Well normally speaking it should already be flop. Not because everything is broken, but because to decide to continue the story with their kids is plain stupid.

People followed "Naruto" for 15 years following Naruto, Sasuke, Sakura, Kakashi and the rest; some of them grew up with it. And then instead of continuing the story with something that people already know and love, with their favorite characters; they choose to focus on their off-springs which is really dumb.

I mean thinking about it, did you follow this story for Naruto's kid or Sasuke's kid or Ino's kid or any of these kids?

 

Answer: No. These kids were introduced in the last second to continue milking the series for as long as possible.

On top of that we already have a broken story that doesn't make any sense anymore and the writer himself coming out and contradicting himself with each interview and talking rubbish. Plus he's lying to his audience.

 

So normally Boruto should flop hard. I mean really hard. But let's see if people are really stupid and really love this garbage.

I agree, and serious, you would THINK if it was done, it'd be done like in Dragon Ball Z, where the parents are still shown, even as the kids become a prominent part of the story too, since Goku wasn't ignored once Gohan came onto the scene. We just got to see how family life was as well for Goku, and things progressed naturally, not this cluster of a mess that Naruto's become.

Emm... I don't think Bolt the Movie will ignore the old generation. Like, at all. I think they'll have quite a big role.

Yeah, but Naruto Gaiden kinda did in some cases save for Team Kakashi, and even then, they were shown to be at their worst.

Well, if you compare the number of "old" characters with an important/semi-important role (Sasuke, Naruto, Sakura + Suigetsu and especially Karin as semi-important since they do/explain stuff that matters) and the "new" characters (Salad, Chouchou bc of panel time, Bolt as semi-important), then the parents outshined the children.

 

Or you meant ruined personality vs not ruined. Then yeah, obviously the children aren't ruined yet (save for Chouchou).

I meant ruined vs. not ruined more or less. Well, Boruto is since he's a less likable Naruto, plus he seems more sympathetic because Naruto doesn't get it that Boruto doesn't want him all to himself, he just wants him to spend more time with the family besides doing his job as Hokage. Sarada also is sympathetic too since her parents are crappy.

 

Chocho got screwed over from how she was different in 700.

Thing is even if the ending was done right, and it actually ended conclusively and it would've given a proper send-off to this generation. And then continue with the next generation, it's still stupid. Because again we run into the same problem people followed this story because of the old generation not the new one. No one cares about these kids. And Gaiden didn't even help the audience to warm-up to Boruto or Salad or Chochou.

In fact I would say it made things worse.

 

With Dragon Ball GT for example they played it safe. Even though it was following the adventures of Pan and Trunks the main star was still Goku.
