I like the description of The Legend of Zelda for NES and Link to the Past SNES. They're the same but one has one or few elements that makes it stand out without being criticized heavily.

Well it's been confirmed or at least in a way. Edit. Rey's Identity revealed.

Due to this video:

go to 20:30 and listen to what Kylo says. He reveals Rey's identity. Like we didn't already knew. No, seriously I want to know how many of you figured it out?

Now because this is a game they might change it in the movies. So it might not stay like this.

Just seen the film

The story line and battles scenes were okay (maybe better than the first three episodes). But too many plot holes and the new casts are not exciting (at least for me). Solo stole the show even though he was betrayed and killed by his pathetic son that turned to the darkside. Overall, this franchise needs more improvement or else its going to become la major disappointment like the three episodes and Anakin. The biggest flaw I saw with this film is the unmasking on Kylo Ren.

Alright so I will have my review (I know I'm a little late on it cause life has been a pain atleast with work and a little special project apart from my book) on the Force Awakens up by Saturday, but anyway I've got a few little theory ideas as to what Episode 8 could be called:

I kind of agree that Kylo Ren didn't seem really threatening to me in the least. I also had some problems with the lore of the movie, and some problems with how the first order came into power. It also felt like I watching cut scenes from a video game in some parts of the film. However, I still loved it as a bridging gap between the last three and the new EU.

I have to say I was pretty disappointed with this movie. Terrible writing, boring cast, the bad guy's a freaking wimp, and the lead character's a marry sue. People are crazy if they think this garbage was better than the prequels.

to me it wasn't a good movie saying its better than empire strikes back or even the prequels isn't true i would rather watch those movies and i've seen them before... people kept telling me that the prequels are crap and this movie better not be like them but i'm just lauphing at those people since this new movie's plot is comparatively non-existent ... or wait is the point of star wars to feel nostalgic and things like plot and acting and what normally makes a good movie or sequel not imporant. the prequels weren't perfect but at least they never felt unplanned or forced when i watched them. this movie literally had c3po say it was impossible for r2d2 to have the map to luke in him and then later r2 turns himself on and has the map in him. kitten writing. it probably would have been a better movie if george lucas directed this. unfortunately i was reminded of naruto and how it was good to a point then apparently money attacked and everything changed. even the 3d filming was bad wtf.

It seems that with this movie you either really loved it or you really hate it.

I always feel like hate part comes in being hard on the similarity or not Lucas, which is absurd. I'm sorry, but he had a one hit wonder, and it's one hell of it, but that's all I can say. Episode 1 was a wake up call that he's not that good, much like Kishi with part 2. But to each of their own. If anything, it's far positive than the prequels.

I .... agree. I've only seen it once and while there were some parts I did enjoy tremendously overall I was pretty disappointed.

 

Reasons why, Spoilered for those late to the party

The Good

 

Rey: Her character is awesome and intriguing in my opinion. Plus its nice to have a main lead female force user for a change

 

Lightsaber fight between Rey and Kylo Ren: Action packed and energetic like the prequel duels. Loved it

 

John Williams: Obviously

 

Dogfights: Obviously

 

Plot: I liked the "Search for Luke Skywalker" plot idea. It's intriguing

 

The Bad

 

Finn: I didn't like his character. He was the classic idiot hero who bumbles around and always does the right thing. More importantly his reason for his need to do the right thing is never really explained. They even had a great motivator scene to use as a reason, the massacre at the beginning on Jakku. But instead he just sort of... does the right thing. That's not an interesting character. It would have been better had they given him a scene at the beginning where he had been forced to gun down innocents at the massacre instead of just standing around and watching. The other major problem I have with him is he gets kicked around left and right throughout the entire movie. Sure heroes need to go through trouble but why should I look up to Finn when he is getting his butt kicked left and right. Poor guy couldn't catch a break. He got saved more times than Sakura did tbh and while I have no problem with women saving men or heroes being saved, can anyone seriously tell me they'd feel safe in battle with Fin at their back?

