remember what Kakashi said to Naruto during his element training. (and note Kishimoto placed that arc after Sakura manipulated water with her chakra.) It's the only true element manipulation we've seen her do. So she's definitely water as her primary element. Which would explain why she can't combat Sasuke's Chidori- Lightning--> Water, but Water--> Fire. (Sasuke's other element) Naruto could potentially combat Chidori as Wind --> Lightning but not his Fire because Fire --> Wind.

Water fits Sakura well as her primary element too (her fighting style- shown in her fight with Sasori- is a water style actually- evasive and adaptive), just like wind does Naruto (his fighting style in part 2, especially now with the sage training is wind style- surrounding and stopping the fight). And actually Lightning/Fire for Sasuke too (Fire is taking the fight to the enemy and Lightning is fighting without emotional considerations). Tsunade's fits earth style- she doesn't really do the evasive/adaptive style she taught Sakura, and Sakura does better fighting when she does the evasive/adaptive style rather than Tsunade's earth style straight on crushing them to the ground)

I've learned a lot from the conversation we had over Sakura. Her primary affinity being water (adaptive/evasive maneuvers) and also being a Genjutsu type would defiantly help her surpass Tsunade. sakura.gif

I think what will help her push her needed training is if she sees Naruto getting severely injured by Sasuke's Genjutsu possibly put in a comma. It would change Sakura's feelings for Sasuke and she would be willing to learn Genjutsu herself and hopefully more Water affinity training as well. Maybe a little Sluggin with Tsunade to finish her sage training. The same would also imply to Naruto in learning to block/counter Genjutsu and leading him to discover other jutsu like somehow/hopefully learning his father's Hirashin No Jutsu/the other half of the Kyuubi in the scroll. facepalm.png

They would lose the fight but gain something more valuable and necessary for future battles. sleep.gif

The only issue I really see with the scenario you described would be I don't really see there being more than one final confrontation with Sasuke. I feel that Naruto is ready to face Sasuke now for real - he has a new mentality, a much better understanding of where Sasuke's coming from, a newly reinforced seal on Kyuubi, and sage mode. I doubt Sasuke's expecting much of a challenge from Naruto, because all he has to go on is his encounters with Naruto at Oro's hide out.

Sakura, however, would benefit from some form of additional training. Not that she's weak, but compared to Sasuke and Naruto, she's just not up to their level at this point. Kishi also talked about developing Sakura further (I can't recall if he said there was going to be an entire arc for her or not), but I don't see how she would get the time to train at this point. Maybe some training from the Cloud nin??? Or who knows, maybe Kabutomaru will stall Sasuke - he was Kabutomaru's target after all.

However, if Sakura's element is water, then she and Naruto would make a good combination to combat Sasuke's ninjutsu. The only thing that will challenge them is Saskue's MS. However, I'm guessing this is where Itachi's gift will come into play. Though how this will benefit Sakura any I don't know. Maybe she'll grow during the fight with Sasuke?

Eh, no. Ninjas are tough, they get stabbed, punched, kicked and get right up. Sakura was shocked to be kicked there, but you could tell she was ready to fight some more.

Besides Pain must have stabbed Hinata through her womb- since he missed vital organs, plus from what Kabuto said it sounds like Hinata has some sort of heart defect. It's Hinata that most likely won't be having any kids with anyone.

Sakura's sturdy and a medic nin to boot, she and Naruto can have 3-4 kids no problem.

Medic nins in Narutoverse are capable to perform successfull operations in awful, non-sanitary enviromental conditions. We've seen Sakura healing herself, and Tsunade regenerating all her wounds.

So I doubt you must worry about that.

Not matter what, I shall never succumb to the dark side of NaruHina.

NaruIno is a way more attractive dark side.

You know, after re-reading a bit of the arc, I came across where Suigetsu says his sword was left behind. Now I always thought the idea of Naruto wielding Zabuza's sword pretty awesome. If my perdiction of Naruto getting atleast one more training session before his big fight with Sasuke, it is very likely he could go to Killer Bee's village for whatever reason.

Naruto has his wind type chakra that would be great with a weapon, and he needs something to counter Sasuke's Chiodri sword. Maybe his sword being forgotten was just a part of a genious plan by Kishi!

Yeah I know a long shot.....but I can hope right? biggrin.gif

Xabsol you double-posted....
Anyways, it would be nice for Naruto to gain a weapon of some sort, as I recall, Wind Chakra manipulation also revolves around extending a blade's reach and refining the chakra to a point where it can penetrate hard substances such as a tree trunk and rock, shown in Asuma's demonstration. But, it could be a possible epilogue thing where, despite not being Hokage, Naruto's a super-special-awesome ANBU with an awesome ninja sword powered by Wind. Though this fan hopes to see an epic Anakin vs. Obi-Wan like fight scene between the Naruto and Sasuke wow.png

Though, I don't think Tsunade was ever referred to as a Slug Sage, only as the Slug Princess.

