Sorry, but I really don't get your point. I never ever saw a dubbed anime adding the suffix. Like I said, if they had to add -chan to Sakura, so they would also add -san, -kun, baachan and so on and on to others characters. It would speak to manga fans and japanese culture in general, but not to little kids, they would find it weird.
Jackie Chan is not japanese, it's Chinese and in this case, -chan is not a suffix, it's a name. [/quote

What?
Sakura-chan is a suffix, like kun, san, baachan, dono etc...
While Jackie Chan is a name.

Its the same as saying Jackie Chan .
Chan is Jackie's family name lol
This isn't a suffixe like Sakura-chan or Naruto-kun.

what I mean is that its pronounced the same so the english va shouldn't have a hard time saying it.

The thing is that saying for example "Robert-san" isn't english. M. Robert or simply Robert is the correct language.
San, kun or chan isn't english, and it can't be translated, you can only find a word to adapt it in english.
That's why official translations (Viz in Naruto's case) and official dubs in english don't say kun, chan, san, because it's not english.
That's the difference with fansub, fansub doesn't translate at 100%, they prefer to keep some japanese words like suffixes, or even "nakama" (that can be translated as friend) in OP. It's a choice, a good one for the fandoms, but a bad one if you want to reach readers who aren't familiar with the japanese language/terms and manga.
What I mean is, that a normal guy who never heard or read japanese manga, will never understand the meaning of san, kun, chan or nakama (and so on).
That's why official releases don't keep japanese words in their translation.
Hope I helped you.

I know he always calls her Sakura-Chan in the MANGA. But I just understand why they can't mske him call her thst in the dubbed version of the anime. Its the same as saying Jackie Chan . I don't think the suffixes need to be translated for him to say it brcause Chan is not a hard word to pronounce . But thats what i think . He could just say Sakura-Chan. You feel me ?
Well jackie Chan's full name is actually just that, it's jackie chan, chan being a surname not a suffix.
As for naruto not calling sakura sakura chan in the dubbed, that's just also to fit the language. English we don't use suffixes so just simple names are all we do.

@Inferno180, Sojobo and the girl(or boy) with the asian chinese (or Japanese name) - okay I understand what y'all talking bout now .
The English dub is basically the interpretation into our culture. Since we don't really go around calling people Mr. and Master all the time, when it gets turned over to western hands certain parts are left out. The best way to explain it would be name basises in western culture. For example, you wouldn't call your boss by his first name unless you know him personally or are good friends with him. On the other hand You'd call your friends by their first name, last name, or nickname because your closer to them.

It's a bit sad though, because Kishi put such emphazisis on it. He used Sai to show that suffixes do matter in this story.

Well it was turned from suffixes to nicknames during that part. So in our dubbed manga, when sai reads the book with suffixes, for western audiences he says nicknames. So sai goes with nicknames but changing dialouge like that is a minor thing just due to the translation and association practices between west and east. I mean it's not as bad as some other things the western translations had like during kushinas foreshadow, saying don't fall for the first that comes your way, kinda leaves the audience with a highly mixed reception mainly those who wait for the eng version or have no knowledge of the scanulations many of us read especially when they go from seeing 469 (if they just follow the words at heart thinking naruto no longer loves sakura) then see 615 thinking something new is going on, then bam 631 comes to unleash a massive what's going on now? For them. Really the case of translation isn't a good one when dialouge like that was changed and some nh fans used the translation as the basis of hinata to Kushina, 631 practically proved original dialouge is greater than translated or interpreted dialouge.

From what i know kushina said ''find someone like ur mother.dont go for the weird one'' a hint that totally destroys nh.now nh fans came up with another translation where kushina says''dont fall for the first one u see'' which they are using against ns since sakura was the first girl naruto liked.i never saw kushina saying that so i wonder where did they saw it.another think i would like to ask u guys

No doubt Sakura resembles Kushina. Mikoto wasn't made to address Sasuke's future or anything. Just a mother of the family.

I think Sakura looks a bit like Mikoto, but only because of the bangs and since it's a trait Sasuke has too, I think it's just because Mikoto is his mother that she has that similar trait. Plus, I always thought that Sasuke and Sakura were physically similars. Anyway, what I wanted to say id that Mikoto's bangs remind me about Sakura and Sasuke's ones.
As for the "don't go for the first one", it's an error of translation, deliberated or not, I don't know, because it's weird, in the raw script, there is nothing that could lead that way. I remember there was the kanji for "weird" and there is no link between "first one" and "weird"... That's suspicious...

Well yes its suspicious thats why i think its a biased transltion not a translation error.and lol sakura looks like sasuke?nopes sry but i cant see it.as for sakura looks like mikoto because of those two bangs,i can somewhat see that, but in personality shes the oposite of mikoto.mikoto is kind and gentle while sakura ......we all know how she is
Sakura is a tsundere, Sakura is also kind and gentle because she as a "dere" side, which she shows around Naruto sometimes and showed it a lot when it comes to Sasuke (on part 1).
But anyway i dont even know why i'm discussing about Mikoto it doesnt even make sense.

When did I say they were similar for the personnality? I made clear I was speaking about the look. I just talked about the two bangs, that's all. Sorry if it wasn't clear enough.

Sakura does look somewhat like Mikoto. And even when Mikoto said that Sasuke has to study she had that pissed off face like Sakura. But in Mikoto's Databook her personality is described as "calm and kind", while Sakura in part 1 was described as "perfect student, bratty" we know that Sakura isn't someone to be called 'calm', she is rather active and loud. In the end Mikoto looks just like Sasuke, her eyes are basically same only with eyelashes.
As for argument that "Don't chase after first girl that comes in your way", it can be used as Anti-NH too, Sakura never came in Naruto's way, rather it's him going in her way, the first girl to come in his way was Hinata. ^o^ Also that translation is from Naruto game I believe.
