[Nick Soapdish]

I often wonder why admins or mods put up with "Anti-(insert whatever you desire here)" clubs of any kind to begin with. They're nasty and tend to bring out the worst in a lot of people. It's the kind of threads that you'd think would be immediate red flags.

I think it's because they help serve as an outlet.

I suspect that it'd be a lot tougher to keep the calm in the NaruSaku FC if some members weren't able to step next door and complain about the rival pairings.

This actually surprises me. Usually fandoms like that are pretty good at explaining things away, no matter how ridiculous the explanation. Panic is not what I'd have expected, no matter how it looks.

I think this is a good sign to say they think we're wining the ship wars. Which is the most awesome. I haven't lost a ship yet so here hoping for more Naruto x Sakura-ness....."

And coincidentally, NF is down again. Guess those upgrades didn't quite take.

Yeah, I suppose I wasn't thinking of that. I remember the panic among this pairing at that point as well. It was a bit of an eyebrow raising moment for me. A lot of us had even been discussing - fairly recently if I recall - that her confession was something that basically had to happen to boot.

Anyway, the spoilers definitely look like something to take encouragement from on our end.

Indeed. Not that there was much doubt, for me, but it's always nice to get those moments that reassure and calm others.

We have a running joke on another shipping forum I frequent that whenever something goes for "upgrades" it's actually more of a downgrade. Crashes, bugs, threads missing huge chunks of posts and other assorted nonsense tends to crop up, so we call them downgrades. It's sadly rather accurate, nine times out of ten.

I suppose I can see the wisdom in that. They've always just struck me as the kind of threads that just asked for trouble, though.

Winning might be a bit much. In my experience, they're never truly won. One of my favorite ships is all but stated outright to be the canon, intended pairing as it's part of the overall storyline and themes. It never stops the other sides from doing whatever they can to debunk or decry it, no matter what truths you throw at them. Plus, they have a tendency to get really nasty when the conversation isn't going their way.

Shipping is not for the weak of heart, that's for sure.

Oui, and I was one of them.

Hinata's confession, though I begin to interpret it differently than I originally did when the chapter came out, is really what might be the nail in the coffin for NS. I find it doubtful, but if Naruto doesn't make a move on Sakura and she continues to let him believe that he absolutely must keep his promise to her and that she still loves Sasuke, it's going to turn extremely grey for our fandom.

Naruto's a very literal fellow. He's never going to truly understand a person's romantic feelings unless it's explicitly stated to him.

The spoilers merely prove my point, I think. He does love Sakura, but he's never going to make his move on her because her feelings for Sasuke and his promise to her are what holds him back. of course, he'd never want to put that kind of pressure on her anyway; he knows it's unfair.

One of ,my many debate's I had so I just pulled a quote....

If your logic worked, Sakura and Lee should have got together for now. Actually, if you realize, the situation is playing EXACTLY like it did back then: Character A confesses loving Character B; Character B reacts with a "WTH?" expression; Character A gets badly hurt trying protecting Character B; Character B is grateful, acknowledges Character A's feelings and considers that person a cherished friend, but doesn't talk again to Character A (actually, Sakura showed more gratitude for Lee back then than Naruto has displayed towards Hinata so far).

And if you realize, when Naruto and Sakura are hugging, Hinata and Lee's panels they are placed closely together, and both characters had matching smiles.

No, I doubt it will be for NAIL in the coffin for NS. Just be cause Hinata confused doesn't mean Nh will happen. Seriously, he wouldn't be so cruel to Hinata by telling him that he loved her while he still loved Sakura. I think you inturpting Hinata confession wrong myself...

You misunderstand me, but that's partly my fault. I didn't word myself very well. What I mean is that Naruto now knows Hinata has romantic feelings for him. From the spoilers, Naruto refuses to make a move (or, in other words, confess) to Sakura because he's not even able to keep his promise of returning Sasuke to her. The fact that he remembers his promise is also a sign that he still believes Sakura is in love with Sasuke (which may or may not be true; though I think the intensity of her feelings has dwindle a substantial amount). Hinata's confession is kind of like a proposal of the easy way out of things: Naruto can move on or he can remain stuck on the same girl who's not in love with him for the rest of his life.

I know one of the themes of the manga is supposedly remaining concrete in your bonds with others, however, you don't have to remain romantically involved with the same person for the rest of your life in order to keep your bond with them intact. There's always going to be someone else who - while they might not be able to fill the void completely - will be there for you to offer you the love and support that remained unrequitted from another. Naruto simply doesn't strike me as the type of person who would not grow to feel romantically for another person, even if it isn't his first choice, you know?

I don't misinterpret Hinata's confession (I see it as mainly Kishimoto's attempt to give her development), I just simply am trying to express that it's a potential threat to the outcome of NaruSaku depending on the way Kishimoto decides to handle their relationship. Am I making any better sense now?

Also, just for kicks, I want to add that Hinata's eye seems to have a bit of a twitching problem on that page. Interpret that as you will. XD

I can't see any other direction being taken this close to the end of the manga tbh. We'll have to wait and see obviously.....i'm pretty confident though, and this chapter was definatly a nice boost for me...

Just wish we didn't have to wait an extra week for a new chapter!

Yes, it is pro Naruto x Sakura, because with the manga ending soon. I am 98% sure we will have a paring confirmed. I think this is leading in to the confession stages of the Manga sense I SEEN this a millions of times in Manga....

The 5th Mizukage IS Kushina! She has the same color hair, as far as I can see.

I think Mizukage's hair is more auburn and brown than it is red like Kushina's hair would be.

Anyway, if she were, she'd have a lot of explaining to do, leaving Naruto feeling abandoned like that. :\

LOL Well I did say that theory will be running rampant when the actual chapter is published tommorow, seems like it's a day early....Kushina's hair is a darker shade of red plus the eyes are different colour I believe, looks like the Mizukage has green eyes, and I think Kushina had blue.

But then again it's never been confirmed that she really is dead...for all we know maybe she left the village after childbirth when she found out her husband is dead and thought her child was dead as well....it's something that has never completely been confirmed...which totally sucks, you'd think the old Kage or Jiaraya would have atleast let him visit his mothers grave.

Edit: So has the flashback scene happened before or is this a conversation that's happened before but we weren't shown it? But it doesn't seriously change anything, we know that Naruto loves Sakura, same way we know Hinata loves Naruto, and Sasuke loves revenge. we just don't know for certain who Sakura loves as that hasn't been confirmed...don't think even she knows from her actions.
