I'm not diminishing Sakura's character, ( since the author already did that) I just think this is kind of a useless achievement made to placate some fans.
It won't change how badly she was portrayed at the last chapter, even more considering this isn't even canon
So I found kind of dumb to make a big deal out of this, specially considering Sakura's novel is going to be extremely "Sasuke-kun angsty kitten" with Sakura questioning "how long should she wait" and being jealous of NH ( if rumors are to be believed)
I mean don't you think if Sasuke suddenly came to Konoha and asked this Sakura to go with him don't you think she would drop everything and go?
This Sakura is just a pairing fodder, I see no reason to care for her
"As we saw in Part I, all soldiers had medical treatment at their disposal."
Not really. That's why Dan was advocating the need for more medic-nin.
The whole Dan thing was during the second ninja war, before part 1
We saw a hospital in part 1, so we can infer the ninjas were treated over there
"so, obviously, there was no need for a “children’s clinic”, since so many of them were children themselves."
What? Sorry but I'm not getting the logic behind this reasoning.
.
Part of the ninjas are children, ninjas are soldiers, the soldiers already went to the already existing hospital and were treated perfectly fine
That's why the logic for this children hospital kind of fails
I mean, Is she focusing on civilian kids? Its not said
but since its mental health then she is probably focusing on shinobi right? But if she is focusing on shinobi why create a whole new hospital, why don't work on the one that was already existing or even expanding it a ehole new ward into it?
This whole "achievement" just tries to sound big when in the truth if you look deeper its all hollow inside
"The scene where Mikoto and her kids go visit Naruto at the hospital’s maternity ward shows that there was pediatric care for babies as well, making the claim that it took Sakura to intervene for Konoha to medically care for its children even emptier - and more ridiculous. "
Like nobody claimed that it took Sakura to make Konoha care for its kids. The claim is that Sakura as an excellent medic-nin is doing something for the kids instead of sitting idly knitting scarves. She's thinking of the kids and is doing something good for Konoha's future. She opened a Children's clinic which specially deals with kid's health. Both physical and mental.
It's just that this whole thing seems kinda empty and that if it was made as a way to just say
"Hey you see she is doing something with her life at least"
But just by reading her novel summary we can see how this whole thing is going to be just a mislead
And as I said before when you analyse deep into this hospital thing, you will see its just a hollow shell
As for mental health, yes, THAT is something absolutely absent from the Narutoverse - and it’s STILL absent in chapter 700
The lack of a special mention does not mean absence. There exist bars, schools, autopsy and post-mortem departments, torture units etc but a mental health care unit is too out of the realm of the OP's imagination. One would think that the need for a mental health care unit would be more pressed upon after the war. And Ino being from the Yamanaka clan is helping Sakura with its establishment makes sense.
I don't agree with you here
Clearly you are just making suppositions
If they had mental health care unit don't you think it would've used something like that in the case of Sasuke after Tsukyiomi?
Hell we cant even say they have schools out of the ninja ones, maybe the people who don't become ninja are home taught for example. You are just supposing a lot of things
Besides its not your imagination that counts, it's what the author portrayed that counts
And he didn't portrayed most of the things you are talking about, its just your headfanons for konoha
- and it’s STILL absent in chapter 700
Firstly the novels aren't canon. They're fan-service. So anything in the novels wouldn't necessarily fit the manga timeline.
Second even if the novels were canon we still wouldn't have gotten anything in chapter 700. 700 is a prologue, its an intro. Apart from Naruto, Shikamaru, Shizune, Konohomaru and his team, Iruka, Kurenai's daughter and Shino nobody is doing anything of substance. That's why part three exists as the real epilogue with answers as to what Sai, Kiba, Sasuke, Temari, Sakura , Chouji are doing.
And thats why 700 is bad, it shouldn't be a set up chapter, it was a bad ending because of that
Regardless I don't want to have anything to do with this sh*tty "part 3", Kishimoto himself chose to portray Sakura in her last image on the manga being a nice housewife cleaning shelves and waiting for her husband who is god knows where to come home, that's how he chose to portray her, completely undermining her goals and her wishes of catching up with her teammates.
Simple as that
but of course they had to give Sakura a useless achievement because she’s a woman -
No achievement is USELESS. I mean isn't that literally an oxymoron? Useless achievement? Hmm..maybe not.
And more importantly opening a facility for kids suits Sakura NOT because she's a women but becauuse the manga portrays her as a person who cares for kids.
Right from the wave arc.
You are saying that as if its one thing thatKishi had planned all along, I believe the writer for the Sakura novel just made this empty, useless achievement to rebuke critics about how Sakura was portrayed at the last chapter
Too bad it isn't canon tho, and even if it was it would just be hollow either way
and female doctors are obviously only interested and capable of becoming OBGYNs and pediatricians, in the mind of misogynists.
This statement effectively erases a majority of Sakura's feats from the manga where she's a medic-nin and heals not just kids but soldiers in wars. She's advertised in the preview of the novel as an 'Excellent medic-NIN and not as an OBGYN." Nobody said that she can only deliver babies or care for pregnant women. Nobody but the OP is denying Sakura's other feats. Ignoring all of her accomplishments in the manga and stating this one as "useless"?
And really calling someone a mysoginist based on one single line?? That's a little too extreme don't you think?
And sorry but what does the OP mean by -only interested and capable of becoming OBGYNs and pediatricians, ???
Becoming OBGYNs and pediatricians are HUGE achievements. These doctors are in no way less "Successful" or "capable". The thought that a doctor that deals with women's or kids issues is in anyway or form less then a doctor that deals with soldiers is far more rooted in misogyny.
Comparing her canon achievements with this filler one? Really?
I didn't agree too much with her words, but she has a point on the OBGYNs + pediatrists being tipically regarded as women profissions. She is just saying that as this was a hollow achieviement, that there was a possibility that the author just used this pre estabilished notion and made it Sakura's supposed profession
With this I agree
