Edit: I needed to make another point, this theory seems to look more plausable recently because when you think about it being Kakashi's year and Naruto's constant reminders of how he couldn't save one friend, you have to think Kakashi has suffered through the same thing with Obito. Everyone wanted to know how Kakashi got his Sharingan so they tell the story of his team. We don't really know much about Rin other than she's Sakura-ish, but we focus on Obito, I would have more than one motive to make that story. If I were Kishi I would find a way to use it later on in the story otherwise why release Kakashi Gaiden before Shippuden?
This is what I've always thought as well. Why go to the trouble of laying out Kakashi's history if it did not foreshadow some of the plot. He's not a side character, his voice has shaped their whole team. And there are a lot of unknowns to that story too. So there is more to tell, what the readers needs to know now though is what happened with Kakashi and Obito. I suspect we'll find out what happened with Rin closer to when we discover the truth about Madara.
And Madara is going to be someone the readers are familiar with. There's been such buildup, Kishi's not going to waste that. And if you shortlisted candidates, Obito would be at the top of that pile.
Especially if what Insurrection said holds true, that Kakashi and Madara having matching sharingan abilities. Then that's a pretty big piece of evidence.
And even though we got to see Minato in the Kakashi Gaiden, it wasn't about Naruto's father (which we would want to see as he is formative to the main character). No, that must mean there is more to story of Kakashi's experiences that will play a role in the main character's life. It's been highlighted in the manga and the anime, so it's important somehow. And for me, the only connection I can see there is through Obito/Madara.

I like where this is going. Naruto gave him the ultimatum, Naruto still considers him a friend, Sasuke still hates him lol. Dysfunction at it's best!
I'm not giving my hopes up for a talk with Sakura and Naruto. But we all know what is there now, right?. It will happen eventually (yeah, like 200 chapters from now lol). Naruto now begins his "discussed" training with Killer bee. Is that true? I just haven't been up to date with this manga.
If the practice is true, then....
QUE THE MONTAGE!
Oh yeah, Tsunade dies. But not before Naruto and Sakura are there to see her die. Epic Monologue btw. Crossing my fingers that Narusaku will finally be cannon, we all are hoping that will be said and done before hell comes to Konoha. I think we all know why Tsunade's death will happen, the next generation surpassing the old yaddi yada yada. Then the training begins. and Kakashi becomes Hokage (officially), then the 4th ninja war begins.

Another great review by 1TS at MH, & explains a whole lot about this chapter. Thanks to him, I can understand Naruto's statement & Sasuke's attitude much better now. Apparently all that Sasuke crap was to really build-up this moment.

The family that couldn't be.

I doubt it Sakura's confession was important in the main story as well as Naruto's character development Hinata's confession is not important. He will have to realize sooner or later that she was telling him the truth and after what he said to Sasuke I doubt Sakura will stand with her arms crossed and do nothing. She will talk to him however this conversation will probably be in future chapters not anytime soon.

I don't know man, It would be a bad cop out for Tsunade to live this long and mysteriously die when Naruto and Sakura get back to the village. If Kishi had Kakashi come out alive, I'm sure he'll do the same for Tsunade. I don't think Kakashi want's to be Hokage due to not having enough time to read his Icha-Icha tactics.

As far as training with Killerbee, I would love for him to train in order to become stronger. He is supposed to protect the village and there's no doubt in anyone's mind how powerful he is now. But please Kishi...don't make Naruto rap! I remember in Killerbee's training they mentioned something about songs. I just can't imagine Naruto singing or rapping to unleash his power.

he understood Sakura at the bench scene, and at TPOAL. He understood Sasuke better than even Sasuke did.
In many ways his empathy is both a strength and a weakness as it opens him up to a lot of emotional baggage, but can also be a source of great strength.

I know what's with people always wanting to underestimate Naruto? People want the pairing so bad and it has not happened they feel like it's his fault. It will just happen when it happens. It's the same thing with Naruto and Sasuke people feel like he cant understand him and that Sasuke is gone. It's because people don't think about the story as a whole or what the future of the story could be like. I guess there are people that just read the manga and there are people that understand the manga.

