Can I ask what you both find compelling about Sarada? I don't disagree that Bolt is boring, but I can't say there's anything remarkable about Sarada. Her narrative, to me, seems so blatantly contrived and a pathetic attempt to create forced drama. Paired with Kishi's tendency to heap greatness upon the Uchiha, I find her every bit as unlikeable as Bolt.
ETA: I read a few posts after yours and I DO get why she might be sympathetic. But I can't get past how forced the plot is.
Hmmm, it's not that I think Sarada is remarkable or that the story is not contrived and forced. It's just that it's moderately more readable than say, watching paint dry. After expecting a story based around Bolt and the lovefest of NH, I am actually surprised to find that it's about Sarada and I can read the next gen manga without hating it as much as I expected I would!
I don't think Sarada as a character is compelling. But her story is more interesting than Bolt's. There is the question of her parenting, if she puts it to Sasuke like she has to Sakura, and if Sasuke can come up with a good excuse about abandoning her. I'm interested to see how that all pans out. And again, I'm surprised that I'm even reading it, so that says something too. Anyway, the most redemeeing thing about Bolt is that so far he hasn't been in the story.
I can tolerate the story since it's from Sarada's pov and is revolving around something other than NH. If it were about Bolt and NH, then hands-down I wouldn't be reading it at all.
It also a curious choice for the part 3 after the bait and switch ending, too. It's like they knew if it was about Bolt/NH then audiences would drop the story. So I wonder if the figured Sarada was the less-offensive choice to center the story around.
Agreed, even if I'm not much of a fan PERIOD of any of this new generation.
