I just remembered a anime girl that Sakura is highly similar to.

200px-Zero_Louise.jpg

Louise from Familiar of Zero.

Louise is a very stubborn girl. But, as Henrietta mentions, her heart is pure. Louise is nicknamed "Louise the Zero" for her seemingly poor magic abilities that usually result in explosions. During the ceremony when all second year students summon their familiars, Louise summons an ordinary human, Saito Hiraga. At first, Louise treats Saito as a servant or pet, having him wash her clothes, and having him lay on a bed of hay. Louise quickly becomes jealous whenever Saito interacts with other girls, and punishes him regularly by whipping him with a riding crop or blowing him up with her magic. As the series progresses, Louise begins to develop feelings towards Saito and eventually falls in love with him.

Tsundere right?

Edit: It's a good anime. Although quite short.

I think that Maam of Dai No Bouken is the best exemple to find someone who looks perfectly like Sakura :

Gallery_Maam02b.jpg

img000001.jpg

I already told you guys about the character, but her story and her character looks perfectly like Sakura (she has pink hair also lol). Changing from normal fighter with some talent for healing magic to a phyiscal fighter with ridicilous strenght, mastering her healing magic also, in love with the cool guy (who thanks her later for flling him with love) and unknown feeling for the idiot in love with her and who wants to look cool in front of her.

Dragon Quest is part of Kishimoto's inspiration, it's obvious.

PS: Here are some episodes I found on youtube, but, I suggest to read manga:

(I loved that episode ^^)

Yeah, Dai no Daiboken is very similar to the love triangle in Naruto and also the characters.

You made me remember a part of my childhood. I loved this anime when I was 8 years old. Good times XD

Yeah, same here.

It's a pitty that they didn't continue the animation. It could have been a classic like DBZ, I mean, if you look at the fights in the last chapters, the characters became very powerful.

Anyway, I love Poppu/Maam relationship, that's probably one of the reasons I like NaruSaku.

Well at least kishi doesn't play idol master.

Hm, well I got a question then.

Would you say the past pairing(s) make you support NaruSaku more or less, or is it because it's good without reflecting anything from elsewhere?

I terms of features I agree. I haven't watched that anime but with Louise I meant personality. I mean there are tons of Tsunderes but Louise fits perfectly with Sakura.

Yes. There's many way to do it and it's only matter of time that we will get one. Whether it will happen for plot purpose or not, it will still come in.

What I like with Naruto, is that he isn't egoistic, unlike Poppu. He cares about Sakura's feelings for Sasuke, and he cares about her happiness before his.

He would do everything to get her smile back, it's really honorable, and that's one of the biggest reason I like NS. It's Naruto, even if I like the way how Kishi develops Sakura in their story. That scene where Sai was telling the truth about Naruto to Sakura, I found it really well made by Kishimoto. Sakura who's thinking about the promise of a lifetime, cryning about Naruto's pain.

About Rin/Sakura parallel, it can happen, but it's not sure it will right now.

And don't forget guys, Obito always have a Rinnetensei left.

I'd say it's good that it doesn't reflect anything else.  I really didn't get into NS from anything else.  It's one of the most unique parings in anime/ manga I've come across.  I wouldn't call it new, but Kishimoto did develop in a way that was unconventional.  Sure, the concept if a love triangle is used in many media, especially with the girl at first liking another guy, but what makes it unique is the amount of devotion the main character shows towards the girl when he knows his own feelings aren't reciprocated.  Three years we know naruto kept his feelings.  How many people would actually keep their feelings for even 1/3 of that time.  As rocci said, Naruto's selfless love is a major instant like about the pairing.  Seeing Sakura slowly developing those same kind of feelings complements it.

This really reflects me a lot, so you deserve my humble respect and rep. I sometimes wonder myself, "hey, why don't you support other pairings in different series, even when something feels similar?" You said it nicely that even though it's not new, for whatever reason, it works with me a lot more. In my LAP, I have said that Naruto was already great enough for me to like NS, but when we cover with Sakura, that got me to ship it. Last thing to comment is that though there is a love triangle, it's not really done in the way that one is seen as a trophy, rather respect the same level as a human and we don't get like, "Choose me or I'll go" stupidity. The triangle is there but never make the big deal like if Sasuke returns to see Sakura hugging Naruto, he will say, "Stay away!" and more "oh boy" from the audience. So that's a plus.

