yeah unfortunately BPs recklaceness is going to take decades to clear out. Hell theyre still cleaning up muck from the exxon valdez and that spill was a drop in the bucket compared to this one.

we havent even trully seen the worst effects yet of the spill. once this muck ends up in the gulf stream it could flow as far north as maine. beaches all along the east coast could be affected not to mention the fragile eco systems along the gulf coast.

what makes it funnier is the moron govenor of louisiana calling for the large sand berms to be build lickety split. he doesnt even realize that those berms are pointless. they wont stop the oil from reaching the shores they might even make it worse and accelerate it. even if it does slow it down then you have hundreds and hundreds of tons of toxic sand to clean up and lastly, the berms them selves are vulnerable to a large storm surge and were heaidng directly into hurricane season.

those things couldnt even stand up to a small storm surge much less a full fledged hurricane.

Gov. Bobby Jindal is doing a good job or at least trying Catsi. He's trying to use every method of cleaning up the oil spill even if the berms on the beaches might not seem much but it still helps for the time being. Jindal was also the one who was trying to prove to BP and the Govt that the vacuum pumps work good in collecting oil from the grass and mud in the marshes (which they do). Unlike Obama who turned down the boom supply aid ships a couple days after the disaster. Kevin Costner now has a good centrafuse vacuum pump that can separate 100% of the oil and water.

Yeah after the ExxonValdez oil spill Kevin was like the only one to try to come up with better oil spill clean up technology. The govt. didn't care about his product because they thought there wouldn't be another oil spill. Now BP and the govt. is acknowledging his product (tests shown) ordering over 30 of these modified centrafuses. There's really nothing new about centrafuses they been uses in plants for a long time and they are real efficient.

I should probably clarify jy position on jindal a little. its more the fact that hes embraced the berms in public as if they were this AMAZING SCIENTIFIC BREAKTHROUGH! *tada que triumphant orchestra* whiel i agree uzumakikage he has done a decent job for someone in the position hes in. his unquestioned embracing and worst absolute demand for a technology that not only wont help the situation but that scientifically well more than likely make it worse renders his judgement a bit suspect.

^I'm not really sure if your calling the berms a failure or vacuum pumps tied to drum ships because industrial vacuums do work and its used in both oil and chemical plants across the US. How do i know? Because my father worked for a chemical plant over 26 years and relatives working in a local oil refinery. Unless you think BP's former plan of using paper towels to wipe the grass is better XD. As for the beaches they can be easily fixed by collecting the old sand and hauling new in on barges from sand dunes and spread out with an industrial blower.
