it's totally awkward at this point to think what their screwed up relationship will be :S

You know what it will be like. Naruto being dumb, Sakura hitting him for it. I mean, isn't that how they portrayed their relationship for the entire anime? Why change now?

I haven't seen japanese's fans reactions, but I'm almost sure the movie will be less profitable than RTN for one simple reason: The movie's centered around NH -> Nh not so popular in Japan -> not a big success. There will surely be people who will watch it, a lot surely, but less than some better Naruto movies like RTN.

 

Speaking of a comparaison RTN/The Last, even if The Last is really canon, RTN looks more canon, I'm not even talking about the couple, but just the story itself fit more in Naruto's atmosphere, The Last is too focused on love to stay a shonen movie, I mean Naruto was barely focused on love and now its last movie is all about that. It doesn't fit the mood of the manga.

If my brother hears about the plot of the story, he wouldn't even give the movie a chance. That's just how the majority of the boys think (please don't judge what I just said as sexist.)

I NEVER wanted the final movie adaptation to be a freakin love story - even if it was NaruSaku. All this time, Naruto was about fight and friendship. I would feel uncomfortable seeing Naruto centering about love. The movie could still have been great if romance was just a subplot and not a mainplot.

This movie is an insult to the naruto fandom as a whole and is a work of fanfiction for the NaruHina and SasuSaku fanatics.

Exactly. I mean I have no problem with a subplot in the movie about NH, explaining how it became canon, but please not the whole movie about Hinata. Plus, Kishi's surely doing it so people accept his choice and find it in the end logical, but it won't happen, the only thing a whole NH movie will do is making his previous fan hating his work even more. 

 

Seriously there was a cleaner way to canonize NH without making it the crurcial part of the story, just the story of the scarf and Naruto falling for her during their mission to save the world from the falling moon would have been good, without making too much about it, just 3 or 4 little scenes in the movie. But even if I still haven't watch the movie, I can already tell it will be more than 3-4 scene given that love is promoted in all their advertisement "Naruto's first love/ Naruto is about love/love here love there".

I'm more bothered by the whole "I've finally found something to protect" (or something along those lines). I mean, we all know he had something to protect already, and he did protect it.

 

It's like they're hellbent on treating the NS bond as a joke.

Personally, that one sucks too, but "First Love" is still worst. As you put it he already had something to protect, most of the time it was Konaha and his friends. Subtlety it was Sakura yes though

Yeah, I've thought about that too, and all I can come up with is that at the point they started releasing sketches for the movie, they were definitely setting NS up for the fall for the end of the movie. It was a bait and switch, just to help generate buzz.

Ugh. One of the things I liked about Naruto is the move away from immature love in Part 1 to a more well-developed mature, equal love in part 2. By going this route, with statements like "something to protect" it totally unravels the idea of a love that has developed into something more. It's all about Hinata too. The last person in the world a statement like that would apply to is Sakura. 

 

It's so depressing. Naruto and Sakura both got screwed.

Hinata is really popular in Japan though.  She was ahead of Sakura in the last official popularity poll too.  Plus Nana Mizuki.  I can't see how this movie will do bad, sorry.

She knew Naruto loves her...
She knew how much her feelings for Sasuke hurt Naruto...

...and in the end she still just wants go with Sasuke leaving Naruto alone in the village. Nothing anybody says can justify her actions in this last chapter.

Problem here is that if you watch shippuden ok. and you check every freaking ark ok .

 

NS reunion, She seems attract physically to Naruto, and Naruto the same ok. She's glad he hasn't change too.

Rescue of the Kazekage : Worry about Naruto when she learn about the jinchuriki

Sasuke Reunion : Sai (who don't know kitten about emotion, notice she's protective of Naruto. Then we have the yamato scene.) Naruto feel extremely bad for hurting Sakura.

