Well what can you do, right? and Fairy Tail doesn't even count as excessive in the fanservice department the most extreme cases in shonen manga are of the ecchi, romance, harem genre. Those are full of panties shots, nude scenes, clothes ripping(or falling off for some physics defying reason) breast groping and ass grabbing(accidental or deliberate), loss of underwear, and the list could go on. I can understand if you're tired of fanservice but trust me Fairy Tail is not the worst one out there You're in for a heart attack if you read the ecchi manga

I don't think it's fair to make the claim that the fanservice in Fairy Tail is not excessive by comparing it to entirely different genre, especially one whose explicit point is the fanservice (and not the plot) and one that, based on your description, sounds like borderline pornography or soft-core porn.

If that's the standard, then nothing but the most hard-core stuff could ever be "excessive."

That said, I can't say whether Fairy Tail is excessive since I don't read it. I just think you are being too generous in your standard if you're using ecchi manga as a comparison.

Well actually Fairy Tail is part of the ecchi genre it just so happens to be MAINLY an action series with ecchi content so it's not a biased or unreasonable comparison besides I was just explaining that it is NOT the worst you can get from the manga industry with regards to excessive fanservice and you're confusing it with actual porn Actual Porn manga is labeled as hentai, those have the REAL stuff that is considered pornographic ( I'm not getting into details) point is hentai is labeled as adult content even in Japan so the the ecchi genre is just harmless fun (as far as Japan is concerned) but they rate it teen or mature in werstern countries due to difference in cultures. Overall yeah if you don't like it don't read it simple enough

Well it's okay merryGOflava don't read it if it bothers you my advice to you though if you don't like over the top fan service is check to the genre tags before you read a manga if it has ecchi in it I don't recommend it for you

Eh? No no, I don't think so. Fairy Tail genres are: action, adventure, comedy, fantasy. No ecchi listed XD It just happens to have very creative.. um... angles.

I tend to just laugh at the fanservice since I find it pretty humorous the lengths Mashima will go with inserting it XD He can get pretty creative! And whatever, I tend to be a sucker for bishounen characters and many others, so...

Well it doesn't list ecchi on the wiki page o.O I wonder if onemanga just chose to make an ecchi tag because it felt it needed it? I have a hard time believing it is officially an ecchi manga.

Fairy Tail is very close to being ecchi but I don't think it is. If ecchi is a toned down, teasing version of hentai then Fairy Tail is the toned down, teasing version of ecchi. They should create another genre called mashima.

good point okay back on topic (but seriously Fairy Tail IS ecchi I see it labeled as such on the other manga sites I see besides Mangastream.com) Okay so anyways Big three everyone here has their preferences so lets start a debate! which is the best in your opinion and state why! popularity and sales don't count! those are not reasons, just statistics, and they SAY NOTHING about their appeal to you I'll Start: I say Naruto Because I enjoy reading it for Its fight scenes, drama, plot, and Romance. Bleach may have the flashiest fights But I love the powers in Naruto's series the most such as Rasenshuriken I like Bleach's characters and I admit One Piece is funny But Naruto Has my overall preference

1) NARUTO!! XD cause of the story, the characters, romance, action *_* and even the funny XD i just like a manga where you want the main character to win and cheer em on!!

2) ONE PIECE!!.....cause its funny!!! the humor is one main reason. and the characters are awesome. the action is also cool.

3) Bleach. its cool but ichigo is a little tooo distant for me..( i like the happy main characters) the art is interesting though! but i dont know what the heck is happening with the story now!! DX....i got lost after azien got defeated...

Speaking of Fairy Tail, I have no doubts it will take Naruto's place as one of the Top 3 best-selling manga once Naruto ends. Honestly, I see FT as Naruto's successor as part of The Big 3.

But as for a "TRUE successor" we have yet to see it in the next 5 years or so.

eeeh i dont see fairy tail as successor material....the story and plot are all over the place. it introduces new things right when stuff is happening. sometimes im barely getting whats going on. it feels kinda episodic....

but thats only my opinion. (no this has nothing to do with the fanservice)

REALLY? it's not about the fanservice that you say that? (just kidding I believe you) Well I agree its not like Fairy Tail is like Naruto really like how Toriko is similar to One Piece I mean they had that cross over right? anyways I'm sure though Naruto will inspire a future manga someday and THAT will be its spiritual successor like One Piece to Dragon Ball. So Codus your preference order in the big three?

What? It's not even close to the new "things" that Naruto introduces especially in Part 2. The plot's pretty similar in style. Both very linear.

The big difference is that Fairy Tail doesn't seem to have a huge overall plot in the same way Naruto does. While Naruto is definitely moving towards something, it is a lot more vague as to what Fairy Tail is moving towards. Each arc comes up with its own storyline generally, which may or may not mean anything later. The only real clue we have towards direction is locating the dragons. To me, the two mangas are quite different.

I don't really know their popularity in comparison, however, so I'm not saying FT couldn't be the next big 3. You'd have to compare FT to other popular shounen manga though.

I only read 1/3, and I'm sure you can guess which one x) I read some One Piece but honestly (no offense) I couldn't stayed hooked. Didn't like Bleach much, either... *gets shot* but, you know we all like different manga and stuff.

I read it Its great! a zombie horror survival story but its an ecchi manga so merryGOflava wouldn't like it I think .....
