Not true. Sakura clearly had the advantage since not only she managed to counter Sasori's poison in matter of seconds, she flawlessly evaded the 100 puppets' imcoming attacks. Chiyo even said Sakura didn't actually needed her help.

I'm a Neji fan, but I already know that Sakura would win if they were to fight. Why? Because she has the best, unbeatable jutsu on her side. Main character jutsu.

If Kishi made his main heroine fight against a guy who rivals Tenten and Hinata in lack of screen time, he's obviously going to make Sakura win. Especially if Neji were to be portrayed as the villain in that fight. This isn't a video game where Lv. 40 Neji has to fight a Lv. 25 Sakura. If there is a way for Sakura to win, Kishi will make her win.

On top of that, she might even have some weird medical jutsu that can open/close a ninja's chakra points. Heck, she might even use it against Neji. Or maybe she has some poison that affects the Byakugan (maybe she's preparing to fight a certain other Hyuuga over a boy she likes, lol). Either way, it would be a pretty sweet trick if Neji tries to close her chakra points, Sakura collapses, but reappears behind him to clobber him in the face with some crazy new technique.

Who said anything about the 100 puppets? The Black Sand was their biggest threat. There's no way Sakura would've taken down the Kazekage puppet all on her own.
Plus, you guys fail to realize that Sakura wasn't doing all of the dodging. Chiyo was helping her by controlling her like a puppet.
Let's all assume that Sakura accomplished everything without Chiyo being there. That last opportunity of Sasori's would've killed Sakura if Chiyo didn't stop him from attacking further by slaying him.

I disagree completely. Neji is now clearly the third strongest character of the "new generation " of Konoha. He is the one who became Jounin. The chances are slim Sakura. ShippudenGirl as said, it is much, much faster than her.

I really will be very surprised if she beat him. However I believe that will fight bravely. And finally be kidnapped to be saved by Naruto, adding a bit of drama to the plot.

Also I find no shame that she lost. Kishimoto has said, if I remember correctly, that women are physically weaker (normally are. This is not true?) But how many would have died if not for medical jutsus Sakura or even Tsunade. For them, being strong and able to fight is more a matter of survival, as members of the medical team.

no. i still think sakura could and would take down neji. just cause hes from a clan and has those eyes and just cause he happens to know some taijutsu doesnt give him the fight. sakura is smarter, and stronger and a great dodger. she would be able to figure something out. if naruto could beat neji im sure sakura could beat him too. not saying neji isnt strong, just saying him being a hyuuga wont always help him.

Sakura knows less about Taijutsu than him, "those eyes" are unbelievably powerful, and again, how is she a great dodger? In the fight against Sasori, Chiyo was controlling her most of the time.
And Naruto beat Neji in Normal. I repeat: IN NORMAL. They've both progressed far; just because Naruto would be able to beat him doesn't mean that Sakura can. You, by saying that, imply that Sakura is almost as powerful as Naruto at this time. Also, Sakura's specialty is healing and thinking, not fighting. Neji's specialty has always been fighting, thinking, and thinking strategically.
Neji would be able to figure stuff out against her too, you know. Neji vs. Kidoumaru already displayed how great a thinker he is mid-combat (which was in Normal, by the way), and although Sakura did think similarly against Sasori, Neji had already beat her to that line of thinking mid-combat by over two years.

Seriously, look at most of the fights in this series and tell me how many have followed the reasoning of Strong Character beats Weak Character. We've had so many A-- pulls in this series I pretty much always assume the underdog is going to win.
The only factors that truly matter are the motivation behind the battle and the characters' relevance to the plot. Sakura has both on her side. Neji is actually my favorite character, but I can't possibly see Kishimoto making him win against his main heroine. I mean, how many panels has Neji appeared in during Part II?
And the whole Neji's a Jonin logic is equally invalid. Why, you ask? Well, last time I checked, wasn't it a Genin that defeated Pain, a ninja even Kakashi couldn't defeat? In the end, a title is just that. A title.

I'm using logic here, I'm not using Kishi's underdog-and-main-characters-always-win perspective. If a character needs to win to further the plot, then they'll win regardless of what happens. I'm talking about outside the plot, where there's no necessity for someone to win to further the plot, just plain 1 vs. 1.

it doesnt matter we havent seen what how far neji got. unless you count when he was only fighting himself in that one arc...all he used was that rotation jutsu and sakura could just break the ground to stop that. sakura AND chiyo both did equal work against sasori neither of them would have won without the other. sakura was the one to smash hiruka, sasori, and save chiyo twice. at the end sakura was able to dodge all of sasori's attacks cause she was able to read them. why? cause tsunade trained her to be able to evade cause the medics job is to stay alive. all ninjas have to be able to think strategically!! thats a given!! whenever someone wins a fight its cause they were smart. and just cause sakura can heal doesnt mean she cant fight like anyone else from the rookie nine. sasori's fight should have proven that.

Though now I'm a little confused as what everyone here's arguing over. I mean, this argument's taking place in Ch. 539 manga thread, so I guess I assumed we were predicting the results of a fight in the next chapter, were it to happen.

No way. Sakura is not going to defeat Neji. Or someone will save her, or she will be kidnapped.

Also it would not add anything to the plot. As for the other two possibilities yes.

Goodness, Neji's smart, really fast, has super eyes, older, and is basically untouchable at some points. Not to underrate Sakura, I assure you she has great skill and potential but Neji has some serious skill. Sakura was suppose to be great at genjutsu and chakra control (chakra control seen through her super punches, focused by chakra) but I haven't seen her do much genjutsu in a long time. Punching really hard won't get her anywhere with Neji's eyes and taijutsu.

for one thing why is everyon automatically basing Nejis promotion to Jonin on his strength? A promotion of that type could easilly have been a comination of his base strength, techniques and his leadership abilities. If strength were the sole consideration then Naruto would obviously have been promoted to Hokage upon his defeat of Pein.

Second where is the evidence of Nejis Speed? Lee is faster then him and developed that speed to counter nejis techniques. No evidence at all shows in the Manga any thing involving Neji having superior speed. And no being a memeber of team Gai doesnt count.

Also in the Sakura vrs Sasori fight Sakura quickly adapted to Sasoris attack patterns and was dodging on ehr own with no help from Chiyo. In point of fact several times in the fight Kishimoto eliminated Chiyos ability to help Sakura entirely by virtue of either blocking her puppet arm, or engaging her with the 100 puppets where Chiyo had to concentrate on her 10.

Again Sakura held her own in that fight and the only thing Chiyo really trully did was end it. Simply put Sakura has as much a chance to beat Neji as anyone does and an even chance to beat anyone.

But as Pharix stated the real opponent most likely wont be Neji, itll be the Neji Clone/ zetsu clone if any.

one possibility is that Neji may still be mind controlled and if so may knock her out after the fight is over and Sakura has won. its something she wouldnt see coming.

As far as I'm concerned Neji wasn't looking at the moon and just like Kisame's first death, this "evil" Neji has to be a Zetsu clone with two goals: Kill the jounin medics and kidnap Sakura (maybe this one is just fan speculation and we'll just have to wait and see).
