I've got an equally hysterical follow up.

From the Chattanoga times.

He stated that his speech is slurred because he has only three teeth and the news program's producers forced him to modify and shorten his statement as he was delivering it.

well I wish them luck with the new center. As I stated my only ever gripe was that I believed that ground zero was an inappropriate site for any religious building at all, and that the design seemed a bit austentatious for such a solemn and dignified site.

maybe theyll add a synagogue and a church to the design for a deeper reconcilliation.

I still don't think it's right and i don't see it healing any Muslims wounds. There should be a memorial of honor or a better World Trade Center.

^ I already did suggest the idea of having a memorial around the Mosque a few pages back.

@catsi: fine, are you saying that synagogue & church would be placed within a radius of a few miles away from the Mosque?? well, no problem. I think that's a pretty good idea.

Oh, I see..... if that happens, I just hope it doesn't backfire & turn into a religious fiasco.... why?? well, it's already smack dab within the WTC. It was already pretty much a risky gambling with having a Mosque there so close to it. What I'm trying to say is, I completely understood your POV. I already thought from the beginning, it was already a bit of a gamble but I had confidence that they could face it just the way it is. But having a Mosque, Church, & Synagogue in the same building?? well, on one side it would build a bridge of reconcilliation between the three religions. On the other side, if they have some radicals (all 3 of them; Ulamas, Rabbis, Priests) that could turn ugly. Not to mention it would be so easy to take advantage of the controversial location. So, if they're planning on having those 3 places of worship there, they're gonna have to be extra careful. It would be easier to control one instead of three, you know.

But however, I would definitely support that suggestion. I really hope we can find a more common ground with other religions.

@Uzu: Umm....9/11 was the bane of our existence in the 21st century. I think this will help heal some wounds & not only that, help prevent younger Muslim generations from becoming terrorists.

Haven't Muslims been in wars for over a hundred years in the Middle East? I don't think 9/11 has destroyed their existence.

not their destruction no, but it was defiantely one of Islams biggest black eyes to date. Their image was not helped by Al Jazeera showing the towers falling juxtaposed to pictures of muslims celebrating in the streets.

one of the few things president bush did right was to try and separate the extremists from the moderate muslims and called for tolerance.

but the black mark still remains because instead of decrying the extremists and rising up agaisnt the viper in their midst the rest of the islamic world remained quiet about them. the calls for moderation were lost in the shouts of the violent minority.

Reported assassination attempt on President of Iran! Green Revolution is alive! Though it could be a ploy haven't heard a lot out of Iran lately.

the so called president of iran is a hand puppet. he doesnt speak anything that the Mullah councel or the Army doest tell him to say. Its the only reason hes been named president as he has.
