Actually, i think this shows Kishi's trolling us, the previous chapter we thought it was Naruto who she was referring to. This chapter shows it was Sasuke, if she was over Sasuke, then why did she thought of him at all. We all know he is a bad guy, and he is not coming back to being his usual self, i think that ounce you take your brother's eyes, for the purpose of gaining power, you have gone completely mad. Madara Uchiha wasn't pure evil, until he achieved his EMS.

This also shows her weakness in her character, if she had been kidnapped, then her character would have been destroyed forever. Also, this power Naruto gained, it is awesome now. He can feel people's feelings without even looking at them, this may be the best way to combat anyone, as he will be able to see how his enemy feels, if he is scared and acts cocky, he would know he is faking a plan, if he comes with a killing intent, but acts friendly, he would know.

I hope this helps him see what the people's been telling him all this time, to forget about Sasuke.

Nah dude, Chapters 469-70 were pure craziness! And we perserved those threads in the Museum because of those discussions..

Ahhh so much to take in. I have to say I wanted to cry when I saw Sakura think of Sasuke D: But, like you guys, I do agree she obviously wasn't thinking of him in a positive light. Still, though, I think some of you guys are making the situation more complex than it's supposed to be in order for it to still be 'NaruSaku'. Now, don't get me wrong I do think NS will prevail in the end, but I think Sakura was referring to Sasuke when she was talking about 'someone else' (much as I hate to admit it). I think she is guilty of the feelings she still harbors for him. I REALLYYYYYY hope I'm wrong though and you guys are right and she was just reflecting on how stupid she was to like him in part one! But I doubt it. Oh, and we got slapped with NH too. Hmm :/ Although it is one sided it's still annoying.

On the bright side

Hmm...I'm certainly not as confident as the rest of the people here, but if you don't want to get really angry at the developments of a story, you have to be flexible. Not that I'm abandoning ship yet, but I won't let shipping stop me from enjoying the story.

What the hell Sakura? Really? You're acting like the typical girl now where no matter how cruel or bad a guy treats you, you still show feelings for them? I am so sick of girls doing this in stories. They always go for the guy they know is going to abuse them. I mean, females cannot possibly be that stupid in real life can they?

Now that my rant is over. Let's go back to logic.

It kind of clever for Kishimoto to do this. Whatever fan-base thought about ships...this is meant to throw everyone off course. With Hinata thinking of Naruto and Sakura thinking of Sasuke, you would think it means NaruHina and SasuSaku was canon, but this is not true even though most will probably think it is. If I am wrong about this, then refer to nerd rage above for other course.

The pissing scene was funny. It a typically guy moment "Whose is bigger?" arguments. Made me laugh too.

It was good seeing Sakura kick ass. As for the whole Neji v Sakura fight. I think this kind of proves that Sakura could probably hold her own in a fight against Neji. Winning I don't know, but she is no push over.

This chapter does *not* show it was Sasuke. Her expression went very dark when she thought of Sasuke in 540. I don't see that in 539. Which is why I (and some others) believe she is thinking of something else (a former crush who turned out not to be a "great guy").

On a purely fantasy point, after that pounding Zetsu got, I was wondering what Sage Sakura would be like. Obviously not going to happen (she doesn't have a huge chakra pool), but fun to think about monster strength on top of toad power.

Also fantasy: KBTsunade shippers rejoice!

I'm not too worried about NS but I must admit, I stumbled a bit. Luckily reading this thread helped me get back on my feet.
Anyway, we can dissect this ONE panel all day but we will never know exactly why Sakura thought of Sasuke. So I say we wait before jumping to any conclusions. Nothing is certain until the end of the manga after all. So lets just continue reading it weekly :D

And seeing Sakura in action was seriously the chapter's highlight for me. Her figuring out that Evil-Negi was actually Zetsu, figuring out how his technique works and the fact that she finally she defeated someone on her own with her epic strength was awesome >:D Also her giving out orders to the ninja that came in shows how much she's grown as a ninja. In this respect, Sakura was amazing.

I don't see any SS or NH as I read the chapter. As said before, one is an irony piece and the other is hero admiration.

We need more Sakura development! And can't wait for Naruto vs Raikage!

The Hinata scene didn't feel like a shipping scene at all. To me it really looks like she's moved past her crush on Naruto, and now takes his influence on her life as just a positive inspiration to keep on fighting. She wants to protect him because he inspired her. She doesn't blush in the slightest while she's thinking of him, even when she thinks of him grinning. Moving on from her crush meant she has also moved on from thinking of herself as a heroic loser as well. Moving on is less painful for Hinata because the guy she had her one sided crush on is doing heroic things, and she can still admire him, but as a friend now.

Yeah it's good to see Hinata grow stronger as a character. It used to be that her crush on Naruto was just...basically what defined her. Which is one thing that REALLY bothered me about her. But now she is not just some love struck girl but a ninja with a purpose which is goodddd

This chapter is proof of SasuSaku. Sakura knows about Naruto's feelings and has still chosen Sasuke over him. NaruSaku cannot happen.

Did you see her expression when she thought of Sasuke? It was full of sadness. I do think she still loves him, but she feels guilty about it. And I also believe she loves Naruto, too. It's pretty much a proven fact since Kishimoto said she was being completely honest during her confession. She hasn't chosen ANYONE. What you fail to consider is that there is no 'canon' pairing in Naruto. At least not yet. Every pairing still has a chance and we will just have to wait and see, I suppose.

Hey there, long time lurker, first time poster. I was actually going so sign up just now, but then I realized that I had already made an account like 7 months ago, lol.

Anyway this chapter was a real downer for me. I, like many others, felt as if Sakura was really thinking about Naruto in the last chapter, and now it turns out she was actually thinking of Sasuke.

There are multiple ways in which this can be interpreted. Either she still loves Sasuke regardless of everythings he has done, or she still loves him, but is ashamed/confused about it.

Also, it won't matter how one sided that moment with Hinata was. I reckon most NH and SS fans are having a ball right now, celebrating the death of NS while drinking champagne and dancing merrily around the campfire.

Of course, If you know anything about Kishimoto you would know that he likes to troll, especially when it comes to pairings. Even if it is true that Sakura still loves Sasuke, that doesn't automatically mean that NH and/or SS is going to happen. Not unless Sasuke suddenly starts having feelings for Sakura and Naruto starts having feelings for Hinata.

All it means is that:
Sakura still loves Sasuke.
Naruto still loves Sakura.
Hinata still loves Naruto.
Naruto doesn't love Hinata.
and Sasuke doesn't love anyone.

So nothing has changed really.

All in all, I'll still stick with NaruSaku. Like somone else already mentioned, this is just a minor bump in the road. The way I see it, we've simply got another 469 on our hands.