Sweet jesus. The amount of Shounen-ai subtext is getting frighteningly ridiculous. I joke about it and all, but seriously, how many different ways can you take the sort of thing that's been bandied about by Naruto in regards to Sasuke? Not many. At the very least the whole things been coming off like a bad soap opera.
I bet Sasuke could slaughter a box of puppies and blow up a homeless shelter and Naruto would excuse him.
"HE DIDN'T MEAN IT HE'S A GOOD PERSON DEEP DOWN REALLY"

I take it a different way.
As other people have suggested, I don't think Naruto is talking about dying together with Sasuke.
Naruto is saying, even if he dies, he is taking Sasuke with him.
Sasuke is an egomaniac.
If Naruto tried to argue that he would kill Sasuke and emerge unscathed, Sasuke would go on another rant about how he is the greatest ninja to ever walk the earth.
Naruto is trying to show that he can't be intimidated. The worst that Sasuke could do is kill him, and Naruto says that even that won't stop him from accomplishing his goal.
In the past, Naruto has tried to say that he understands Sasuke, which caused Sasuke to get weepy and ranty about how no one can understand his pain.
This time, Naruto asked if Sasuke understood Naruto's mind. Which kind of blew away Sasuke, who never considered trying to understand other people.
Even though Sasuke is still a nutcase, at least Naruto is trying different mental tactics. Might unsettle Sasuke enough to make things interesting the next time they meet.

I'm not seeing that. He looked very apathetic for most of it. Which then seemed to turn to annoyance. If anything, Naruto's words seemed to have the opposite effect on him; he seemed to be all "GOD do you EVER shut up?"
Nutcase is being nice about it at this point; dudes so far off the cliff that the rocks at the bottom are coming up fast.

that Naruto confronted him as a person and an equal is something hes rarely outside of Karin had someone do.
hes always either being confronted as an Uchiha, or a genius/prodigy, or a ninja or an avenger, a little brother or this or that. Hes never had trully his own identity untill Naruto confronted him as a friend and equal.
As just Sasuke.
Karins done much the same treating him as an equal, telling him off when hes weak or wrong, standing up to him when she has too.
in a way its ironic that both Karin and Naruto were stabbed in the same side of their bodies by Sasuke ((both on the right side)) before being discarded.
thats why Narutos determination was so shocking to him. I can see why Sakuras turn wouldnt surprise him. to him she was just a fangirl, no more maybe a teamate and friend but nothing else. So no suprrise shed eventualy turn on him to his perspective.
But Naruto has always stood himself as Sasukes equal even when he looked up to him as a rival. ge said it on the hospital roof. I never saw myself as less then you.
Sasuke for even a brief moment was shaken from his self absorption and made to look Naruto in the eye.

Why would Sasuke want to listen to Naruto? It's because he knows he's right. He still see's Naruto as a friend no matter how hard he has tried to break the bond it is still there and that makes him more angry then anything. Naruto's main power is to change people and he will do the same for Sasuke. I think you forget though that so far Sasuke understands that Itachi was ordered to kill off the Uchiha family. The only problem is that Sasuke was easy to manipulate because of that. But Sasuke will eventually understand that it's all wrong and that he is only being used.

Genius
I think the only way for Sasuke to be redeemed at this point is if he listened to himself and see how bad he's truely become, I know he knows it but I think Naruto or Itachi's ("power?") can make him fully realize that what he's doing now is completely off and is simply being manipulated. Madara told him the truth about Itachi, but did he tell him the Uchiha's were gonna start a war? Sasuke Uchiha= Emotionally unstable, depressed, and most of all "official" puppet to Madara's game. What's Madara gonna do with Sasuke if he achieves his goal with the 10-tail? He's gonna dump Sasuke on his aßß and control him like the rest of the world to achieve "True Peace".

Naruto's determined expression was very striking in this chapter, it definitely made me sit up and take notice. Now that he's certain where Sasuke stands, hopefully we shouldn't see any more crying/begging from Naruto! I like what he seems to have chosen to do; let Sasuke go but defend his friends and loved ones at Konoha with his life if necessary.
The only real disappointment for me in this confrontation was Sakura. I know Sakura was very conflicted, her feelings for the "old" Sasuke clashing with her desire to protect Naruto. After all, she wanted to protect both boys, not be forced to choose one or the other. However, it really feels like Kishi was really restricting her role in this scene. Where was the Sakura who helped kick Sasori's ass? I can only hope that, when Kishi said he would write Sakura to be "more of a heroine", he meant after this confrontation. Because it didn't feel very heroic at all. Sakura has uber-strength and a wide array of medic ninjitsu. I'd like to see her use that more.
Now that the fight is already over, I think it's time for Naruto to collapse from the poison.
