Like I said, it's not easy to keep up when a lot of people are posting on a new chapter. But it proves we have a consensus on why Sakura didn't need to ask about Naruto -- which is good. 
It may not be spectacular at the moment, but Kishimoto is keeping Sakura in play during this critical part of the story. Let us not forget that she is the girl on the scene. Even if she doesn't get the chance to do something huge and badass, to think she doesn't or won't have an influence on the outcome -- at least as far as Naruto is concerned -- is a mistaken assumption, I think.
The very fact that the final villain is (apparently) a woman, that raises the odds that Sakura's proximity and role will matter somehow.
Is it wrong that I wish Sasuke would just be forgotten... wherever he is?
