Oh NFC West. You are a funny division. Grats to the Seahawks who became the first under .500 team to win their division in NFL history.
Records dont matter in the playoffs, but it'll be nothing short of a miracle if the Seahawks have any chance at beating New Orleans. At least they'yy have the 12th man on their side and won't have to deal with all WHO DAT madness.

I hate losing to dallas dry.gif It did move them out of the top 5 draft picks, and I agree with resting Vick and co. They NEED the time off.

Playoff Time smile.gif

#5 Saints @ #4 Seahawks

Not the hardest game to pick. I think New Orleans has slowed down lately, and their injuries could bite them in the arse. But Seattle doesn't really have the offense to matchup with theirs, nor the defense to slow them down. New Orleans moves on.

#6 Jets @ #3 Colts

Rematch of last years AFCCG. The Colts are aching everywhere. Their team is always a little beat up coming into the playoffs, but they are straight beat this year. The Jets have been less than impressive lately, and backed into the 6th spot. Rex Ryan still says they'll win it all. Not sure if anyone can that seriously. Got the Colts squeeking out of this game a winner. Don't trust Sanchez in these type of games yet.

#5 Ravens @ #4 Chiefs

The Chiefs remind me of the Dolphins two years ago. Solid team overall. Good QB, good defense. Except they got Dwayne Bowe. Top Ten WR in the NFL.

But the Ravens are battle tested. And they are road warriors in the first round. I got the Ravens moving on once again.

#6 Packers @ #3 Eagles

If I weren't an Eagles fan, I'd probably choose the pack. But I think with a week off, and a bad taste in their mouth. The Eagles will show up this week and Win a great, close game IN Philadelphia. Strange feeling that the defense will bend a lot but not break and will keep Rodgers from having an all pro day, giving the Eagles O their chance to separate themselves in the game early. This is by far the hardest game to pick. Whoever wins, will become a big sleeper pick to go to the superbowl.

This draft will happen even in the event of a lockout.

Your first 20 draft order:
1. Panthers
2. Broncos
3. Bills
4. Bengals
5. Cardinals
6. Browns
7. 49ers
8. Titans
9. Cowboys
10. Redskins
11. Texans
12. Vikings
13. Lions
14. Rams
15. Dolphins
16. Jaguars
17. Patriots (from Raiders)
18. Chargers
19. Giants
20. Buccaneers

Some trades:
Carolina traded their second round pick to the Patriots. For a third round selection this year.
Miami traded it to Denver and 2010 second round pick for wideout Brandon Marshall.
Jets traded their third round pick to San Diego for Cromartie, but depending on his future performance it could be a second.
Seattle traded their third round pick to San Diego for Charile Whitehurst.
Redskins traded their third round and conditional sixth round for OT Jamal Brown
Vikings traded their third round pick to the Patriots.
Washington's 4th round pick was given to the Eagles for McNabb

By the end of this draft the Patriots will somehow wind up even more stacked then they already are. wot.gif

Blaine Gabbert of Mizzou has announced his entrance into the draft. Andrew Luck and Jake Locker are still in the air.

At least we're #1 in something.

Hoping Luck comes out, but it is not the end of the universe if he doesn't. We have so many needs that we could fill one of them or trade for picks and still fills needs elsewhere.

I already know the priority for my team. Wide Reciever, wide reciever, wide reciever, outside linebacker, wide reciever.

Bradford was great with terrible recievers and Shurmur is probably leaving the coordinator role for Cleveland which means that we're probably getting a new offensive coordinator. People are saying we could wind up with Brad Childress for the job now.

If free agency picks up we could try to grab someone like Sydney Rice. In the draft we'd probably get Justin Blackmon and someone else, (PLEASE LET AJ GREEN STILL BE ON THE BOARD!!!)

Jake Locker is a senior, so he's coming out.

Confirmed QBs of note in the draft:

Senior-
Andy Dalton - TCU
Pat Devlin - Delaware
Colin Kaepernick - Nevada
Jake Locker - Washington
Greg McElroy - Alabama
Christian Ponder - Florida St.
Ricky Stanzi - Iowa
Tyrod Taylor - Virginia Tech

Blaine Gabbert (underclassman)

Eligible QBs of note undecided:

Andrew Luck - Stanford
Ryan Mallett - Arkansas
Cam Newton - Auburn
Terrelle Pryor - Ohio St.

Rams are drafting 14th? No way A.J. Green is getting to you, Insurrection. Julio Jones is a possibility if the Browns don't take him, and that's assuming Luck does declare.

Nate, if Luck doesn't come out I imagine you'll take A.J. Green or Nick Fairley.

shamefulcry0js.gif *sniff* I know, that's why I begged/planned for that contingency. Personally I'm not completely sold on Julio Jones anyway. I'll take Blackmon and Murray combo though.

