well...im a sucker for meloncholy fics, well they just seem a bit more real then the "woop-dee-do, lets get married, and then have wild smex.." fics (not that i dont like them...), its just that meloncholy stories seem more realistic... so if anyone has links can u please tell me?? well i would prefer narusaku, but anythings good except sasusaku.....

I was also happy to find that being the Hidan fan I am (that latest religious fanatic immortal cannot-die-even-when-his-head-is-lopped-off Akatsuki member), the author also has written some good Hidan-centric one shots. He has a way of writing that captures his character so well. If you're interested, I suggest you read Tin God and Callow Lamb. They are both quite well written.

And for crack's sake, try Spectrum by Sayaka-sama. A Hidan x Sakura x Sasuke one-shot. I know, wtf, right? But hey, gotta love some crack sometimes. XD

On topic, a few more I can recommend:

Springfire by sodeno shiroyuki

...It's a SasuSaku. *gets pelted by tomatoes* But really, even if you're against the pairing, do give it a try! There are a lot of cliche elements in the story (such as Sakura joining the Akatsuki), but at the very least it's a very realistic approach to the pairing and doesn't have Sakura go heads over heels over Sasuke in a manner of 30 seconds! I read it for the plot and the length, and boy do I ever love the story for it. It's one of the better fics out there that sadly doesn't get the recognization it deserves (not much reviews).


Captain Neji and the Hidden Straits of Death by wildcatt

Not much to say about this other than the fact that it's sort of like Pirates of the Carribian/Naruto crossover - only it isn't. The setting of this AU story is similar, but the author creates a totally original story out of it. Invovles all characters. Has 'chiche' pairings (ie, SasuSaku, NaruHina, NejiTen etc), but as long as you're willing to overlok that tiny fact this fic is something that's quite enjoyable to read.

I love the author for his/her Hellsing fic named Darkness and Light and I was pleased to find out that the author has branched into the Naruto fandom as well. The story revolves around Shino, an OC Inuzuka clan member (Kiba's younger sister), Naruto, and Hinata. The story of their ANBU team, told from different perspectives. Yet another fic that doesn't get the recognization it deserves, this one especially more so.

Again an excellent recommendation Nes Mikel... I really enjoy Clans. I'm ashamed to admit I'd've missed this like many others (probably because you can't find it through pairing filters), and it seems like it deserves to be much longer than what the author has planned out...

Speaking of crack... Drabble Funk The last chapter's about Hidan and the Akatsuki. Also, I like almost everything on Soul of the Silver Phoenix's favorites list, and dave-dwrites really well, despite being strictly naruhina.
Heres a super- Naruto with implied naruino in the last chapter. So sue me. I like believable or tastefully written things, and the only pairings I don't like are Sasuke-fan girl/former fan girl, namely Sakura or Ino.
