That's pretty much what I thought when I learned the news that Anonymous supposedly did it. It's even scarier since it's unknown who did it.

I've been trying to explain the Anonymous group for days, but I never felt like I actually managed to properly get across what I was trying to say. But I saw a post elsewhere that basically sums Anonymous up far more sufficiently than I did.

God dammit people are so ignorant. Anonymous is not one organisation, it's an idea. The whole point behind the name is that because of their numbers, people will really never know who exactly did it. The hackers who hacked the PSN self-identified as Anonymous. So they're anonymous. That's how it works. The people who write this anonymous blog are trying to unite all the hackers under one banner, which completely defeats the purpose. Anonymous is a giant, informal collection of internet users who choose different issues (they never 'vote' on things, it's just de facto) to work on changing.

This is the problem with Anon, actually. Clearly these members want to be seen as hacktivists doing good. But Anon is not an organization and this is its problem. Anonymous is an idea and an idea can be used for good or evil. It depends solely on the wielder.
