Still alive, huh. The guy is going to die when I'm done with him. If he returns, the art better be OPM tier. No exception!
Lol, sorry, bro XD I'm just disappointed as you. I check the subreddit for HunterxHunter a lot, looking for the newest updates on the manga (and sings of Togashi that indicate that he's still alive).
You think it'll return this year? Normally, he published something every year. And the build-up for the Dark Continent Arc is so intense that it's killing me the insideNext time Togashi comes back, he'll release like another ten chapters and end it just when they've all just reached the DC -.- I can already see it happening.

Actually... I like his art now. Most of the times, it's horrible and insulting to a reader, but I've changed my mind a bit ever since I've reached the Chimera Ant Arc in the manga. His drawings are still mediocre at best, but he makes it up for me in terms of expression and overall impact. Certain panels are very powerful and thought-provoking. And plus, I like the closeups of the faces he does sometimes.
But yeah, he really lacks with consistency and determination when it comes to drawing -.-

I know. Still, like DGM return, it should be improved. The guy has no real excuse to this. The man is playing Dragon Quest. Though I don't know that's true but it's a running joke or perhaps it is true. Still, he better come back strong.
Honestly... I gave up hoping for a better artstyle. I haven't read Yu Yu Hakusho, but I heard the artstyle was a lot better in there. Fact is: The dude can draw better, but he just doesn't wanna -.- So much to dedication, lol. If it's consistent as in the latest ten chapters, I'm fine with it though. That's prob the best artstyle HunterxHunter had in a long time.
What I always tell myself is: Once the anime comes back in 20??, no one will care about the artstyle in the manga anymore.

At least he makes it easy to say anime>manga. But yeah, I wouldn't mind the last few chapters quality. It's just that maybe he should just do story and all while someone else does the drawing. Lately, that combo has been nothing but greatness.Honestly... I gave up hoping for a better artstyle. I haven't read Yu Yu Hakusho, but I heard the artstyle was a lot better in there. That's what everyone is saying! Why not just hire a drawer if he complains about backpain so much. But he doesn't want to share his treasure with anyone else, which is understandable, but still :/ Some say that it'd be better if he'd just made HxH monthly, but nah, ain't gonna happen. And I'm not sure if that worked out...
A mangaka pairing up with a writer is always interesting. Great illustration with an actual good plotline! Lots of mangas actually have that combo nowdays.
Togashi better has done some thorough research and crafting over the time he was gone. I have high expectations from the next arc.

But yeah, I understands the guy has a lot of pride, but this is getting people's nerves, up to the point they just say, "Want to read a completed series HxH?" Why not let your wife do it. Yeah, I said it. It may be old school and shoujo like but I want the continuation now.
Ok, maybe not, get someone and drop your pride for a moment.

For Bakuman: Should I watch the anime or read the manga?
And HunterxHunter is pretty famous in Japan, too. One volume easily sells a million copies, about as much Naruto sells (or used to).
I just wished that the 2011 anime got dubbed, but for some reason, it's not...

They're both good but if you're not in the mood for crapload of texts, then watch it. It's faithful to the manga, though they did change one thing because anime believes in good nature. Once again, DN team work got changed in order to tone down the dark nature. Shame.
It is popular, but dammit, don't piss them off. They are hardcore about it.

Why? Wall of text? Lol. The dark nature? Well, it's only to one character but he did deserve it. Still, anime probably thought it's pretty messed up. It's like Death Note. Have you watch and read it? One is moral lesson and the other one is kitten you, you deserve the worst.

That dark nature part, and you know, just b/c I hate it if the anime leaves out stuff from the original.
I'm that type of person that still treats the source original as the more important one.

Ah I see. I mean I think the ending still ended normal (I should double check) but they did skip an arc, because again, dark nature. I mean I guess you can say both version ended "well" but I don't remember the manga that much. I just remember for the most part it was similar. But you know, like Gintama, the anime has the advantage of showcasing the action of what manga wanted to do, such as its own opening based on their work, which is pretty cool, a small episode of it, and so on. That's what made it appealing. That dark nature part, and you know, just b/c I hate it if the anime leaves out stuff from the original.

If the anime sticks to the manga, then I'm not gonna read the manga. But if the anime leaves stuff out from the manga, that would have made the anime better, then I will side with the manga.
Of course, action always works better in animation (Attack on Titan), but expression and impact many times, not always, work for me better in manga.
Pls, the Gintama anime is a thing on its own XD That's not even a fair comparison b/c this is all about breaking the forth wall.

It's not the action. It's the use of the content. For an example, in the popularity poll arc, anime took advantage by doing a poor quality opening and Hokuto no Ken opening. So in this case, the anime will use the manga they made and actually animate them like it makes you want to see that one. Well, one of the work came true for an OVA. Lol.

That's only Gintama though. Like I said, Gintama is special. I don't need to read the manga to know that the anime is superior than the manga. I am a bit "unnerved" though that there might be short stories that I've not seen yet b/c Gintama just switches arcs in the anime as it likes. Who knows how I'm even supposed to catch up with the manga once I'm done with the anime? Might
as well start reading from chapter 1 -.-
But normally when it comes to animes... I hate it when the anime leaves things out or alternate things when they really shouldn't have. It makes you feel that your experience with the series is incomplete/distorted (hello Tokyo Ghoul) so that you can't openly discuss your impressions with manga readers. Manga readers will always charge on and say, this was different, and blablabla.
Example: When Ed "confessed" his love towards Winry in the end, Winry reacted totally different in the manga. She was literally frantic and hitting the train out of frustration. She was so much more calm though in the anime. Why change that? Yeah, I'm nitpicking, but that's how I am :(
