She's more of the princess he wanted to save while he was more the prince to the latter.
Both are cute but as MC Naruto should've won his girl. This is not Hinata's story where she wins her frog prince. IT'S NARUTO'S STORY WHERE HE'S SUPPOSED TO WIN HIS PRINCESS DAMMIT!
I hope Hinata enjoys her husband making eyes at another woman lol. (I'm so mean)

Nope. I think even Tsunade and the Mizukage are reduced in the last chapter to sitting around, drinking, and letting their skills go to waste. It should have been a huge warning bell for us NS fans when the majority of Sakura's chapters after Naruto and Sasuke got their asspull power ups were about her love for Sasuke.
Everyone in 700 just seems miserable.
I imagine its hard to NOT be miserable when you've gone against everything you said you would do, or said you wanted and didn't quite get. I mean look at Tenten, she wanted to be a great Kunoichi and now she's a shop keeper.
Sakura wanted to be on "par" with Naruto and Sasuke and we see her basically being a maid. Even if her dreams are unattainable that does not mean stop trying, isn't that what Naruto was supposed to teach us, to represent to us first and foremost? Instead Kishi destroyed that lesson in 2 chapters.
Now, there are some fans who will say "well, what do you expect, they had kids, they can't be kicking ass 24/7--or that they settled down" or w/e...but PLENTY of Ninja's have had kids and continued improving themselves. Plenty of Ninja's were quite "old" and did not give up working.
It just seems forced, foisted upon us.

Exactly. Why not show Salada meeting Sakura at the hospital? Or Tenten training with the Sage's tools? What was the point of even spending all those panels on the tools if they're just going to be a device to show how bored and unfulfilled she is?
The only explanation I have is either A) Kishi completely checked out and said "I don't give a F-" or to set the stage for some bogus part III narrative of "peace and we're all lazy and OH NO NEW ENEMY!"

But by doing that he makes the whole "child'o'prophecy" BS moot...which shows he's a kitten writer.
Seems like he's just SOL either and anyway.

It's par for the course. He did the same to Ino. Her dream included Sasuke fighting over her.
Come to think of it....is there a female rookie who isn't reduced to some form of this by the manga's end? Even Hinata's who universe revolved around Naruto. It makes so much of Sakura's development seem like a total accident.
Ino's pairing is really a low blow. Not because of Sai, per se, but because it makes her look shallow and self-centered, no matter how you slice it. Either she fell for him because he looked like Sasuke, or she fell for him because of his backwards flattery of her. Those are their only two points of interaction. Ever.
With Choji she had a chance at real character development, looking past the surface to see the true beauty inside and finding love. But no, she is paired up in a love that requires no development and only has a surface-level history.
And it makes Sai look like a chump because he gets together with Ino, someone whom he never expressed any interest in at all. He is paired up with her to only make her look good. And actually, I always thought he was gay.
Aside from his dead brother, the only other relationship he ever expressed any interest in at all was NaruSaku!!
Anyway, yes, all the women in the story get endings that leave A LOT to be desired. All except Hinata, of course. She seems to be the only one to wholly get what she wants.

When I see a NH fan say that Kushina meant Hinata when she said "find a girl like her" I go nuts.
I lose. My d*mn. Mind.
And now the director of Naruto stated that this ending was planned 8 years ago? Aha yeah probably the ending but not the pairings. Think. SS and NH could have had 8 years of development yet Hinata only showed up with Naruto in 15 chapters. They got cheated out of development!
And if it was planned out 8 years ago, then how come he didn't know how to get rid of Madara? Why was the end chapter so short? Why didn't he introduce Kaguya sooner? This just makes Kishimoto look even worse than before. :(

I actually wanted Ino with Shikamaru (though I also like ShikaTema). It's painfully obvious that the only reason Kishimoto put her with Sai was as compensation for Sasuke. Everything's about Sasuke with that man I swear to God. >.< Not everyone wants to suck his kitten Kishimoto.
Hinata should've gotten with Shino--I like that episode where he gawked up at her while she was wearing that sexy red dress. XD The Road to Sakura one remember? I never actually cared for KibaHina..though that still would've been better than the NH asspull.

Yes, it just seems like a streak of meanness on the part of Kishimoto to draw the toughest, fiercest, neo-sannin kunoichi and designated heroine of the series in the epilogue wearing an apron and do-rag and dusting the house. Why? I mean, just...why?
It's like finding out Hermione is a secretary in a low end accounting office somewhere, reduced to answering the phone and filing someone else's papers all day.
Ino and some of the others shown going to (or at least being aware of) the Hokage's meeting, right? And what's Sakura doing? Dusting. She's not even an active part of the village she helped rebuild and protect. She's not doing the things she most wanted as a kunoichi or medic, she's not by Naruto's side as a teammate helping him out, and she's no longer following in Tsunade's footsteps as a disciple.
Like I said, it almost seems like moment of hatred on Kishimoto's part to sabotage Sakura's hopes and dreams the way he has.
Exactly. Why not show Salada meeting Sakura at the hospital? Or Tenten training with the Sage's tools? What was the point of even spending all those panels on the tools if they're just going to be a device to show how bored and unfulfilled she is?
Right! I get that maybe TenTen was used to illustrate that there wasn't much need for weapons now that the fighting was done. But really, that could have been shown through Naruto's diplomacy skills or through the old Hokage's sitting around reminiscing. Or shown through the ninja academy being turned into a different kind of academy.
Instead TenTen is robbed of her identity and goals and made to be a shopkeeper, instead of running a dojo or demonstrating with the Sage's weapons, something I would think would bring her a great deal of fame after the war.
So many different choices could have been made. Like I said earlier, this is like an April Fool's prank that just won't stop. I have to wonder if Kishimoto was just so tired of his own work that he decided to throw the whole thing up in the air and leave no one truly satisfied. Except Hinata, of course.
edit: @Pix, I honestly don't buy that 8 years ago crap. I think that's just a cover story to make the bitter pill of NH go down easier. I think it's apparent that the story was built around NS, and they pulled a bait-and-switch at the end to further the series with a next generation spin off. Even if it proves to have come from some official Naruto source I'm still not buying it. I think it's a lie, no matter who the source turns out to be.

Everyone looks lazy, because of the peace. They'll probably get wiped out if anyone ever attacks them.

Just read this chapter. For me personally, this was just as disappointing as the harry potter ending, so I will treat them the same way.
Ignore.

To disgrace oneself is something a samurai should never do.

Tricksie is spot on (I've said that so much the last two weeks). What happened to Sakura wanting to achieve Naruto's dream alongside him? It's character assassination. Oh, she finally got Sasuke's love and affection. Out the door goes everything else. It portrays her in the shallowest of lights after spending 698 chapters building her into a formidable and strong woman.
700 to me is cheap fanfiction made for the sake of pairing everyone up for a spin off. It destroys Kishi's credibility as an author and world builder.

Since this seems to be the catch all thread going right now, can someone help me? What's the ova with Naruto looking up at a crying Sakura and she looks down at him happy he is moving?
Again not a big anime fan, I just read the manga. So I'm trying to catch up on the actual good moments here.

So true!!! What happened to that! It just got dropped, along with everything else that was foreshadowed in the development. The ending reads like baaad fanfiction to me too.
