You know, in a way, it's more parallel to think that Rin and Obito were together on the promise, yet Rin didn't get the idea that Obito loves her until Kakashi pointed out. I would go down and say that Rin and Obito could in fact be together if Rin lived and Obito reached to his dream. I can see both of them overwhelming happy that the promise is done, then they will get together. Sadly, Obito was still young and still away to reach to the top, so the buildup wasn't going any higher. Not saying Obito got friendzoned, because he didn't, but it feels like if he climbed to the top, it would be the best time to confess.
Now I get it. When Minato told him about reaching to Hokage and Obito responded about ladies, it does seem like it would have been the best time to confess Rin, but around that time, he can only witness Rin being impressed with Kakashi like a fangirl. Ok, not like over the top that we have today, but you get what I mean. It's like when a guy say, "You know what it's like getting up every morning feeling hopeless, knowing that your love is with a wrong man, but still hope she is happy, even it's not with you?" It's crazy, but that's true love. Wow, the parallel. Sorry, lost track there. Anyway, when you think about it, the promise is a serious business. Now, I'm just waiting for a week and a day.
Tell me about it bro, it's gonna be kinda hard waiting an extra week. However when you really think about it both promises are kinda similar, both Rin and Sakura had/have a strong motive or drive for both Naruto and Obito's goal.
THAT'S WHAT HEROES DO, THEY SAVE PEOPLE!!

I belive he will due to the extreme hint of Naruto telling him to redeem his actions by doing something good and he only has one thing to do "Edo Rinne Tensei" which was hinted since he got the rinnegan, since died i thought he would be ressurrected.(To be with Hinata! AHHAHAHAH) NejiHina fans will rejoice.
Going back to be serious, i didnt like the comparison it send a message that Kishi chose to be neutral on the exchange to give quality to the redeemption.(He literally give up when he already fullfilled his plan(Juubi's jinchuuriki).
About the bad message Kishi sends though ressurrecting Neji the bad message was already done, i think Neji's ressurrection is less damaging than Obitobeing TnJ by Naruto who literally lose less important things than Obito, i mean his best friend could not keep his promise to him and killed the most precious people he had which he hold a promise and vowed to protect her, cant be compared to a friend who chose to die to save him, which he barely had an interaction.
Resurrecting Neji would be worse than Obito being TnJ. Dead Neji was supposed to develop the main character, who has much more influence on the story quality than Obito. He is a sad and pitiful character, but Naruto is the one moving the story.
If I think on behalf of the writing quality, I want this to go on for a while. Obito can't be that fickle, but I care so little, I'm so tired of this war that I want the TnJ over in 2 chapters.

it's pretty normal that Naruto recalled Neji's death here because at Naruto's side, the only thing that can be almost compared to Rin's death for Obito is that Neji's in fact. Neji is the only friend of Naruto who has died. Sakura is still alive and Naruto doesn't be able to understand how's the death's meaning of a person that he loves.

Yeah but though his memories he definitively knows he loves her and due to that he should had compared it.
Anyway we have to see though the rest i guess.
Also can i point out the fact that Sasuke is pursuing the exact same thing |Obito is doing like getting rid of his past.

I'm starting to think that Kishimoto loves to put a promises in each couple that parallel to NS..
Jiraiya x Tsunade
Naruto x Sakura
and now Obito x Rin
there's an indirect parallel here. NH has nothing to do with this.

The TnJ...
You know, Naruto DID say that Obito should compensate for what he did. Although, the wording is wonky. "...to compensate for what you did normally." Naruto's saying that Obito should return to the Leaf and to pay for his war crimes.
It's the same thing they did in Star Wars. Luke and Padme both believed that Vader still had good in him, yet he was still responsible for millions of deaths across an entire GALAXY. Despite the fact that both his wife and son were trying to speak to the good in Vader, I don't think they'd totally would've let him roam free if he did live through throwing Palpatine down that chute.
BUT, Lucas sidestepped that issue by having Vader die heroically and considering supplemental materials pretty much stated, "Vader hates himself and the Suit is his prison," we can surmise that, deep inside, Obito hates himself and will most likely die either heroically or by someone ele. Maybe by taking down the Juubi when he eventually loses control or if Madara makes a play against Obito. Who knows.

Everything Rin said to Obito in this chapter reminded me of Sakura's treatment to Naruto, especially in the war. "Don't act strong and hide your weakness, I'm watching you" reminds me of Sakura's speech in 630. She sees the human in him, something in him that nobody else sees. Rin's tenderness reminds me of Sakura's, and that she's not afraid to show that she cares. Rin said she would be with Obito in his quest, and Sakura promised she would join Naruto in his. I'm also thinking of the hospital scene at the end of part one, when Naruto cried on his knees in the beginning of part 2 and she said they'll be together, when Naruto said saving Sasuke together with Sakura makes him happy etc. Just in general how Sakura makes sure Naruto is not alone.
I know this alone doesn't make a parallel, but it's enough for a sweet comparison that fires up my shipping spirit. It's so sweet.

Ok wow did my two favourite franchises get mixed up into one conversation?
You sound like you want Sakura to die.

I don't think the parallel needs to be confirmed at this point; the whole point of this chapter was that Obito is like Naruto, not that Rin is like Sakura. Ofcourse it was very nice to see how adorable Rin was and how she's also a bit of a tsundere.

Another thing I noticed in this chapter. If Tobito and Naruto are talking in the Drift or Jinchuuriki mental space, whatever, where is the Juubi? Not sure if the Tailed Beasts NEED to be around in the Drift-mental space, but the fact that they were, when this concept was introduced, and the Juubi isn't, is somewhat worrying.
Or I could be overthinking it, since the Juubi is both the Moon and the 9 tailed beasts.

I don't mind injured Sakura, but I don't want Sakura to be hurt for the single purpose of triggering a parallel.
If she's going to be injured, I want it to be because this is a war, and participating puts her in constant danger. I don't want her to be used as a plot device. Please, she's better than that.
What if Obito gets that great redemption moment, realizes how wrong he was, accept Naruto's hand thus giving Naruto that feeling of achievement, and then Sasuke kills him before he could join back the Leaf?
This would definitely add some fire to their final conflict.
Yes, but it wouldn't make sense unless Obito is dying when he does it. Not too long ago Sasuke couldn't lay a finger on him.

Either that or he could get caught off guard, like "Finally! After many years I can now start a whole new BOOM!!! " Sasuke kills him.

" Sasuke kills him.
But you can't catch Obito off guard, or at least it's not effective. Naruto's attack only left a scratch on his back and it healed right after. None of Sasuke's attacks can kill Obito in one blow.

Btw, I can only imagine the nostalgia if Kakashi comes back after Obito is TnJ'd.
