FABULOUS.

 

I love how Kishimoto goes along all cool and like a non-shipper, then casually sneaks in and fires a torpedo that blasts a huge hole in SS. 

 

It's never a sure bet how it's going to happen, but I am very pleased with the calm but certain truths revealed by Kakashi's thoughts.  The fact that Kishimoto chose Kakashi for the perspective, and that it's him taking stock of his students to assess their progress since the beginning, makes the point inescapable.

 

Sakura still cares about Sasuke -- is sentimental about him -- as a friend, teammate, and human being, but he is no longer her love.  

 

The reminder we got that her younger self believed the one she liked was her dream?  Well, we know from her words and actions that she shares Naruto's dream now.  And the dream she shares with him will inform her heart who it is that she truly loves now.

 

Those of you who are worrying over the wording in this chapter?  Don't.  It's crystal clear.  SS is as good as dead.  We just have to wait to see how the final elements play out.
 

What a great chapter to finish off a rotten day.

When you have literally spent years convincing yourself that you're correct, it becomes really difficult to accept that you may be wrong. 

 

Let's just be glad that it isn't our ship that's imploding. 

 

That's true, I can see how horrible it would be if Naruto suddenly said Oh, Sakura-chan, want to give blessings to mine and Hinata's wedding?  I would completely lose my mind. 

 

But at the same time I don't think I would seriously ignore dialog like that - it's just... too much.......

The chapter was mostly garbage tough, Obito is really stupid to not see that it was Madara behind Rin's death when almost everyone who read the manga could have seen it coming. Now it's sure Obito will get his revenge on Madara, Obito can't die without getting his closure with Rin.

I don't like the wording of how Kakashi stated it "I reckon your feelings for Sasuke have changed since then. Though you still like him, its a different feeling." Okay SCREW SS IN HERE!!! "You STILL have feeligns for someone who tried to kill you. YOU ARE UNABLE TO CAST AWAY the one who tried to kill and STILL CONSIDER IT YOUR DUTY TO SAVE SASUKE FROM DARKNESS." I see a roller coaster here. A nail to SS, then removing the nail partially and then thinking whether to really sue down the nail.

 

Why what? Her feelings have started to change  as Kakashi said.

 

The second thing he says makes more sense imo when read as "you still care for him and you want to save him from darkness" when he says have feelings these are the type of feelings I believe kakashi meant. Friendship, caring and thigns like that, feelings like how Naruto has.

Her feelings have changED. I admit its friendship, but why state it like you still cant cast away the who tried to kill you!!

 

The only line that is bugging me is, "You still have feelings for someone who tried to kill you..." While I'd like to believe it was just an awkward translation and that he meant feelings of friendship, I won't make my judgement just yet. But context clues from the other parts of Kakashi's speech (and my own bias) have me thinking this is addressing Sakura's waning feelings for Sasuke. 

 

The other few lines about Sakura's feelings are very anti-SasuSaku. He classifies her feelings as having "changed" and are a "different feeling." This can't be good for SS.

 

I think Kakashi is basically saying that while Sakura may not have romantic feelings for Sasuke anymore, she still cares for his wellbeing, which shows how "kind" she is, as most people wouldn't care for someone who has tried to murder them.

SS is just a shimmering light that's about to fad. It's not dead, but it's getting there. I'm glad Kishi is actually addressing Sakura's feelings through Kakakshi. I'm glad she wasn't made to look like a damsel in distress. And most importantly, I'm glad that this looks like it's heading in a direction where Sakura is going to be included in this fight. My girl finally gonna shine and nothing hurts :)

In the page I read Kakashi says Sakura has still strong feelings for someone who tried to kill her and then goes on to say "no matter what you're unable to cast away the one you LIKED", I don't know but it looks like Kakashi confirmed 2 times that. Sakura's romantic feelings for Sasuke belongs to the past. I suppose we will have to wait for the raws and a definitve confirmation.

In the meantime I will still say that Sasuke and Sakura are like brother and sister.

This is a manga where eyes can be taken off and implanted nilly willy without repercussion, even by children (as what happened to Obito --> Rin ---> Kakashi) so in actuality Naruto's instant eye-heal is not that impressive, hahahaha.

 

Must not understand satire and sarcasm and hyperbolic expression. :(

Good read. We can try to debate Kakashi's speech all day long. I believe the point of his speech was to say how they all grew up. I liked it, Naruto has surpassed all previous hokage, Sakura isn't anchored to a crush and has established her place as a splendid shinobi ( not to mention she has a kind heart ), Sasuke isn't obsessed with Itachi.

 

I also like that Kakashi is still a little concerned about Sasuke's plans after they beat Madara, though he doesn't dwell on it. Best part about this chapter other than Sakura being saved is probably, Team 7 finally back as equals, even though Naruto and Sasuke are super buffed right now.

 

Predictions : Sweet Madara fight, I still think Sasuke may try to kill Naruto after they beat Madara. Also, I think this is Naruto's best look.

I think the raw won't change anything, the words won't change, Kakashi will still have said "You still have feelings" and "liked" at the past tense. This is the chapter we were waiting for years, a confirmation of Sakura not liking Sasuke anymore, at least not in the same way. She still car about him ("You still have feelings for the one who tried to kill you") but she doesn't love him anymore ("your feelings have changed" and "likED").

true. i wonder what Sakura will do in the next chapters, in comparaison to Naruto and Sasuke, she can't do anything. Especially now that Naruto can apparently do anything, even revive an eye.

Wrong. he said "YOU ARE UNABLE TO CAST AWAY the one you LIKED" Why is it so hard to get it as " Even if you still care about Sasuke, your feelings have changed."

eye transplant, I accept ok, it's a manga with green energy healing ok. but it come from somewhere. What Naruto did is pop an eye out of thin air without any repercussion. That even for this manga standard is stretching it too much.

 

yeah rin was a children when she did that but it was war and they train she was still a train medic (She was a chunin , like Sakura but younger so she must have talent somewhere) . it stretching it logically but the logic of the Naruto world cab explain that.

No, but that's the kind of words that are always the same, "feelings"気持ち "liked" 好きだった The only thing that can confirm if she's over Sasuke in romantic terms is if in the raw, Kakashi said すき(like) or すきだった(liked) because it's possible that the translator uses the past to make a grammatically correct sentence.

The point they are trying to make is that - Naruto at some point in the past had a coherent story and physics that it relied upon. Kishimoto has taken it upon himself to dismantle his own world. 

 

As a writer myself, there is nothing more disheartening than seeing an established and beloved world with lore just completely obliterated for the sake of plot. This whole war arc just - it's abysmal. And I can pinpoint where it all went wrong. The scope of the story got too big. Naruto got too powerful. Once he beat Pein, who was next? How do you challenge the hero? He painted himself into a corner and is having to use Deus Ex Machina to get himself out.

I think I'm the only one here who doesn't have a problem with Naruto creating an eye. And for a simple reason we've seen so many things recently that don't make sense and this is normal. I've accepted that anything could happen and I just go with the flow.

This is just another day at the office.

@ narusaku256: You said that you think it might be implied that Sakura romantically still loves Sasuke because Kakashi said that she still cared about him despite the fact he tried to kill her. Err... does that sound like anyone to you? (Erhem, cough*Naruto*cough)

 

Seriously, Sasuke has caused Naruto so much pain and he still wants to save him. I'm not shocked that Sakura would also want to save him from darkness, but as his friend - like Naruto. And I think this goes to show just how in sync Naruto and Sakura are now with their feelings.
