Yeah, a lot of characters have said a lot of things....look at how good that all went. Shall we run down the list?
Of course, who said this all had to take place down on Earth? Naruto went into space and can breathe just fine.
Imagine the scenario
Sasuke: "We have to stop this stuff from happening."
Naruto: "How are we gonna stop something this big?"
Toneri: "I have an idea..... "
Naruto: "No, we are not throwing the moon at it."
Toneri: "Hmph" *sits in the corner and pouts*

You know what's sad. FT Zero and this are ending at the same time. A simple story based on simple series is better than this Gaiden. You can like or hate the former, but I'm not kidding, it's easy to tell.

The only difference is that FT Zero is million times better! FTZ and Naruto Gaiden can't even compare.
The FTZ chapter hit me right in kokuro! So many feels...

That's going to cause trouble for the NH pairing. It's already been proven that Hinata is capable of dumping/rejecting Naruto and went off with Toneri in TL. Now that their not on hostile terms anymore. It makes thing seems more interest. And now that Naruto is neglecting her and their family

They would have mentioned it. It's just more to it. It's like making expansion to the game that no one ask for. The new novels aren't connected to the one we have, so these are like the old days of novel: focus on other aspect not epilogue.

It's weird how their still mining the popularity of the Akatsuki and Pain arc days, long after Kishimoto killed that off with confused mess of the war arc. None of the characters introduced in that arc are getting a novel. None of the characters introduced are even memorable, and the actions of the resurrected Akatsuki are hardly worth mentioning either.
So adding a Jiraiya, the gutsy ninja, and an Itachi novel (as well as the Akatsuki hiden already in the works), it just shows that Naruto peaked in the Pain arc. And though we were hoping for some big finale, Kishimoto couldn't get it together again. They're just moving on as if the whole war arc didn't even happen, and recycling the most popular old characters to make a little more money.
And yes, I'm curious if the novels actually did well, or if this was just a ploy always in the works to make it look like the novels did well in the lead up to the movie's release.

Betcha they'll change Jiraiya's Tales of the Gutsy Ninja novel enough to introduce a "Hinata" character and have Naruto hook up with her there too!
