It was during the confession episode. In between the SS flashbacks, they included two clips of Sakura hugging Naruto and her shouting his name during the Pain fight.

I always wondered about the early, early beginnings of NaruSaku. We never really saw it, just the formation of Team 7. Sakura already claims to hate Naruto and looks down on him, but's it's clear to us she dislikes him for personal reasons, not because her parents told her to stay away from him. And, yeah, Naruto already likes her, we know that. But really ... what happened to make him like her and what happened to make her hate him? We just don't know.

It's possible it's not anything significant, Naruto just saw her and figured she was cute. But I can't help but wonder if something else happened. I've considered Naruto liking her because of her being bullied as a child, misunderstood, and semi-alone (Pre-Ino) but then I think ... well, wouldn't he stand up for her? And if he stood up for her, Sakura would like him and look up to him, like she did Ino. So that idea doesn't really seem likely to me, I don't see it being a motivator. I don't really mind, I like it better if he doesn't know she got bullied because of her forehead. It's more ironic that he claims to her he likes Sakura's forehead without really knowing it was an insecuity of hers that everyone made fun of. Naruto would be ignorantly complimenting her hated attribute. You know, like Minato with Kushina's hair.

I also will say, if Kishimoto writes the "empathy for bullying" as the reason he liked her, I hope I do not see Naruto pull a Hinata and just watch from afar. It's not anymore touching than Hinata always siliently supporting him, he just watched. I just ... really do not like that. AT ALL.

Is a Early NaruSaku flashback necessary, do you think? I'm not sure if it's my bias muddling up my common sense for basic storytelling, but I feel like saying yes. We got an entire backstory of SasuNaru (multi-layered more & more each arc), but NaruSaku ... nothing? Sakura's one of his most important bonds and the girl he loves, you'd think we'd get something. 622 chaps, still no more knowledgable than we were from Ch. 3. Their parallel, MinaKushi, got a flashback of when Kushina and Minato first met. NaruSaku, the main currently non-canon pairing, should get the same treatment.

Don't know if Kishimoto will really do it though. The only possible options so far that could fit in a NS flashback and not seem random is if Sakura gets hurt or killed by Obito, triggering a Naruto flashback or when he finally realizes she really does love him during a confessions/"reveal" scene, triggering a Naruto flashback. I'm sure we'll probably get more opportunities for this but so far those are the only options I see.

I could honestly see an NS flashback if something happens to Sakura.

If Kishi intends for NS to be canon, he's going to have to really top 615; an NS flashback followed by some sort of confession/realization of feelings (on either side) would be perfect.

But that's just wishful thinking.

Maybe a NaruSaku flashback could be about kid Naruto seeing a situation where kid Sakura claims how she'll win Sasuke over despite being mocked by other girls that she doesn't stand a chance. It could be that Naruto felt intrigued at that moment for what she said but didn't understand why it was. It's only until chapter 3 where she talked about acknowledgment that he finally understood.

Speaking about Sakura's feelings, watching tidbits of the Summit arc in Storm 3 makes me wonder, we already know that Sakura's feelings for Sasuke are still intact but are they something she already considers that she should slowly get over from or does she really hold on to the idea of maybe getting Sasuke's affection one day (after Team 7 is reunited). I really can't be sure if she stands one way or the other.

We already know that Ino is still in love with Sasuke but that she views that as a negative love. In other words, she still has those feelings but I think is something she aspires to let go of. Do you guys think Sakura could feel the same way thanks to the comment of "a great guy" that lover nin said?

I still wonder what was her original plan in the case Naruto had said yes to her confession. If she still planned to kill Sasuke, which would make Naruto hate her, what would be the point of giving him momentary bliss? Yamato said Sakura already concluded Naruto wouldn't stop chasing after Sasuke, so if that was the case there was no point in using the confession to dissuade him.