Actually, I'm hoping Sakura's element is water. With Naruto's being wind, they'll make plenty of clouds and rain....

(okay, bad naughty joke, there; for those that don't get the reference, it's a common euphemism for sex (or some aspects of sex, depending on certain things) throughout Asia, with seperate origins attributed to Chinese, Korean, and Japanese cultures; one of the three probably came up with it, first, but as much propaganda as the trio spew about what iconic cultural references\foodstuffs\technology\etc. each brought to the world, it's likely impossible to ever figure out which was really the first to come up with something like this)

Seriously, I don't think it'll be water for Naruto. It doesn't feel like he's shown any aptitude, there... though niether has Sakura -- the only one in Konoha who has obvious water aptitute that I've seen is Kakashi. I'm thinking Earth for both of them, and -- while I can't remember exactly what made me think this -- I was wondering if Sakura might have some of the same wood attribute that Yamato has)

As far as I understood elemental affinities, most shinobi only have an affinity for one element... since a kekkei genkai is the ability to combine two to make a new element, I thought that would mean those with a bloodline would be the only ones naturally inclined to two, like Yamato/Tenzou's earth and water. Kakashi demonstrates that his affinity is lightning (the fact that he is not naturally alligned to fire is probably why his implanted sharingan has not developed in the normal way?), and went on to explain that jounin's could usually use two. Since Naruto has already developed his natural affinity, doesn't that mean he could choose whatever the hell he likes when it comes to developing a second element? If that was the case it would make sense for him to choose water to counter Sasuke, but who knows...

When it comes to Sakura's affinity, I really don't know. There was no mention, when Naruto underwent his elemental training, that she had already done something similar - and Shikamaru seemed mildly impressed that he was doing it - so I'm not convinced as to whether she has developed hers or not. Sasuke went through it as a genin, but it took him almost a month, and he was called a genius... so if she hasn't yet, she probably isn't going to until she has a good bit of time. Still, she's had a few years, so I wouldn't be surprised if Kishi just hadn't bothered to mention it... There was that instance with the liquid she used for healing, but I think most medical ninjutsu is related to light and dark manipulation (?), I'm not sure whether Kishi intended it to be seen as water manipulation, though it could be. Also, Tsunade may actually have a lightning affinity - I remember in her fight with Kabuto (long long ago) she used an electric surge to scramble his nervous system, or something...

In short... I really don't know anything until Kishi says it outright sweatdrop.gif

PS. Naruto with a wind-channeling sword would be awesome (SHUT UP SAI)

Naruto really doesn't need a sword since he could form wind chakra around his hand and was able to cut objects at long distances during his affinity training. (Reminds me of Kuriya the bount leader in bleach.)

It still bothers me that he still requires clones to make a Rasengan. I had always thought of that as a stepping stone for him to learn the manipulation. It's great that he's able to put those clones to good use, but too many of his moves rely on it. Sage Mode benefits a lot from it also. I think he needs some techniques that do not require much prep work. Weapons training with or without the wind manipulation would be a nice addition.

RE: Power/strength levels... I think Sakura is strong and excellent at what she does but she's still badly mismatched against many others. She isn't a long range fighter by any means and her ninjutsu abilities are non-existent. So I'm leaving her where I had her, ranked below Temari and Karin, in a tie with Hinata and Ino.

Things this chapter did that were of real importance to me:

-Danzo isn't officially confirmed YET but likely will be. There's no credible alternative at this point (hence people questioning Kakashi saying he's a bit young, etc...).
-Sai and his likelihood of dying just increased dramatically. Not only was he shown to be somewhat weaker then his teammates but he's also got Danzo's deathtrap in a vital place and if the hints in this chapter were any indication will probably be the one that provides the crucial bit of information about Danzo and ROOT to someone, possibly not a friendly force.
-Danzo knows that Naruto isn't on his side but he's still got cards he can play to force Naruto to cooperate, namely Sasuke's life (rescinding the termination order), barring the Kumo Nins from attacking AND he likely knows Naruto's parentage, information that I strongly suspect will be come public at the Kage Summit.

Things I'm looking forward to:
-The Sand Siblings AND Team Gai (They were part of the rescue effort so I expect to see them as part of the arc).
-Kakashi take the spotlight not Sakura as of this moment he's the most credible alternative to Danzo as Hokage.
-More background about Shizune and her relationship with Tsunade and Sakura. Especially since she and Sakura are caring for their teacher.

I think Naruto could be just as in line for hokage as Kakashi, come on hokage isn't what Kakashi is all about...would totally ruin his character for me. Plus....Naruto the 8th hokage!!! Nah, sounds bland. Considering there was only 4 hokages when he first said he wanted to be the next one. Kinda dampers the title if you ask me.

I agree, that Naruto is and can be just as good as Kakashi as a Hokage, but I also think that Naruto will be the Ninth Hokage, kind of like him being the Nine tailed beset demon container.