I want Winners!/Oklahomans! And maybe an OLB from LSU. But I suck at these decisions so Julio Jones or someone would be a safer bet and knowing the coaching staff, they'll take the safer bet. Rams just need the equivalent of Calvin Johnson. Which the Rams won't get because A.J. Green is probably going to Cleveland with Pat Shurmur. wot.gif

There's also the possibility Luck doesn't enter or someone gives Carolina an offer they can't refuse to get him. (Like Mike Shanahan that dude is obsessive over franchise QBs. Couldn't move on after Elway, but it probably won't happen. It didn't last time round fu.png you can refuse an offer you can't refuse.)

This is a bit off topic, however with Bowl Season going on, I was thinking, should there be a college football thread next season?

Nate, sorry dood.

Andrew Luck returns to Stanford.

So who's your pick now? A.J. Green, Nick Fairley, or Da'Quan Bowers? Granted, only Bowers has officially declared but still.

I don't know. A possibility is trading down, taking the next position of greatest need (probably WR/OL) and taking on of the other Quaterbacks in a later round. Or you could pick Green (if he declares), trade Smith for picks and pray Claussen develops. If they pick Green, I'd say trade Smith. You'd have Green, LaFell, and Gettis. Unless, Claussen develops quickly, he may be in his mid 30's before they are good again.

They have the hardest schedule next year, maybe they end up with him again at a much lower price.

They also need to sign a vetern QB. At least give Claussen a chance to develop.

They ought to trade down a little, or trade down even farther for future picks, or an extra 2nd or 3rd rounder. When you ahve so many needs, its the right idea to spread it around.

Well it wouldn't really be an extra second round since they traded it to New England. Best prospects this years are defensive so better go for those or AJ Green. With that said it also changes the draft board for other QBs. Their stocks just rose since Luck is no longer in the equation for this year.

The 2012-2013 offseason could look entirely different. So it turns into a situation that whoever is worse next year is the winner for the draft. So let's go the opposite way, who won't win the Super Bowl, but who will be the worse team in football?

O-line is weird this year. There aren't any consensus studs, but I've seen one or two mocked mid-to-late first. I'd probably consider Green if I were you, although trading down is a more attractive option - you could recoup the 2nd rounder you traded away. I obviously haven't watched the Panthers as closely as you have so I don't know how bad their defense is, but I was under the impression that the D was bad because the offense was putrid.

I'm not sure who would want to move up that badly though.

Defense is so-so. Carolina has a good crop of linebackers, but needs help on the D-Line and quite possibly the CB if they don't keep Marshall and Gamble(I'd be stunned if they kept Gamble after what I've been hearing and I've heard rumors they don't want to keep Marshall). Its kind of hard to gauge the D because the Offense was so bad. If you offense can't stay on the field you'll eventually give up points. I think the only thing they don't have significant needs in are RB (Williams, Stewart, and Goodson) and Linebacker (Beason, Davis).

Defense is important, but the offense was far worse.

Since no clear-cut franchise QB is available you take the best player available if you can't trade down. If I can't trade down, then I'd take Green, and trade Smith for some later picks and maybe take one of the QB's you mentioned in the mid-to-late rounds and hope you strike gold. It does happen on occasion. If not that take, Green and spend the rest of the picks buffing up the D and wait until next year to fix the OL/QB.

The other thing the must do is find a veteran QB even if he sucks right now. You know...at least try to put Claussen in a position to succeed. Fox really didn't do that.

EDIT: People are predicting Bowers. Not sure we need DE. I don't think our pass rush was as bad as our run defense. I would prefer DT if we went that way.

Ahem.

Yeah, I actually think that gif is pretty right on. The birds flipped a big bird to almost every sports caster I've seen this week. Honestly, I'm surprised by how lopsided everyone was picking this game to be in the Saint's favor. I'm not saying the Seahawks are an amazing team by any means, no offense to the hawk fans, but whether it be injuries or whatever the blame is to be put on, the Saints have lost almost every game that they should've won during the season, including that last game. They began the year barely winning any of the games they won by a field goal and in the second half of the year, they lost to teams that most people felt were beneath their talent. Not surprised at all, and Saints fans shouldn't be either.

In an ironic twist:
According to ESPN, this game in terms of points people projected for the winner over the loser had the Saints over the Seahawks as a double-digit points-over favorite, making them the first team playing on the road in the playoffs ever in the wild-card round to be favored by that high of a margin. The previous #1 traveling favorite was the 2000 St. Louis Rams with 6.5 over their opponent. The opponents won 31 - 28. Who was their opponent? The Saints.