There are so many plot holes with the intent of her confession that I've never been able to come up with a certain conclusion. But sometime I wonder if she confessed because is something she wanted for herself before everything went to hell thanks to her plan to kill Sasuke. As if she wanted to share her feelings and feel them momentarily returned because she thought that afterwards Naruto would be forever repulsed by her actions of killing Sasuke.

I really don't know sometimes. And then Kishimoto says that he meant to portray her as an honest girl with a stubborn impression. I really can't guess what on earth that guy's thinking.

You know I don't think that even in shoujo those the heroine fangirls over her love interest as much as Sakura did with Sasuke, that right there is a minus. Then there's the fact that Kishi himself stated that Sakura's love for Sasuke was completely arbitrary, that's another minus. Then we have those moments when Sasuke caused her to feel bad during Part 1, another minus. Then Part 2 comes and it keeps going down since Sakura is not even relevant to Sasuke in any shape, one more minus. We also clearly see how Sakura changes her personality because of her love for Sasuke, another minus. Then we have Kishi make lover nin mention how Sasuke is not a great guy and have Ino think how her love for Sasuke is a negative one, that's one big minus right there.

I seriously don't know what would be the point to have that love be realized. What's the plus side her? To show the importance of love no matter how far a person falls, that doesn't even make sense considering that Sakura tried to kill Sasuke and she was actually frustrated that her feelings prevented her of doing so. Naruto has shown much more love towards Sasuke that Sakura could ever hope to do. I don't see why on earth her love for Sasuke could be viewed in higher regard. It just feels so stupid.

I really hate AMV, just give me a vid with NaruSaku scenes no sh*tty overplayed music.....I know I bring up Taiora alot, but remember in the 1st part of the movie Tai bought Sora a hair clip and also threw up in her hat.....if something along those lines happened pre start of series between NaruSaku that would be cute

I really don't think Sakura has deluded herself into thinking she'll be with Sasuke someday. IMO, she's changed from Part 1 Sakura (a romantic idealist through and through). What she said to Naruto about why she shouldn't like him, I believe she meant that. Sakura truly doesn't want to love a criminal, she said it herself, even if the situation was confusing. 540 also supports this. The fodder-nin said he must be a great guy if you love him and she immediately looked depressed/shameful. She tried before, to forget about Sasuke, to openly offer herself up to Naruto in a love confession and bury her love for Sasuke but she couldn't succede. She really wanted to but she wasn't ready yet.

It's not that surprising, I'll admit. Intense hatred for SS aside, I can see she was overwhelmed and forced to action way too early. Before Shikamaru's speech to her and Sai's revelation about Naruto's true feelings, Sakura still saw the Part 1 Sasuke she fell in love with; she didn't realize how much he's changed. Finally it hits her and she gets a half-way reality check, she knows he has to be stopped and it depressed her but she wanted to do what she could to help for once. It was made even more worse by her guilt and pain that she had depended on Naruto so much and had also hurt him so much because of her feelings for Sasuke. So, in response to all this stress, she tried to be the logical person and do the right thing. In her eyes, that was give up on Sasuke and protect Naruto.

So no, I don't believe for a second Sakura thinks she'll be with Sasuke someday or even truly wants a relationship with him anymore, she's made it clear how much she hates her feelings. She's a lot more realistic and mature than that IMO. She's just struggling to erase the affection for the Sasuke he was. It's the same as Naruto. He doesn't have the burden of romantic love but he has even more difficulty realizing how much he's changed (This is because Naruto is a lot more idealistic compared to Sakura's realism). 540 indicates future closure for her angsty feelings for Sasuke and foreshadowing of her realizing she's falling in love with Naruto ("He must be a really great guy if you love him!" -Fodder-Nin)

Lol, agree with you on the confession. I have my own analysis on it but it's so complicated, even I can't help wondering what on earth Kishimoto's intentions are in that scene. And he wonders why so many people have so many different interpretations of it.

If I remember correctly, there's supposed to be 2 new interviews with Kishi this month. One is in a new Jump magazine, the other is in that new Kizuna book. So, the interview could come from either of them.
