I wonder how much the trading block is going to light up tonight/tomorrow morning.

Eagles fans knew the birds would trade up, but we thought it would be for Texas Safety Earl Thomas. It ended up being Brandon Graham from Michigan. A bit undersized with short arms, but loves to play and has a high motor. Had a great Senior Bowl and whooped players like Brian Bulaga. They're hoping he could be their next Hugh Douglas and also draw attention away for Trent Cole. Overall, I'm cool with it. You can never have enough pass rushers.
In the 2nd round the Eagles got their safety in USF's Nate Allen. It was reported that they really liked Dexter Mccluster, a short & shifty back out of Ole Miss. However, he was gone before the Eagles could grab him, so they decided to address the need at Safety. Has good coverage skills, and is a ball hawk. That's the kind of Safety they like.
9 of the 13 players selected play defense, 6 of which are in the front seven. They also added Ernie Sims and Daryll Tapp through trades earlier in the offseason. I'm glad that they focused on the front seven, they were garbage against Dallas, and the players we had didn't cut it. Though it remains to be seen whether or not the guys they brought in will help that much.
Mike Kafka was an interesting pick, the team hopes he can be developed into a solid backup QB for Kolb. And perhaps they can trade him for a decent pick someday.
Now for some negatives. To everyone's surprise, not 1 single Offensive lineman was taken. Jamaal Jackson won't be 100% percent, and Nick Cole is decent but not the answer at right guard. Perhaps they'll look at Alan Faneca, but the Eagles usually don't sign older lineman.
They are also thin at cornerback. Trevard Lindley is more for depth than anything, but Hobbs as a starter? That scares me a bit. There will be pressure on the D-line to generate a pass rush, otherwise this secondary will be picked apart.
It was a decent draft, not mindblowing, but they got some guys who should improve the defense. The wait for TC begins.
Also, Taylor Mays should shut it, Carroll made the right move.

Ravens are looking to recreate the defense of 2000 with drafting Sergio Kindle and Terrence Cody. Haloti Ngata, Terrance Cody, and eventually Paul Kruger (they're beefing him up to be around 285) will combine for nearly a 1000 pounds of brute force on the defensive line. This is quite excellent as this will further solidify in stopping the run game and now creates a vaunted pass rush they lacked last season. Cody will play well into collapsing the pocket and allowing Ngata/Kruger to push through the gaps. This allows Terrell Suggs and Jarret Johnson (Sergio will eventually get in there) to rush the passer without being held up at the line and get to the QB much faster than before. Of course Ray Lewis will love this as well as it'll allow him to attack the QB and go after the RB now that he has some big bodies in front of him. Sam Adams and GOOSE! from the 00 year were big guys who just plugged all the holes and allowed Lewis/Boulware to play well within the box in either blitz packages or going into zone coverages. Honestly the Ravens got some great 1st round talent in the second round.
By drafting Ed kittenson and Dennis Pita, I believe Cam Cameron will install a more of a double TE formation that will help in blocking alongside being a receiving threat. kittenson needs to work on his blocking, but he is an excellent passing catching TE who looks great in the vertical game and should help out Flacco. Pitta as well is a better blocker and can catch the ball when he needs to. Todd Heap has a couple good years left not sustaining any injuries and these two will have a great opportunity to learn from a great mentor.
David Reed, Arthur Jones, and Ramon Harewood are some good late round choices to add some depth all around to the roster and play on the practice squad. One or all of them may end up being gems, but we'll see how they transition to the NFL. They all have great traits and bring a lot to the team, so some good choices. I am however disappointed that we didn't select a single CB since that is one of the areas we could greatly use improvement in and really need some depth as both the 2nd CB in Washington/Webb are coming off ACL tears and won't be in top shape till week six. I don't know if they have some plans via free agency or a trade, but they need some additional guys in this area. A much improved pass rush will really help the defense but you can never be too safe when it comes to the secondary especially now that it's a more passing league.
All in all, I'll have to give the Ravens a B+ on this years draft. Ozzie works his magic by trading the 1st rounder to the Broncos for three great picks (Kindle, kittenson, and Pitta) on a developmental pick in Tim Tebow. I don't know what that egomaniac McDaniels is thinking, but it looks like the Ravens will forever be linked to Tebow now. Not drafting a CB is concerning, but I'm very glad that they're trying to inject some youth onto the defensive side of the ball as the veterans look to pass on the mantle to the young guys. Very excited for training camp.

-Alualu at 10?
-TEBOW SMASH! to McJerkface at 25 HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. I hope Tebow fails, but not because I hate him. It's because I hate McJerkface. Also,

-Al Davis oversleeping the first two days of the draft and therefore Oakland makes smart picks. (And picking up Campbell, too)
-Clausen at 48 to Carolina? Shriner-dood, you better buy some Lotto tickets!
-Gerhart to Minnesota? I like Gerhart, but when I think Minnesota, I definitely think that running back was their weak point. That Peterson kid, he'll never work out. [/sarcasm]
But for the Seahawks, value all over the place. Okung (thank you Redskins!) and Thomas in the first (Illmatic, I really thought you were getting him when you traded up), Golden Tate in the late second, getting LenDale White for moving back about 8 spots in the 4th and Leon Washington in the 5th?

(For the younger readers, "buying music" was the way we acquired it, since we couldn't just… you know what, let's just get back to the Bowen song. Stupid kids, you ruin everything.)

Today, Dominique Foxworth tore his ACL and is out for the season. He was the Ravens #1 corner. This is a secondary riddled with injuries. Our #2 corner is coming back from a ACL injury as well and is not 100%, then our 3rd rookie corner (from last year) also had an ACL injury 12 weeks into last season. At this point our recovering #2 corner has to play a #1, and our nickel-back has to play our #2 corner. Ed Reed is out until at least week 6 since he had hip surgery (and he isnt a cover safety so it doesn't insure for having weak CBs). This issue had to be addressed during the draft, and like last year with WR, it has become our Achilles heal. I'm really scared of teams passing against this team, even though they've tried to help improve the pass rush with the front seven. Not having good cornerbacks in a pass heavy league is just a terrying thought. I'd never figure I'd be worried about the Ravens defense for once..but it looks like it has come.
