@BlueStarSaber: 631 is much worse. 615 is like a celebration whereas 631 was a riot. A crazy one. It closed down all threads for NF. That's just insane.
It was even worse when Tobi was revealed to be Obito, man I wonder if the Kataang vs Zutara war was this bad? Well I guess one thing came was when those who bashed NS when 615 came out is that they got their just deserts. I hate to see what happens if it shows a chapter of them kissing.
I have a question does pairing wars affect the series?
Well I have heard HarryxHermione shippers might of sent death threats to J.K Rolling. Not sure about The Legend of Aang though. For Naruto we will have to wait and see.

Yep. Imagine it like this : You are an author who has added romance into your story. The romance is still progressing and will be fully realized at the end of your story. In the middle of this progression you notice that a very large portion of your readers completely misinterpreted your story and theorize that the romance is going in a completely separate direction. The fact of the matter is that whether you do it purposefully or unconsciously you will always take that knowledge into consideration while continuing to develop the romance in your story.
For this reason I have no doubt in my mind that the story has changed based on the reader's opinions, even if only slightly. What this change is we do not know and will never know. Maybe Kishi is using NH to distract people, or maybe he feels like he has to make NS as obvious as possible. In any case I would like to think Kishimoto is an experienced mangaka at this point who will be able to handle his readers opinions appropriately.

Well, if it's true that the Japanese readers don't engage in pairing wars in the way that Western fans do, then I would say that the pairings wars wouldn't be an issue. Kishi isn't writing for Western readers, Japanese readers are probably monitored, and considering how popular SS is in Japan and Kishi's treatment of SS I doubt that he's all that affected.

What you're saying is implying that if Kishi were affected by it he would choose to give in, but have you considered that he may have done the opposite? If he chooses to make things harsher and more obvious then that is also a form of him being affected.

I see how long did it take to get rid of all of them?

Well I have heard many times they ship what they want regardless if it becomes canon. in fact I remember their was a Tumblr post with a NH Japanese fan saying something positive about the confession along with a NS and neutral fans.

Or maybe he stuck with whatever plan he had all along, because there really doesn't seem to be any sort of major or minor shift in his writing of the relationships? Think about it, it would be a bad business plan to try to "stick it to" a specific fandom. I'm not saying you're wrong, I just think that fans often get this inflated sense of self, an inflated sense of our influence. Sometimes fans to impact the direction of fiction, sometimes it's a good thing but most of the time it's terrible. I hope that Kishi just does whatever the hell he wants to do regardless of the fandom (and that he doesn't allow the editors to influence his decisions too too much).
I have a question does pairing wars affect the series?
Generally not the official canon pairing, but it may change the course of how that story plays out. For example, while Katang was the official final pairing, in part 1 there was little to no ship-tease of Katara and Zuko. Enter part 2 however, where there is alot more then part 1, for example the scene where Katara and Zuko are placed in the cave together during the Ba-Sing-Se arc. Even in part 3, they didn't completely without a shadow of adult kill off Katara and Zuko until the Ember Island player episode, and later the season finale. [Then of course Zuko broke up with Mai in the sequel comic book series and some people claim that his descendants are from him and Katara. Brings a whole new meaning to the trope, "Die for our Ship."
In layman's terms, author's may switch up their planned story arcs to take advantage of Ship wars. Maybe pushing back the confirmation of a planned pairing, or adding in ship tease moments.

Well, Naruto doesn't know a woman's heart like Jiraiya once said. Maybe if he got the same advice from Shikamaru's dad, he will get the idea, though that's a maybe. He is dense you know. While it is a movie, it was used when Sai read a book about a woman's heart such as being aggressive yet means caring but Naruto is like "Eh?" Pretty much he has to learn it himself. I mean the whole Tobirama explaining how they escaped the blast tells you Naruto isn't that bright.

I have a question does pairing wars affect the series?
Hard to say. I think it depends on how much it's involved with the characters. With a pairing war like the ones in Naruto, then yeah, it's going to affect the series quite a bit. But take an anime/manga like Fairy Tail where NaLU is just so hands down obvious, it probably doesn't affect the series much...unless there are a lot of shippers out there like this Grey X Lucy fangirl
This is my own personal belief, but if the author says the pairing is gonna happen, then it's probably gonna happen. Only an idiot or a moron argues with the author over his own story. Or if you read my friend's book, Chris Lynheart (Available on Amazon.com for those of you who are interested or curious) he made the romantic couple 'canon' in the first book.
So the answer to this is....it depends on the story and author's writing style.
