UBW doesn't have much romance because of Archer and Shirou having focus mostly I believe, Fate is better with it xD

That's true, of course. But when I watched the anime UBW and Shirou confessed to her, it felt out of the blue if you ask me.. I also thought the romance in Part 1 of UBW was rather cheesy while I genuinely thought the romance was cute in the Fate Route (but the Fate Route Shirou was so goddamn annoying, lol). My general  impression is that the Unlimited Bladeworks Route visual novel did a better a job at the romance. At least the pics from the visual novel look more romantic and tense.

Well I don't mind any ship in Fate (alot of people don't) since Fate isn't about romance, it has more to offer and characters plus we get insight on their legends and the way it connects to other Type Moon series

There are quite some ShirouxRin shippers out, and I totally understand why people ship them. Rin is attractice, self-confident, an extreme tsundere, charming, intelligent, and badass after all.

Well, I'd be lying if I said I ldidn't love the romance in Fate/Stay Night (2006) ( it's like one of the few saving graces if you ask me):

One of my favorite moments is the Fate Route where Saber says something along the lines:" You were my shield all this time (she refers to the Avalon in his body)."

And then there's this other one where he helps her cut food b/c she's never cooked before XD

Kind of bumped that Saber's role is so insignificant of Part 2 of UBW, but I already knew that ahead of the time, so yeah T_T She already got her spot light in the Fate Route.

Yeah she was, which is why I prefer Fate Zero because more is told and she isn't saying Shirou so much but even though it's small, she is still important in some ways

She was great in the Fate/Zero anime. I loved seeing her past and facing her mistakes she has done as King Arthur. Especially the last three episodes or so made me feel for her :(

I was planning to play the visual novel one day, but now I'm not so sure...

 

Just play the Realta Nua version then, it fixes some of the original VN mistakes and takes out the horrible written sex scenes in place of alternative scenes

Well, considering UBW is the other side of the coin of the Fate route

Ilya's route would probably be the other side of the coin for Heaven's feel route, we will never know I guess.

 

Many fans however consider the anime/ manga "Prisma Ilya" as some kind of Ilya route however

Consider me an exception. In comparison to Shirou x Rin, I see very little value in Shirou x Saber, even with the romance in UBW being as...mediocrely done as it has been. Though take this with a grain of salt, as it's important to keep in mind that I've only seen Fate/Zero and the currently airing UBW adaptation. All I know about Shirou x Saber is the little teases that happened in the first half of UBW, and the basic idea behind Saber's development through the ship.

I personally think the romance in UBW was handled a lot better in the visual novel than in the anime from the few scenes I've seen from the visual novel. Of course, it's impossible to put in all the material, but the few scenes they had could have been handled better in my eyes. I will never forget how dumbfounded I looked when Shirou confessed to Rin with that emotionless face... I personally think though that those SaberxShirou teases could have easily been left out. It wasn't needed at all :/

EDIT: And you're no exception. There are a lot of people out there that started shipping RinxShirou. There's even a thread titled "NaruSaku would have been like RinxShirou if it had happened" (which I don't really agree with).

Actually, I thought Shirou's confession scene was one of the really well-handled scenes in the romance. It was completely in-character for Shirou to handle the situation like that, and the scene itself was pretty well done. It's the actual build-up of the relationship over the first half of the series that needed improving.
