rereading the chapter a couple of times after my live reaction, I feel that Ishida made this chapter on purpose given his track record with the parallels in Tokyo Ghoul :re thus far. One thing that's being talked about is that the latter portion of the chapter is just a mere hallucination, and I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
