That gives me a chance to pull out this!!!

Also not to bring up old wounds but some guy was going to open a christian center next to that islamic center because he thinks that it should be just as close but there is a church LITERALLY down the street.

Also This is not good

Hooray for bringing back Futurama.

On the mosque issue...i don't care...Just as long as all protest is nonviolent, and civil liberties are respected. Then i do not have a problem.

We live in a sick sick world.

U mean that guy who has the show on fox that's at like 2 in the morning? Besides there's already a strip club nearby from that place (it was in the news reports) it's New York for Kami's sake! Everything is down the street from something! And what's with the G at the end?

Is New York, what do you expect? Strip clubs and gay bars are everywhere. If someone want to build a gay bar near a community center, then they should do it, is not inside the center, is just near it. Plus catholic priests nearby as well as closet republicans will take kindly to that idea. What you do with your private time, just as long as your not harming someone else, physically, financially, or mentally then there should be no problem.

Ya know what? Ill admit Im not generally wronmg about most things but I can be misinformed.

And in the case of the park 51 center I was misinformed. My initial impressions were of a large flashy symbol of Islam standing in the shadow of one of Islams greatest crimes. Not so much that Islam itself committed it, but that it was committed in Islams name, and the response that Islam as a whole gave to that crime was lackluster.

So for me the decision to build a mosque there was just disrespectful.

Then I got educated about certian things. I learned it wasnt in the shadows it was 2 blocks away and if the towers were standing would be a dot on the map to them. you cant even see the building and when it was done it wouldnt even be visible from ground zero. Next I learned that it wasnt even a mosque in the first place. It has a cooking school and a basket ball court. One of the upper floors is used for a prayer space.

And lastly the kicker for me was learning that there was an actual mosque less then 4 blocks away which has been around for nearly 40 years now, and is at leats 10 years older then the World trade center it self.

Thus I found myself educated and no longer misinformed. I now hope they will build this and wish them luck in the building. The hysteria and misinformation being spread by the radical right in this as a political tool has so thoroughly disgusted me that I cant even read anything about this without raising a bruise on my forehead from facepalming.

The use of the Islamic boogeyman much like the Arizona legislature used the Illegal imigrant boogeyman to pass their con job papers please laws is just sick. And the end result of all this hatred is that the Islamic radicals and extremists are dancing happily in victory tonight because of this.

They wanted change in America and they got it. Fear paranoia, and worse out right hatred have become common place. I hear a load of BS about President Obama taking away are civil liberties. Well i have news for people. it isnt President Obama thats doing that. its the Right wing neo con nut jobs. Their hatred and ignorance have poluted the political landscape with hatred and bigotry. We have this lunatic calling for another crusade against muslims, we have this nut case down here in florida calling for the burning of the Koran on 9/11 which is clear hypocrisy to me. We have ignorance and hatred running rampant to the point where a large portion fo americans actually buy into the sheer crap that is the birther movement.

This is not the America I Know and love. this is Bizzaro america where good and decent people allow the politicans to use the boogeyman to scare them into jumping into their beds at night, and they hope that they will be so scared that the people will vote them into office.

When the Novemeber election comes I for one will not be voting based on fear or ignorance. I also will not support any fearmongering from so called conservative candidates.

catsi, thank you so much for your kind words, shamefulcry0js.gif this is exactly what I would've posted. (which I didn't because I was afraid that I might probably be going around in circles in the debate, which would make me sick to death. Thus, making me think it might be pointless) I'm so happy to see an American willing to see this with a clear mind. shamefulcry0js.gif BTW, can I glomp you??

Also, your words would mean a lot to Muslims right now since Eid-al-Fitr is coming soon on 9/11. In which Eid-al-Fitr is like our version of Christmas, thus becoming the most joyous days of holy days in our religion. Once again, thank you very much. If we ever do meet IRL, I'd like to have a nice long chat with you.

And oh, regarding the Muslim world giving a lackluster response to 9/11, I'd say that's because the Middle East have a LOT of radicals, thus making it hard to give a much better response & commitment to fighting terrorism. Indonesia is probably the only Muslim country (well, not really a Muslim country, but you get my drift) that has outright taken a strong stance against terrorism. We hate Bin Laden as much as you guys. We want to turn his insides out & cut off his balls as much as you guys do. (sorry, being a little gory there but frankly, that's how I feel)

Strange...

It's from the WSJ's Opinion page. It's an editorial. Giving her view on things is exactly what she's supposed to do. It's not meant to be straight news.

Its typical republican nowadays. The party of No isnt going to allow him to pass any laws prior to the november elections nor are they goingt o allow any legislation to be passed that makes the dems look good ala the republicans vaunted small business bill that their own party blocked.

Whats scary to me is that it looks like its going to work. The repubs could end up with control of the house and a closer senate, in which case I pretty well can guarantee you that the log jam you see now in congress and the senate will become a nightmare. If republicans gain power both houses will stop all work, and the GOP will be calling for numerous subpeoneas for any and every ridiculous thing they can.

Think the birther phenimenom is crazy now. wait till the GOP comes into control of the house. Itll get worse. Well have the GOP spending millions of dollars in public funds to finance investigations into the presidents birth status. Thnk it cant happen? It did under President Clinton and they impeached him for lieing about having an affair.

I really hope that the Dems go on the attack real soon.

Ehhh...wuh?

Your not making much sense. Clinton was impeached for lying under oath, which is a federal crime.

2010 seems to be more and more like 1994, it might even be worst for the Democratic party.

I remember i posted something about this before, but i was dismissed as "impossible"

I'm just going to go with October surprise if not, then it'll be a second repeat of 1996 or more when people went, "My God, They're Both Idiots!!!" That's after 1994 repeat, why can't we stop remakes and sequels!!

Lie #1 Iraq has a direct connection with Al Quaeda and 9/11.

Not only false but completely factually innaccurate. Al Quaeda in fact despised Hussein and he had actively hunted them down in Iraq.

Lie #2 Iraq has and is actively seeking weapons of Mass destruction.

False. Iraq Had chemical weapons that they used on the Kurds, but since that point neither had nor were they capable of getitng WMDs thanks to president Clinton and the UN blockades on it. However President Bush emphatically made the case that Hussein was close to Nuclear capable as an ongoing exucse for the war once the tenuous 9/11 cnnection was proven false.

Lie #3 That Iraq would be the stepping stone for setting off a daisy chain of democracy through the region.

Not only proven false but drastically subverted by failures in Afghanistan, Potential Nuclear armed Iran which has grown more beligerent, continued unrest in palestine, and Pakistan, civil unrest in Iraq.

Simply put not only has he lied hes admitted doing so to the press in a november 8th inerview about Donald Rumsfeld.

Now Ill grant that last is to the press, but the other three are to congress as reasons for the war. They were used to buffer his reasons and given to congress to vote on war. a war which mind you cost 4400 lives.

Now with the reasons shown to be lies and false. Why hasnt president bush who has lied to congress not been impeached? when unlike president Clinton President Bushes lies have cost actual lives.

Those lies were nothing but excuses by Bush to get to his true goal OIL, yep he wanted the large manufacture oil reservations in Iraq. Doesn't the Bush family owns an oil company I guess it will benefit Bush if he managed to get oil. More oil more money for his family pockets. To Bush the Iraq war was all about $$$.