 

The Force: This was a huge one for me, though not the largest. The Force in this movie is to borrow a line from a certain angry saiyan, "When did the galaxy's most powerful weapon become a force bargain bin sale!!!" There are two problems I have with the force in this movie. The first is minor, unlike the older films whenever the Force is used in this movie there is some weird bass drop that annoyed me. But the other one is what really bothers me, the ease with which Rey can use the force. Now I think its great that we have a female jedi lead, but for pete's sake the way she uses the force in the movie is like a jedi master. She does mind tricks, telekinetically summons a lightsaber and beats down an enemy who is descended from the chosen one. Now the argument can be made that she is probably luke's daughter but even luke only showed telekinesis powers when he was untrained. This problem can easily remedied by saying that Rey was a student at Luke's academy originally, but we have that flashback of her being left on Jakku as a child meaning that she probably was not that well trained. And the mind trick was only performed by a master in the entire series, namely obi-wan and later Luke after he had trained. Why does Rey even need to go for Luke for training? Look what she did right out of the gate. She did things that jedi masters had to perfect for years.

 

The Villains: And this leads into my biggest gripe with the film: These are the worst villains I have ever seen. First off is Kylo Ren. Kylo starts off very good. He has a solid backstory (Even though it is a carbon copy of Vader's), he is shown to be ruthless in the first couple scenes, and he is shown to be powerful. But this all falls apart as the story goes on. He is constantly outwitted by the heroes, is destroyed in a lightsaber duel by two inexperienced teenagers with glow sticks, and turns into a complete whiny little wuss. The first couple scenes are perfect, especially when he force chokes one of his subordinates, but as the movie goes on he suffers big time as a character. Why should we fear Kylo Ren at all after this movie? Give me a lightsaber and I'll easily chop him up. More importantly what evidence is there of any conflict in Kylo Ren between the light and the dark at all? What made him turn to the dark side and what drives his desire to stay with it? In the prequel movies Anakin's reason for turning to the dark side was subtle and masterfully done in my opinion. Why does Anakin turn to the dark side, was it really to save Padme or was it control? Control that stemmed from his fear of death and more importantly fear of loss? The more power he gained the more control he had, but ultimately it cost him. And what of the inner conflict of Anakin? Subtlety done as well. He does not wish to kill Luke even in ep 5 and this conflict is more pronounced in 6. But with Kylo Ren there is no conflict, he is loyal to the First Order and the Dark side through and through. In fact his obsession with Vader and the Dark Side reminds me of SS, no reasons given why he is obsessed with them and all of the reasons to leave, all they do is cause him pain. And even after all of his talk of surpassing Vader and the power of the Dark Side he gets pasted by a non force sensitive bumbling hero who has never used a lightsaber and a force rookie who has never used a lightsaber. Add to that that he has training and lightsaber fencing combat experience (He did massacre the New Order) and you realize that he sucks. He just sucks. Hux just annoys me. Phasma I find interesting minus her name but she doesn't seem very competent and Snoke is the biggest travesty save for Kylo Ren. Every time I hear his name I want to laugh because I remember the names of previous Star Wars villains and I realize how stupid a name like Snoke is. Sidious, Bane, Revan, Malak, Thrawn, Nightsisters, Maul, Tyrannus, Vader. And Snoke is supposed to be the name of the villain who brought the New Jedi Order and the mighty Luke Skywalker to its knees? No thanks. Even Obito and Kaguya are better villains.

 

I have more but I don't feel like getting into it. I guess the main issue I have with this movie is what many others are beginning to say, that the film is a movie made for fans. It lacks the originality of both the Original Trilogy and the Sequel Trilogy and in the end it didn't feel like a Star Wars movie to me. It felt like a fan film made on youtube. But that's just my opinion and I don't intend to ruin anyone's star wars viewing experience. In the end this movie coming out means more of the Galaxy Far Far Away. But sometimes, not everyone is content with the hyperspace route and some have a bad feeling about this...

Not everyone will like it the same.

Being a huge Star Wars Fan I went in with high expectations
I came out of that theater with a big smile on my face
I loved the movie.
 

Also heres hoping they dont go the normal route and have Rey as a Skywalker but have her as a Kenobi!

That would make less sense to me I would thin she was a Skywalker.