Immortal devastation : even if this arc is focus on Shikamaru and Asuma bond, we've got Sakura trying to help Naruto getting stronger by cooking him special soldier pill for him. Plus she's the one to heal his arm and to tell him to be more careful with that jutsu

Pain arc: She called in the sky Naruto appear (IN A STORY, normally that mean something)The hug and the thank you while Hinata watch with a smile on her face, showing it wouldn't have mean Hinata suicide if NS happen.

The 5 kage summit: Confession where even if it's not for the right reason, she blush before saying I love you to him. Even though her reason were wrong, her motive were to protect Naruto. Kishi state she was honest in that confession.

War : She heal naruto in 631, never deny to be Naruto girlfriend compare to part 1, and you've got that CPR Scene where I can't help to see a parallel there between Tsunade and dan. She was really worry promised that everything will be fine and that she won't let him die, no matter what happen. She decide during the war to protect Naruto dream.

 

So no, I won't blame Sakura or Naruto and I will defend them. The author has everything to make NS canon and legit. If the future in 700 were with NS, it would be still an asspull somehow because the couple pop out of no where but due to prior development, that would damage the story far less.

Those who state the bullsh*t argument that Sakura can be forced to love Naruto, it would have been true if it weren't of all the clue that said that she develop those feeling for him . Even in part 1, her inner laugh at Naruto antic (the real Sakura is like him). And when Sakura imagine what her dream guy would say to her, Naruto say word for word what her dream guy said.  Which reinforce the Mina/Kushi parallel.

Because it's not just a parallel, you see that Sakura would have like the same thing as Kushina and it kind of happen.

Honestly the more I read about the plot of The Last, the more it seems like a cheap knock off of a Sailor Moon episode... hell wasn't there an episode that kinda sounds familiar with what Toneri intends to do with Hinata and Hanabi?

This movie will almost be as bad as a love story between Sasuke and Sakura.
At least we SAW Sakura's feelings changing..such as her blushing at grown up Naruto and flirting with him etc. Naruto just magically loves Hinata in a filler movie like she was his spare.

GUYS , KISHI DIDN'T PLAN NH SINCE THE BEGINNING

 the manga was going exactly the same way that the "gutsy ninja novel" (made by J-man)  was going! In the end the main girl asks her sensei what she should do about Naruto ( MC of the story) and his rival ( her childhood crush) bc both were having a final battle at the moment, and the girl was still drowning in doubt about what she should do!!

 

The sensei however asks her, who is is the one who makes her trully happy, then she thinks of naruto.

I believe this is how sakura' doubts were supposed to end

I've been saying it for years now about Nana Mizuki's popularity affecting the anime and tipping the fanbase. even some of the episodes when you look at how SP draw Hinata she looks like an animated version of Mizuki.

 

We should be grateful the way the Manga was written, there was no way the anime crew could get Tentens charactor involved with Naruto, The VA's Tenten and Hinata are legends, (Hinata's more so.) They are Nanoha and Fate, they are famous, so from a marketing standpoint giving the two more exposure would get them more views, and plus the fans of the Actors would buy anything that had their involvement.

 

It's pretty obvious the manga never planned to be ended NH, the pairing didn't even seem possible until Neji died,  now that you look at it retrospectively, the whole purpose of killing Neji was to make Hinata look good. I think when I read that chapter my first initial reaction was 'That's it, NaruHina is happening, he just killed one of the fan favourites to make i happen,' then Kishi never followed through, and I thought maybe I'm mistaken. Now that I look at it, Neji's death happened around the same time as the movie was announced in 2012, so it's likely he decided on the setting for the movie and started to mess with his story to make it fit into his new mould.

I believe all this is not kishi' idea. He never gave up on his wife who was with a sasuke person, but his main character gives up.

I always thought sakura was going to be naruto's right hand person and keep him in check. Same with Karin with sasuke.

Everyone has to be ooc to make this work except for hinita. Sigh.....

They will probably retcon Naruto's feelings for Sakura to be just a crush, and I don't think Studio Pierrot or Kishi really care about the NaruSaku bond anymore. Naruto will drop the -Chan suffix and they won't be close to each other.
