In a story you're supposed to let the characters control the plot--not you control the characters.
If Kishimoto held onto his SS/NH ending wish despite the chemistry that was happening between Naruto and Sakura (and Sasuke's rising abuse of his heroine)...then that's bad writing dude. Horrible writing.
The ending was poorly written and it could be proven.
The entire story is poorly written if that is the case. Everything in the entire story is a complete lie and nothing makes sense. The fact that, as I said, you have to explain all this after the fact just means how badly written it became.
A writer blaming his reader's because he couldn't write it well enough just proves it. I have taken writing courses in college and read books non-stop over and over...one thing a writer should NEVER do is blame their readers for the mishaps if they know it was there kitten up. I have seen comic book artist SAVE their reputation by saying "Yeah, I messed up. I meant to put it like this, but they pushed the print before I had a chance to edit it."
Like I said, what is worse for the reputation? Repeating the same mistakes and blaming your readers for the mess ups or actually admitting "Yeah, I had an opportunity and I messed up."
I already explained that. He planned the destination, but not the journey.
Pfff, not even the destination remained the same.
"I am going to name Naruto's son Shinachiku."
Oh really? I didn't know that Shinachiku was spelled B-O-L-T