Just now I read a post from a NH fan: "Rin or not, Sakura is not "his". She is not a kittening trophy."

The thing that's amusing me is that a NH fan says that Sakura isn't a kittening trophy for Naruto.  I guess they've just poked fun of themselves. xD

There aren’t words to describe how much I hate this particular argument.  Not only it is a double standard (since the proponents of this argument support pairings whose circumstances are no better than NaruSaku’s), it’s just plain false.

Sakura is not a trophy or prize for Naruto on any level.  If that’s all she was, he would have accepted her confession at the summit on its face, he would have taken advantage of Sasuke’s absence to seriously pursue Sakura.  Instead, what is actually clearly depicted on numerous occasions is how much Naruto respects Sakura’s feelings, wants to protect them, and puts them above and before his own.  Not to mention that Kishimoto has also made it clear that while Naruto finds Sakura physically attractive, he likes her for reasons deeper than that (her desire and drive for acknowledgment, her determination, fiery personality, etc.).  All of that highlights that a trophy or prize is the very last thing Sakura is to Naruto and that is the last thing Kishimoto is portraying with their relationship.

This also completely removes agency from Sakura, whose change of heart towards Naruto has been clearly and gradually depicted since her introduction, growing to a strong friendship in part one, and showing hints of something beyond friendship in part two.  There is a solid basis for her to grow romantic feelings for Naruto, much more, imo, than there is for Naruto or Sasuke to do so for Hinata and Sakura respectively.  I also think falling in love with Naruto ties in with her character growth as well – its not something Kishimoto slapped on her character in order to reward Naruto.

DattebayoxShannaro really hit the nail on answering this, imo.  I think there is a lot of common elements and tropes in the pairing itself (e.g. idiot hero and tsundere, love triangle, etc.), but the way that they have been developed is what really gets me to like this pairing.  I don't think I've really encountered many shounen that slowly and painstakingly developed a relationship between a hero and heroine on panel the way that Kishimoto has.

It's hard to pinpoint exactly what it is about Naruto and Sakura's relationship that's so unique to me.  It's the first couple I've ever bothered shipping - most other shounen canon couples, while I can appreciate their moments, don't do much to get me excited.  So I can safely say that what I do like about NaruSaku has nothing to do with anything it shares in common with other canon couples from other mangas.  Whatever it is about it that I enjoy so much comes solely from the pairing alone.

Lol is this still on topic?

It's useless to debate just going to post here four quotes.

"Sakura will never get over Sasuke"

"Sakura will never see Naruto more than a friend"

later ~~

"Make Naruto think twice about her as a love interest  "

"Sakura wont return Naruto's feelings but Naruto will return Hinata's"

Hm, well I got a question then.

Would you say the past pairing(s) make you support NaruSaku more or less, or is it because it's good without reflecting anything from elsewhere?

Initially, on the barest level, a little bit. I have this thing for development and gradual change in feelings (from platonic to romantic) ever since I shipped InuKag. The NaruSaku relationship at times reminded me of InuKag from Inuyasha (Tsundere, Love triangle etc.), but I mostly shipped NaruSaku because of it's unique relationship. It had mutual selflessness, and was unlike most love stories I've seen at the time. That's why I ship NS, not because of my old OTPs.

It's the other way around, actually. After NaruSaku became my OTP, I started liking other pairings or shipping them that reminded me of NS. :P

Actually I watched a lot of anime's that I cant even remember half of them but I never really had a pairing before. My first pairings were NaruSaku and IchiHime and I like these pairings a lot. With other anime I just supported who ever ended up with the hero/heroine. I was more neutral. So basically as everyone said NaruSaku is unique and interesting and that is what made me love it. *-* and my crack pairing MinaSaku

That's a nice post. You know, I can relate to your last sentence.

I admit, I have been going back to my list of anime that I have watched to remember the pairings and the level I appreciated. While there are couple that I actually like or some I like it a lot, but not yet this level for some reasons. I believe there were some, though I think it hit the train wreck where love just get complicated and two guys or girls would fight over. I'm glad it doesn't happen here rather just one person to decide, who is Sakura. No need for Naruto and Sasuke to love Sakura in the same level and cause unnecessary drama. If you want to do love triangle, either do it comedy and make a reasonable reason why that one person moved on. Naruto hasn't finish the latter but we can only hope it's done well.
