I don't hate the movie myself. It's just that it baffles me how so many people sing praise to it... when it haves no merits. I mean, sure it's fun, it's flashy and it feels sober all at the same time, wich is a difficult combination to achieve. But never the movie makes itself deserving of it. I mean, how would people feel if they finally made a matrix 4 and the movie is great but at the cost of the plot being an obvious carbon copy of the first one? Wouldn't that feel cheap?
Well the thing is that they made the "what's done before isn't a bad thing" work. Honestly, while I understand a lot about the whole similar feeling, that seems like a strong perk to use to go against the fans that loves it. Now granted, fans can overly praised for being the same, but I do believe there are fans, which there are, that generally like the movie because of actual reasons.
My brother really likes the movie and not once he reflects the idea of being "nostalgia," outside the fans reacted strongly with old cast appearance. I guess the main problem is the overwhelming response of positive hindered on why certain people truly likes it for the reason they probably missed. Basically, what seems to be like the same opinion on everyone and if you think "it's nostalgia, that's why it's awesome" is all you get from fans, then it will blind you to think otherwise. Like me for example. I already like One Punch Man a lot before the anime, but now with anime, they will think I jumped ship and like it because everyone does. No one will think otherwise.
Basically, there are many reasons to like and dislike something, so you shouldn't think there's only one reason or rather a popular one. Plus, NC has reviewed all SW films and you can tell that he wasn't going to sugar coat it, yet he likes episode 7 with that acknowledgment of being similar. I'm not saying you should like it more or hate it more, but everyone should understand that not everyone will think the exact same thing.
